Trump's JFK file release left out two-thirds of promised documents, expert says

Yahoo19-03-2025

President Donald Trump's administration released thousands of classified documents related to the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy, but researchers say the trove excluded two-thirds of the promised files.
On his third day in office, Trump ordered a 'full and complete release of all John F. Kennedy assassination records,' with researchers anticipating some 3,500 documents that had never been shared with the public.
The highly anticipated document dump happened Tuesday — but some experts say that only a third of the redacted files were released.
One of those experts is Jefferson Morley, the vice president at the Mary Ferrell Foundation, a database on the JFK assassination files.
Tuesday's release is 'an encouraging start,' Morley posted on X late Tuesday. But he also noted that only approximately 1,124 of the withheld documents had been released. The tranche didn't include two-thirds of the promised files, any of the 500 IRS records or the recently discovered FBI files, he noted.
Last month, the FBI said it had found about 2,400 records relating to the assassination.
'Nonetheless, this is the most positive news on the declassification of JFK files since the 1990s,' Morley continued.
'These long-secret records shed new light on JFK's mistrust of the CIA, the Castro assassination plots, the surveillance of Oswald in Mexico City, and CIA propaganda operations involving Oswald,' he said.
The release of the records regarding Kennedy, who was assassinated during a visit to Dallas, could potentially put an end to the many conspiracy theories that have surrounded his death for decades.
"People have been waiting for decades for this," Trump said Monday at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. "We have a tremendous amount of paper. You've got a lot of reading. I don't believe we're going to redact anything.'
The files described 24-year-old Lee Harvey Oswald — who was arrested for the assassination but killed before he was tried — as a 'poor shot.'
Larry J. Sabato, director of the University of Virginia Center for Politics and author of 'The Kennedy Half-Century,' told the Associated Press that reviewing the released records will take some time.
'We have a lot of work to do for a long time to come, and people just have to accept that,' Sabato said.

Rogan reacts live to Elon's 'crazy' Epstein accusation against Trump while interviewing FBI director

Podcaster Joe Rogan was shocked as he read billionaire Elon Musk's wild allegations against President Donald Trump on Thursday. Musk dropped a bomb on social media when he alleged Trump was in the Jeffrey Epstein files after a series of escalating back-and-forth social media messages between him and the president. This accusation occurred as part of a larger tirade against Trump and Republican leaders over the "Big Beautiful Bill." In the episode, which was recorded Thursday but released Friday, a "Joe Rogan Experience" producer interrupted the host's live interview with FBI director Kash Patel to inform him of Musk's Epstein tweet. Rogan read the tweet out loud, "'Time to drop the really big bomb Donald Trump is in the Epstein files, that's the real reason they have not been made public, have a nice day.' "Jesus Christ," he said in shock. "I'm not participating in any of that conversation," Patel said. "Someone should take his phone away," Rogan said as he marveled at Musk's tweet. "Jesus Christ, that's a crazy thing to say. How does he know? Does he know that Donald Trump is in the Epstein files? Does he have access to the Epstein files?" "I don't know how he would," the FBI director said, again insisting he would stay out of the feud. "What the f--- are they doing?" Rogan asked. "I understand he owns Twitter, I think it's bad for your mental health," Rogan said. "I think posting things public all day and arguing with people all day is bad for you." "This is an unfortunate episode from Elon, who is unhappy with the One Big Beautiful BIll because it does not include the policies he wanted," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said. "The President is focused on passing this historic piece of legislation and making our country great again." The White House said a source familiar with the Epstein matter said it is widely known that Trump kicked Epstein out of his Palm Beach Golf Club. The source also pointed out that the administration released the Epstein files, which included Trump's name, and nothing was new about Musk's revelation. "If Elon truly thought the President was more deeply involved with Epstein, why did he hang out with him for 6 months and say he 'loves him as much as a straight man can love a straight man?'" the source said. Shortly after Musk posted about Trump being in the Epstein file, Trump posted his response to Truth Social. "I don't mind Elon turning against me, but he should have done so months ago. This is one of the Greatest Bills ever presented to Congress," Trump said, turning his attention to the "big, beautiful bill" that is before the Senate. "It's a Record Cut in Expenses, $1.6 Trillion Dollars, and the Biggest Tax Cut ever given. If this Bill doesn't pass, there will be a 68% Tax Increase, and things far worse than that." "I didn't create this mess, I'm just here to FIX IT. This puts our Country on a Path of Greatness. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!" the president added.

