Rory McIlroy is set to ditch his Jupiter mansion and move to the UK full time
Professional golfer and long-time Florida resident Rory McIlroy is planning to leave the US and relocate to his brand-new home outside of London — which he and wife Erica Stoll began building just a few months after calling off their divorce.
According to Realtor, the 35-year-old Masters champion is reported to be in the process of preparing to make a major move across the pond, alongside Stoll, 37, and their daughter, Poppy, 4, as early as June after he finishes competing in the US Open.
Currently, McIlroy and his family reside primarily in Jupiter, FL, where the sporting star owns a lavish $18 million ($A28 million) mansion, which he purchased in 2017, having previously owned a property in nearby Palm Beach Gardens.
However, the pro golfer will now turn his back on the Sunshine State in order to take up residence inside a custom dwelling in Wentworth, Surrey, just outside of London — which, like Jupiter, is home to one of the world's most prestigious golf clubs.
The new location will provide McIlroy with the perfect place to continue honing his skills, which will be on full display in the coming weeks as he competes in the PGA Championship at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, NC, before moving on to Oakmont, PA, for the Open.
News of McIlroy's impending relocation comes just weeks after the athlete discussed his exciting build across the pond with reporters in April following the Masters.
He explained that he and Stoll did some travelling with Poppy immediately after the tournament concluded.
Those travels included a trip to his home country of Northern Ireland as well as a brief stopover in London, where the trio paid a visit to their future dwelling.
'We first went to London with Erica and Poppy to see our new home that we're building and we made the trip over to Belfast to see a few other people that are important to us,' McIlroy said, according to NBC Sports.
'Just to be with them, to be with Erica and Poppy and my mum and dad. To see Michael Bannon, my lifelong coach, and spend a bit more time with Harry [Diamond] and his wife. [To] celebrate with the people that have been part of this whole thing for my entire career was absolutely amazing.'
It's unclear what stage of construction McIlroy's new home is currently in — or whether he and Stoll began working on the property before the golfer filed for divorce in May 2024, claiming in legal documents that their marriage was 'irretrievably broken.'
However, less than one month later, McIlroy filed to dismiss the divorce, and the couple has appeared rock-solid ever since — now cementing their bond even further by working on a new family home.
The brief breakdown of the marriage sparked a firestorm of speculation about the reasons behind it, with multiple reports suggesting that McIlroy had been involved in a relationship with CBS reporter Amanda Balionis, rumours that both refused to publicly address — although insiders were quick to shut down any talk of a romance between them.
Questions were also raised about what would become of McIlroy's immense fortune if he and Stoll split. The professional golfer is estimated to be worth around $280 million ($A435 million), much of which he has accumulated through his prize winnings, which regularly total more than $1 million a pop.
His most recent win at the Masters netted him $4.2 million, while he walked away from the Players Championship in March with $4.6 million. Following his win in Augusta, he will next head to Louisiana for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, where he stands to win more than $1 million.
But in addition to his skills on the golf course, McIlroy has taken another major step in building his vast fortune — by basing himself in Jupiter.
The small town has long been a mecca for golfers who are drawn to its stunning courses, beautiful weather, luxury real estate, and relative privacy. But there is one other very significant reason why so many athletes in the sport choose to flock to Florida: no state income tax.
Typically, golfers who reside full time in the US must pay income taxes on all taxable income that is earned worldwide, according to H&R Block. However, they are also subject to state income tax, if they live in a state that requires it.
McIlroy's property is inside the iconic Bear's Club community, a gated neighbourhood filled with high-end homes, all of which surround the club's stunning private golf course.

