Dog Jumps in Water, What Cat 'Needy' Sibling Does Next Melts Hearts
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A bonded pair of animal siblings have gained viral attention for their lake-side display of loyalty, after a cat's unexpected leap into the water to follow a dog delighted viewers on TikTok. Shared by the duo's owner under @mooseandpeach, the June 23 video shows the cat and dog both wearing pet life jackets on a paddleboard in a calm, scenic lake. As soon as the dog jumped into the water, the cat followed—highlighting a comically inseparable bond that has captured the hearts of millions on TikTok. The clip has been viewed more than 3.6 million times and liked by over 578,000 users to date. "My cat refuses to be separated from my dog," read the on-screen text, while the caption below added a famous quote from the romantic drama The Notebook: "If you're a bird, I'm a bird." Viewers were able to see the dog leaping confidently into the water, tail wagging as it paddled away from the board. What shocked viewers, however, was the cat's instinct to immediately follow, launching itself after the dog without hesitation. While cats are often portrayed as aloof or independent, this video offered a glimpse of a different side—one that values companionship so deeply it defies feline stereotypes. The reaction online has been swift and affectionate, with some commenters sharing their own stories of pets with unbreakable bonds while others simply poked fun at the lighthearted viral moment. "May this kind of loyalty find me one day," one viewer said. "Life is so weird sometimes," another added. "A cat swimming…Because it's needy…for a dog." Another asked: "Did the dog teach him how to swim?" "He's like I trust four legs more than two in the wild," a different viewer shared. "Or he's seen Homeward Bound and believes in his team mate." "Never seen a cat willingly jump into the water," another said, while another added: "They are definitely partners in crime." "You guys got it wrong that's an orange cat he wanted to let the dog know I can still get you if I want," another viewer said. "This is literally so cute I can't stand it," another commented. Dan Le Batard thinks Shannon Sharpe is done at ESPN after bombshell sexual assault scandal
The Shannon Sharpe era at ESPN is all but over. That's what Dan Le Batard speculated Tuesday following the Pro Football Hall of Famer's bombshell sexual assault scandal that rocked the sports world this spring, when Sharpe was accused of rape in a $50 million civil lawsuit and subsequently stepped away from the worldwide leader. 'I guess we probably all know at this point that Shannon Sharpe is not likely to ever work at ESPN again, right?' Le Batard, a former ESPN host, said on 'The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz' when discussing Max Kellerman's upcoming broadcast return to Netflix for the Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford fight. 4 Shannon Sharpe stepped away from ESPN in April 2025 after being accused of sexual assault in a bombshell lawsuit. Getty Images for SiriusXM 4 Dan Le Batard speculated the NFL Hall of Famer's time at ESPN is all but over following the allegations. YouTube 'I think we can assume, I think we can reasonably assume that Shannon Sharpe would like it to look like he has a chance to return, but I don't know that you can be Disney and allow any of what happened there.' Sharpe, 56, joined ESPN's 'First Take' in 2023 after his departure from FS1's 'Undisputed' with Skip Bayless earlier in the year. In April, the legendary tight end was named in a complaint filed in Nevada state court alleging assault, sexual assault, battery and sexual battery. 4 Shannon Sharpe began appearing on ESPN's 'First Take' in 2023. Getty Images The plaintiff claimed Sharpe sexually assaulted her multiple times in late 2024 and early 2025. Sharpe denied 'all allegations of coercion or misconduct' in a statement through his legal counsel, who claimed the three-time Super Bowl champion's accuser shared a 'secretly recorded' and 'heavily edited' video with him, alleging to illustrate a nonconsensual encounter. 'Mr. Sharpe categorically denies all allegations of coercion or misconduct — especially the gross lie of 'rape' — and will not submit to what he sees as an egregious attempt at blackmail,' Sharpe's attorney, Lanny J. Davis, said. 'He stands firmly by the truth and is prepared to fight these false claims vigorously in court.' Sharpe then stepped away from ESPN, noting he anticipated returning 'at the start of the NFL preseason.' 4 The three-time Super Bowl winner also hosts the 'Club Shay Shay' and 'Night Cap' programs. YouTube 'At this juncture I am electing to step aside temporarily from my ESPN duties. I will be devoting this time to my family, and responding and dealing with these false and disruptive allegations set against me,' Sharpe said in a statement at the time. ESPN told The Post, 'This is a serious situation, and we agree with Shannon's decision to step away.' Stephen A. Smith, the network's $100 million star, said in May he is 'hopeful' for Sharpe's return as the NFL season approaches. 'He is emphatic that he is innocent of those things,' Smith said on Big Boy TV. 'But the court of public opinion is what the Disneys of the world and others concern themselves with. That's a more immediate issue. 'And unfortunately, that has worked against him at this particular moment in time. So, I'm hopeful this will all go away. I'm hopeful that I'll have my brother back on the airwaves talking football next season.' Sharpe still hosts his 'Club Shay Shay' podcast and 'Nightcap' with Chad Ochocinco.

