Hundreds of motorcyclists undertake the Ride for Freedom
DIMONDALE, Mich. (WLNS) — Hundreds of motorcyclists rode from Dimondale to the State Capitol over the weekend for an event called 'Ride for Freedom,' a nationwide initiative bringing awareness to veterans, prisoners of war, and those who are missing in action.
Rolling Thunder hosted the event, and just after noon, the bikers arrived at the Capitol to show the spirit of remembrance and unity. The Veterans Memorial Freedom Ride is a time to honor those who are lost.
'But there's one man here in town, Arthur Wright, disappeared Feb. 21, 1967,' said Doug Pickle, organizer of the event. 'He's still unknown, since then and right up till now, we're still keeping his name out there because he's unaccounted for.'
But it goes deeper than that. The event is also an opportunity to hear the stories of those we have lost in the line of duty and a message to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice—that they deserve to heal from the pain of their past.
Pickle, the organizer, says the event is designed to educate people about these veterans.
'And this is an area that everybody forgets. Nobody even knows what a POW is, to be honest with you. So, Rolling Thunder is here today,' said Pickle. 'To teach people what our POWs and MIAs, prisoners of war and missing in action, go through—what the families are going through. This is the importance of this rally today and this ride today. We're honoring everybody who's killed in the line of duty.'
He also says he wants to give people a way to remember.
'Michigan POW/MIA memorial, and it's going to be in Mount Pleasant, Michigan,' said Pickle. 'It's gonna be every Michigan resident who was ever taken as a prisoner of war or missing in action from the Civil War all the way to present.'

Multiple people injured in carjacking spree across Nashville
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Multiple people were injured in a carjacking spree across Nashville Thursday night. Officers were first called to a parking lot in the 2400 block of Charlotte Pike around 10:45 p.m. A driver called for help after a man not wearing a shirt approached his Tesla, opened the door and told him to get out. He then punched the victim in the head multiple times, dragged him from the vehicle and tried to drive away. Teen killed in street racing crash on Anderson Road in Antioch The Tesla was linked to the victim's phone so the suspect could not drive away with the phone outside the vehicle. The suspect got out and chased the victim around the parking lot before turning to an occupied Toyota Prius. The driver of the Prius told officers the man opened the driver's side door, punched him in the head, pulled him from the vehicle and drove away. The Prius was later located on 30th Avenue South. Officers were then called to the McDonald's on West End Avenue for a carjacking attempt. That victim said he was sitting in his Prius when the man opened the door, assaulted him and tried to take his vehicle. He was unsuccessful and ran away. ⏩ The suspect was then located on 21st Avenue South and taken into custody. All victims identified him as the man who attacked them. Extreme temperatures this weekend, followed up by showers
The Grand Valley will be exceptionally hot today! Sunny skies will dominate the region today as temperatures exceed 90 degrees. Some gusty outflow winds of up to 20 miles per hour can be expected all day as well. Tonight, expect conditions to remain relatively clear with overnight lows reaching the low sixties. This week is ending with a lot of above average conditions, but tomorrow is planned to be even hotter than today, so prepare for a warm weekend!Isolated to scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected for the next few days, with decreasing day-to-day coverage. Temperatures remaining warm, peaking this weekend with highs about 10 degrees above normal for June 1. This pattern is expected to turn wetter Sunday night through Tuesday, with widespread precipitation favored. The National Weather Service still has uncertainty in amounts and location of heaviest Great Basin near Nevada has high pressure sitting over the area and ridging extending into north Canada. This ridge will gradually shift east towards the western slope by Sunday. Strong heating during the day will trap a lot of moisture higher in the region, and when it is finally able to cool down a bit in the later hours it is expected to dump all of that moisture in the form of showers. Coverage of these scattered storms today will become more isolated Saturday and Sunday. The primary threats from this convection will be lightning and strong outflow winds gusting 40 to 50 miles per hour. Temperatures today will run five to eight degrees above normal for the end of May, warming to eight to 10 degrees above normal tomorrow and peaking 10 to 12 degrees above normal showers and possibly thunderstorms for Sunday night seem more and more likely, but the main storm will occur Monday. A big pattern change is set to arrive on Monday as remnant moisture from tropical storm Alvin arrives in tandem with forcing from a low pressure system. 6-year-old boy missing near Lutz found safe, deputies say
LUTZ, Fla. (WFLA)— A missing child alert has been canceled for a missing six-year-old who was last seen in the Lutz area. Pasco County Sheriff's have found Axel Rhodes, 6, and Jennifer Breeding, 52. Rhodes has dirty blonde hair and brown eyes. He was last seen on Friday around 1:15 a.m. in the Dale Mabry Highway area of Lutz. Rhodes was last seen wearing a multi-colored button-up shirt, jeans, and no shoes. According to deputies, Rhodes was last seen traveling with Jennifer Breeding, a 52-year-old who is also missing. Breeding is 5'4″, around 150 pounds, with gray hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing blue jeans. Breeding could be driving a green 2017 Chevrolet Camaro SS with black racing stripes, and has an Arkansas tag ULLOSE.