Kate dazzles in chic blue Alexander McQueen suit during outing in London
IN LONDON Kate has dazzled onlookers with her chic look during her first outing of the month in London. The Princess of Wales, 43, had a private two-hour tour of the new V&A East Storehouse in the city's east, which offers unprecedented free public access to the museum's world-famous collection of hundreds of thousands of pieces relating to fashion, film, visual art and performance. It opened its doors just two weeks ago. Kate opted to rewear a stunning blue trouser suit by Alexander McQueen for the occasion, which she paired with a white top and matching stiletto heels. Her hair, which she recently had lightened with blonder shades, was worn out in loose waves. Kate, who has a degree in arts history, stayed on at the venue for an extra half-hour after becoming engrossed in the displays. The princess' last public engagement was in Glasgow on May 22, where she attended a ship-naming ceremony, and she is expected to join Prince William and their three children – Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7 – at the Trooping the Colour in London on Saturday. While Kate has increased her workload since announcing she had finished her chemotherapy treatment last September, it's been regularly stressed by Palace aides that the 'cadence' of her public engagements will continue to be slow and measured.

Meghan confirmed for upcoming royal clash
IN LONDON Meghan has been confirmed as a guest of honour at a glitzy, black-tie event in Los Angeles as her husband's family steps out for one of the biggest days on the royal calendar. There will once again be a Sussex/royal diary clash on Saturday as the duchess attends the Museum of Natural History's Night of Wonder gala on the same day as Trooping the Colour, the King's official birthday celebrations, take place in London. Meghan will be honoured for her charity work and give a speech at the star-studded event, which is focusing on advancing community wellbeing and increasing opportunities for the disadvantaged. It's not yet been made clear whether Prince Harry will also attend. Meanwhile, the royal family will take part in the annual Trooping parade, which takes place every June, before making an appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony for a Royal Air Force fly-past. It's expected that Prince William, Kate, the Princess of Wales, and their three children – Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince George, 6 – will join the King and Queen and other senior royals for the occasion, which draws a crowd of thousands to The Mall. The latest schedule clash comes after Harry popped up in China last month to deliver a keynote speech at a sustainable travel forum on the same day as his father and stepmother's high-profile whistlestop tour of Canada kicked off. It's understood the relationship between the Duke of Sussex and his family are at an all-time-low, with Harry even giving a no-holds-barred interview with the BBC in early May. In it, he revealed the King no longer takes his calls, that he doesn't know 'how long he has left' amid his cancer battle, and then asked his family for 'reconciliation'. Meanwhile, news of Meghan's outing this weekend comes just days after she divided followers with the release of a throwback video in honour of her and Harry's daughter's fourth birthday, which featured the pair of them taking part in a viral TikTok dance challenge in the birthing suite on the day she was born. 'Four years ago today, this also happened. Both of our children were a week past their due dates … so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn't work – there was only one thing left to do!' she captioned the video of the couple dancing to the 'Baby Mama Dance Song'.

Willow Stefanovic is living her very best model life
Karl Stefanovic's model daughter, Willow, is living her very best model life. The 20-year-old, whose first name is Ava but goes by her middle name, Willow, looked particularly striking at a recent wedding she attended in Italy. The celebrity offspring has over 11,000 followers on Instagram, and her fans and friends were quick to compliment her pink dress moment. It was an onslaught of praise. Someone said she looked 'breathtaking' another raved and said she looked 'wow and unreal' and her dad's co-host Sarah Albo jumped on her keyboard and called the young model a 'gorgeous girl!' Willow is the eldest daughter of Stefanovic and his ex-wife, Cassandra Thorburn. Stefanovic and Thorburn called it quits in 2016. The Today Show host ultimately moved on and married Jasmine Yarbrough, a shoe designer and socialite. Willow manages to resemble both her well-known parents, and she appears close to her stepmother Jasmine. The stunning photos follow Stefanovic's 20-year-old posting that she was in Argentina in April. Last year, she was in France, and before that, she was travelling around South America. The celebrity offspring is living in London and studying at the respected London College of Fashion. For international students, the fees start at around $44,000. She's also embracing the limelight, signing on with Precision MGMT in 2021 to pursue a career as a model. At the time, she told Stellar that she's been 'drawn' to modelling since she was little and embarking on a career in fashion was a dream come true. 'Dad backs me 100 per cent as long as I'm happy. We all know I didn't get my fashionista gene from him,' she added. Meanwhile, her famous Dad almost backed her decision to enter the fame game claiming she knew what she was doing. 'She doesn't go into anything blindly, especially the fashion world. She's a strong, independent young woman and wants to pursue lots of things in life. We love her spirit,' he said.