June Lockhart Turns 100: A Celebration Of The Beloved Actress
HOLLYWOOD, CA - DECEMBER 04: June Lockhart arrives at The Actor's Fund 2014 The Looking Ahead ... More Awards held at Taglyan Cultural Complex on December 4, 2014 in Hollywood, California. (Photo by Michael Tran/FilmMagic) Today we wish June Lockhart, the veteran actress and television icon a Happy 100th Birthday! Naturally, we immediately think of June Lockhart for her roles as TV mothers. First there was Ruth Martin in Lassie, young Timmy's (Jon Provost) Mom from 1958 to 1964. Ms. Lockhart replaced Cloris Leachman (who in turn replaced Jan Clayton). Then there was Maureen Robinson in Lost in Space, mother to Judy (Marta Kristen), Penny (Angela Cartwright) and Will (Bill Mumy) from 1965 to 1968. And, finally, Janet Craig, the surrogate Mom of sorts to Billie Jo (Meredith MacRae), Bobbie Jo (Lori Saunders) and Betty Jo (Linda Kaye Henning) following the passing of Bea Benaderet in rural-themed sitcom Petticoat Junction from 1968 to 1970. (Photo by CBS via Getty Images) But let's go back to the beginning when June Lockhart made her film debut at age 13 opposite her parents - Gene and Kathleen Lockhart - in a film version of A Christmas Carol in 1938. Numerous other films followed in her teen years, including All This, and Heaven Too (1940), Adam Had Four Sons (1941), Sergeant York (1941), Miss Annie Rooney (1942) and the Judy Garland musical Meet Me in St. Louis (1944). And a glimpse into her future, perhaps, came in 1945 in The Son of Lassie. Lockhart is also a stage actress, particularly in the play For Love or Money, where she was cited as a 'promising movie actress in her own right' and received a special Tony Award for Outstanding Performance by a Newcomer in 1948. And she launched her lengthy career on television with a guest spot in the dramatic anthology Appointment with Adventure in 1955. (Photo by) There were dozens of TV guest role until Lockhart debuted for the first of 208 episodes on Lassie in 1958. In 1964, one year prior to Lost in Space, she appeared in Perry Mason, Bewitched, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, and The Man From U.N.C.L.E. More guest spots followed throughout the course of Lockhart's lengthy acting career, including on Happy Days, Magnum, P.I., Falcon Crest, Knots Landing, Hotel, Full House, Roseanne, The Drew Carey Show and Grey's Anatomy. She was a voice actress, providing the voice of Martha Day, the lead character in the Hanna-Barbera animated series These Are the Days on ABC during the 1970s. She was active as a celebrity participant on the game show circuit (which included Password, The Match Game, I've Got a Secret and What's My Line?). And she appeared as a hostess on the Miss USA Pageant on CBS for six years, the Miss Universe Pageant on CBS for six years, the Tournament of Roses Parade on CBS for eight years, and the Thanksgiving Parade on CBS for five years. Lockhart has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one for motion pictures and one for television. And, in 2021, she returned to her Lost in Space roots as the voice of Alpha Control in an episode of the reboot on Netflix. Here's to you, Mrs. Robinson! And a very Happy 100th Birthday!
