NFL analyst describes Texans' 2025 offseason in one word
The Houston Texans' 2025 NFL season is going to be one to remember.
The back-to-back AFC South champions retained most of their key players from the 2024 team that won the AFC South and went toe-to-toe with the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round in Arrowhead, but one of the team's best assets is playing elsewhere. Houston did move off Kenyon Green to acquire C.J. Gardner-Johnson from the Philadelphia Eagles, and shipped off five-time Pro Bowl tackle Laremy Tunsil to the Washington Commanders.
In retrospect, the Texans also added some new wrinkles in receivers Christian Kirk and rookies Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel. Houston also bolstered the offensive line with the additions of Laken Tomlinson and Tay Ersery from Minnesota in the second round.
The key to it all is C.J. Stroud, who could become one of the highest paydays this offseason should he exceed expecations under new offensive coordinator Nick Caley calling the shots after a woeful under to the Bobby Slowik tenure.
But when tasked with coming up with one word to describe the Rams' season, FOX Sports' Ben Arthur wrote: "underwhelming."
"After C.J. Stroud was the second-most sacked quarterback in 2024, the Texans entered the offseason in dire need of retooling their offensive line," Arthur wrote. "But their moves to address the group, including trading away perennial Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil, feel disappointing."
Yes, it's fair to criticize the Texans' struggles with the offensive line, especially when the team had trouble keeping Stroud upright. However, change was needed, and with Tunsil entering a contract year, as well as other players requiring new contracts, it was inevitable that someone would be on the way out.
Houston should easily win the AFC South again and could make another run to the Super Bowl, but it also could flounder in a make-or-break year with Stroud ahead of negotiations. No matter which way it falls, the Rams' braintrust of Decmo Ryans and Nick Caserio will need to figure out their plans for a team with a lot of question marks following this year

Seahawks officially reunite with Shaquill Griffin
The Seattle Seahawks have succeeded in their efforts to add more depth to the cornerback position. For months now, reuniting with Shaquill Griffin - their third round pick from the 2017 NFL draft - had been a strong possibility. Now, the reunification is officially complete. On Wednesday morning, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that the Seahawks were set to sign Griffin back to the team. After four years and four teams away from Seattle, Griffin is now is returning home to the Pacific Northwest. Griffin will be playing on a one-year deal worth up to $4 million dollars, according to reports from ESPN. The Seahawks beat out their former head coach, Pete Carroll, and his Las Vegas Raiders in signing Griffin, as he did meet with them as well. Instead, the desire to once again play for the team that drafted him was clearly a strong pull. Griffin was solid during his initial four year stint in Seattle, even earning a Pro Bowl nod for his efforts in 2019 despite not snagging an interception. After his rookie deal concluded, Griffin played for the Jacksonville Jaguars for two years before eventually being released. He then played with the Texans for half a season, and was released during the 2023 season. Griffin finished 2023 with the Carolina Panthers, and signed with the Minnesota Vikings in 2024. Speaking of the Vikings, only is Griffin reunited with the Seahawks, he is also joining up with his quarterback from last year in Sam Darnold! The fact Griffin is willing to sign up another team that has Darnold as the starter should say a lot about his confidence in his quarterback.

John Harbaugh lands a top-four ranking on an impressive list of NFL coaches
John Harbaugh earns a respectable top-four ranking when stacked in a ranking vs. his peers. Everybody we talk to... Everywhere we go... The vibes are the same... The conversations are similar. Everyone believes it's Super Bowl or bust for the Baltimore Ravens. Everyone is tired of the regular-season magic seemingly running out when their best is needed on the biggest stages. Things came to a head during the collapse in the AFC Championship Game almost two years ago. Baltimore lost a home game to the eventual champion Kansas City Chiefs. Last season, wrongs were supposed to be righted. They weren't. Instead of finishing the story, the Ravens were ousted by the Buffalo Bills, this time during the Divisional Round. No one has lost hope, as early indications are the rest of the division still isn't ready to soar with the two-time defending kings of the AFC North. The defense will be improved. The offense is loaded. Lamar Jackson, the two-time MVP, is the catalyst for another shot at glory. One of the game's best coaches will again be asked to conduct the symphony. John Harbaugh does his job just as well, if not better, than anyone, and one of our favorite platforms recently gave him the respect he has rightfully earned. Pro Football Focus' Dalton Wasserman recently ranked him fourth on a list of the NFL's top ten returning head coaches. Here's some of what he mentioned as his reason for doing so. "Harbaugh perpetually has Baltimore contending for championships, but has not won a Super Bowl since the 2012 season. The Ravens have endured only two losing seasons since he took over in 2008. Baltimore's consistency is incredibly impressive, considering the team hasn't lost a game by more than one score since Week 18 of 2022, a contest in which their starters didn't even play." No lies were told there. Here's more: "At the center of Harbaugh's success is Lamar Jackson's development. Coming off an injury-plagued 2022 season in which he earned just a 72.3 PFF passing grade, Jackson and his team were at a crossroads. Since Todd Monken was brought in to be the Ravens' offensive coordinator in 2023, Jackson has become an unstoppable force, leading the NFL with a 95.1 PFF overall grade. As long as Harbaugh and Jackson are in the building, the Ravens will be AFC contenders." And, with that, we repeat... It's Super Bowl or bust during the coming NFL campaign. Championship windows close quickly. The Ravens want another one, and they're loaded. They'd be wise not to squander the opportunity.
