Iran strikes-damaged Haifa Refinery likely to restart by Oct
Jerusalem, June 30 (UNI) The Haifa refinery, which was damaged by Iran's strikes, is likely to fully resume operations by October, the Times of Israel newspaper reported, citing refinery owner Bazan.
It was previously reported that three people had been killed at Bazan facilities as a result of an Iranian missile attack that occurred on the night of June 16.
The company said in a report to the regulator that it was gradually resuming operations and will likely be fully operational by October, the newspaper said.
Earlier, Israel's state broadcaster Kan reported that the oil refinery of Israel's Bazan Group in the port city of Haifa had stopped working after an Iranian missile hit a power plant on the site. Iran's state broadcaster IRIB confirmed that Iran had launched a missile strike on the refinery.

New Delhi, June 30 (UNI) With India set to hold the chair of BRICS next year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil for the 17th BRICS Summit, holds even more significance. The BRICS Summit is taking place on July 6 and 7. Prime Minister Modi will arrive in Brazil the July 5 evening, to attend the main programme, which is on July 6. The theme of the Rio Summit is Strengthening Global South Cooperation for Inclusive and Sustainable Governance. The program on July 6 includes the first agenda item, the Reform of the Global Governance, where only the full BRICS members will participate. And thereafter, there is the second item on the agenda, the Peace and Security, in a working lunch format, where the leaders will discuss the agenda item. Leaders' statements will be issued later. The BRICS has 10 full members and 12 partner countries, as well as eight invited countries at the Head of State, Government level, and seven heads of regional and multilateral bodies. Post-lunch, the third item on the agenda is the Strengthening Multilateralism, Economic Financial Affairs, and Artificial Intelligence. Later there will be an official reception and all the leaders will be participating. On July 7, the fourth item of the agenda is environment, COP30, and Global Health. Brazil will also be hosting COP30 in November this year. 'As you know, the BRICS process is led by the Chair and they set the agenda, but the decisions are in a consensus-based format. We are hopeful that there will be four deliverables, although discussions are continuing still at the Sherpa and the Sous-Sherpa level. India, Bhutan hold Development Cooperation Talks, review progress in implementation of approved projects
New Delhi, June 30 (UNI) India and Bhutan held their Development Cooperation Talks in New Delhi today, during which they reviewed the progress in implementation of the projects approved in previous rounds. The Indian side conveyed that it will continue to work together with the Royal Government of Bhutan on its development agenda, in line with the shared vision of His Majesty the King of Bhutan and Prime Minister of India, and based on the priorities of the Royal Government and the people of Bhutan. The Indian delegation was led by Secretary (West) Tanmaya Lal, and the Bhutanese delegation was led by Foreign Secretary of Bhutan Aum Pema Choden. India and Bhutan share an exemplary partnership characterised by trust, goodwill, mutual understanding at all levels, and strong bonds of friendship and close people-to-people ties. The Development Cooperation Talks are an important bilateral mechanism to review the full spectrum of India-Bhutan development partnership, a statement said. Government of India (GoI) has committed support of INR/Nu. 10,000 Crore (100 billion) for Bhutan's 13th Five Year Plan period (2024-2029) which would cover Project Tied Assistance (PTA) projects, High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDP), support for Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) and budgetary support in the form of Programme the Talks, the two sides discussed various components of the support and reviewed the progress in implementation of the projects approved in previous rounds. A total of 61 Project Tied Assistance projects amounting to INR/Nu 4958 crores (49.58 billion) and 283 HICDPs amounting to INR/Nu 417 crores (4.17 billion) covering a wide range of sectors are in various stages of implementation. Both sides agreed to make suitable revisions to the allocations for some of the PTA projects taking into account the evolving requirements. GoI has also released INR/Nu 750 crores (7.50 billion) towards ESP and Rs. 100 crores (1 billion) as Programme Grant. The meeting reviewed the progress in the utilization of these funds. The Bhutanese side presented the second tranche of PTA project proposals to be implemented during the 13th FYP period. A total of 10 projects amounting to INR/Nu. 1113 Crores (11.13 billion), covering sectors such as healthcare, connectivity, urban infrastructure and livestock were approved by the two sides. The Talks were held in a friendly and cordial atmosphere in keeping with the well-established tradition of regular exchanges and unique bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries. India's Agni-5 missile to gain 7,500 kg warhead for deep underground strikes
India has begun developing a new class of high-powered missiles with bunker-buster capabilities to strike heavily fortified underground targets. The Agni-5 missiles have a range of over 5,000 kms and carries conventional weapons. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is working on a modified version of the Agni-5 intercontinental ballistic missile, designed to penetrate reinforced subterranean facilities, India Today reported. This development follows the recent use of Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) bombs, which are bunker-buster weapons, by the United States against Iranian nuclear sites. While the existing Agni-5 missile has a range of over 5,000 km and carries conventional warheads, the upgraded variant will reportedly be capable of delivering a 7,500 kg bunker-buster warhead. The new missile is intended to target enemy installations buried beneath layers of concrete, with the ability to penetrate 80 to 100 metres underground. India's intent to match US capabilities The United States on June 22 launched surprise strikes on a key underground uranium enrichment site at Fordow, along with nuclear facilities in Isfahan and Natanz. The US used the B-2 bombers to drop a dozen bunker-buster bombs on Fordow and Natanz nuclear sites. While the US is relying on large and expensive bomber aircraft, India is planning to design its bunker buster to be delivered using missiles. While the US bunker buster bombs are large and require costly bomber aircraft, India is planning to develop the missile with greater flexibility, cost-efficiency, and rapid response capability. Two variants under development The report further said that two new variants of the Agni-5 missiles are under development. The first variant would offer an airburst warhead for above-ground targets, while the latter would be a deep-penetrating missile designed to burrow into hardened subterranean infrastructure. Donald Trump answers It added that the warhead would weigh around eight tonnes, while the range of the weapon would be reduced to 2,500 kms. Moreover, the missiles are expected to be hypersonic weapons, expected to reach the speeds between Mach 8 and March 20. The new Agni-5 variant would be crucial for India's armament for targeting command-and-control centres, missile silos, and critical military infrastructure.
