Digi governance: UPPSC all set to adopt e-office system
Prayagraj: In a major administrative reform, the
Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission
(UPPSC) is set to transition completely to an e-office system.
The strategic shift aims to streamline operations, enhance transparency, and boost the efficiency of the commission, which is responsible for conducting recruitment examinations throughout the year.
The implementation of the e-office system is already underway and will be executed in phases.
According to officials, the new system is expected to transform how files are handled within the commission. Traditional paper-based files will be replaced by e-files, enabling digital tracking and faster processing of documents. High-ranking officials will have the capability to locate any file with a single click, thereby simplifying oversight and decision-making.
One of the primary advantages of this digital transition is the timely redressal of complaints from competitive exam candidates. Presently, numerous complaints remain unresolved due to slow file movement and administrative delays. With the e-office system, officials will be able to pinpoint the status of any file instantly — identifying where it is pending and what action is being taken. This will eliminate unnecessary delays and ensure that students do not have to make repeated visits to the commission to resolve their grievances.

To ensure smooth adoption of the system, UPPSC will provide training to all officers and employees, enabling them to adapt seamlessly to the new technology.
Additionally, the system is designed to enhance accountability within the commission. If an e-file remains pending with an employee or officer beyond the prescribed time limit, the system will automatically flag the delay, and responsibility will be assigned accordingly.
This mechanism is expected to put pressure on staff to resolve issues promptly and reduce bureaucratic inertia.
The digital file management system is also poised to bring about greater transparency. It will minimise the scope for manipulation and corruption by tracking every action digitally, from initiation to approval. The result will be a more reliable and trustworthy examination process, boosting the credibility of the commission.
The UPPSC has already taken significant digital strides in recent years. The introduction of the One Time Registration (OTR) system has simplified the application process, allowing candidates to apply for exams with a single click using their OTR number. Furthermore, the commission has incorporated Artificial Intelligence to monitor examinations and has established a dedicated control room for real-time supervision.
