Police Seize 20,185 Ecstasy Tablets in Drug Trafficking Bust in Marrakech
Rabat- Marrakech police arrested a suspect on Friday in connection with a drug trafficking and possession case.
The Judicial Police, acting on precise intelligence provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), successfully carried out the operation.
The 35-year-old individual, who has a criminal record, was arrested near Tamansourt, a town located on the outskirts of Marrakech.
The operation was conducted in coordination with the Royal Gendarmerie, and it led to the discovery of a substantial quantity of illegal psychoactive substances, raising concerns about the scale of the trafficking network.
The suspect was apprehended while traveling aboard a cargo truck. During a thorough search of the vehicle, police found a staggering 14,185 Ecstasy tablets.
Following the arrest, authorities executed a search at the suspect's residence in Marrakech, where they uncovered an additional 6,000 psychoactive pills. This brought the total number of seized drugs to 20,185 tablets.
The suspect is currently under judicial investigation, which is being overseen by the relevant prosecutor's office. Law enforcement officials are working to fully uncover the details of the trafficking operation and explore any possible connections to broader criminal activities.