Joe Rogan Blown Away by Trump-Musk Meltdown Mid-Interview

Joe Rogan found out about the Elon Musk-Donald Trump war in the middle of taping his new interview with Kash Patel. Trump's FBI director was defending himself from reports that he'd drastically reduced briefing meetings at the Bureau during the Joe Rogan Experience taping on Thursday when Rogan's producer cut in. After Rogan read aloud Musk's tweet accusing Trump of being named in the Epstein files, he exclaimed, 'What the f--- are they doing?' In an afternoon post on X, Musk wrote that it was 'Time to drop the really big bomb,' as he claimed Trump 'is in the Epstein files' and 'that is the real reason they have not been made public.' He added, 'Have a nice day, DJT!' Musk's sarcasm about the 'bomb' he'd dropped really seemed to surprise Rogan just as much as the information itself. ''Have a nice day, DJT'?' Rogan read again, incredulous. 'Someone should take his phone away.' Musk and Trump had reached the climax of their public spat on Thursday, just after Trump threatened to cut billions of dollars in government contracts and subsidies that support Musk's businesses. The threat prompted the Tesla CEO to go nuclear in their war of words. 'Jesus Christ, that's a crazy thing to say,' Rogan said after reading Musk's tweet. 'How does he know?' he then asked Patel. 'Does he know that Donald Trump is in the Epstein files? Does he have access to the Epstein files?' Patel, who was also apparently learning about the major escalation in real time, was coy. 'I don't know how he would, but I'm just staying out of the Trump Elon thing. That's way outside my lane,' he said. 'I know my lane and that ain't it.' Rogan's takeaway was that social media had soured Musk's 'mental health.' 'I understand he owns Twitter. I think it's bad for your mental health. I think posting things public all day and arguing with people all day is bad for you,' Rogan said. Patel insisted earlier on in the interview he was 'working his a-- off' to give the American public the information on the Epstein case that 'we're allowed to give you.' He had also declared he'd never 'participate in hiding information about Epstein's grotesque activities' as Rogan grilled him about the night Epstein died. 'You're gonna get the video of the cell and you're gonna see for yourself,' he said of the soon to be released video footage from the night of Epstein's death, to try and dispel rumors that he was murdered. Rogan questioned why the video wasn't 'released immediately,' to which Patel responded by seemingly blaming former U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr. But no matter what people see, he added, 'We will never be able to convince everyone.'

Proud Boys members file federal lawsuit over 'illegal' tactics in Jan. 6 prosecutions

Five members of the Proud Boys are suing the U.S. government and certain employees in the FBI and Department of Justice for $100 million over their Jan. 6 prosecutions. Enrique Tarrio, Zachary Rehl, Ethan Nordean, Joseph Biggs and Dominic Pezzola allege in the lawsuit the FBI and DOJ violated their constitutional rights with their prosecution over what prosecutors said was their planning of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. In a document filed in a Florida federal court and obtained by Fox News Digital, the men claim "egregious and systemic abuse of the legal system and the United States Constitution to punish and oppress political allies of President Trump, by any and all means necessary, legal, or illegal. "Through the use of evidence tampering, witness intimidation, violations of attorney-client privilege, and placing spies to report on trial strategy, the government got its fondest wish of imprisoning the J6 Defendants, the modern equivalent of placing one's enemies' heads on a spike outside the town wall as a warning to any who would think to challenge the status quo." Read On The Fox News App Four of the five men were convicted of seditious conspiracy after the attack, and Tarrio faced the harshest punishment — 22 years for planning the attack — of any of the Jan. 6 defendants, according to The Wall Street Journal. Nordean was sentenced to 18 years, Biggs was sentenced to 17 years and Rehl was sentenced to 15 years. Pezzola was found guilty of conspiracy to obstruct Congress and sentenced to 10 years in prison. However, President Donald Trump pardoned or commuted the sentences of nearly all the defendants after he took office this year, including Tarrio, Rehl, Nordean, Biggs and Pezzola. Trump Administration Agrees To Pay Ashli Babbitt's Family $5 Million All the men except Tarrio were at the U.S. Capitol Jan. 6, according to the Journal. Tarrio had been barred from entering Washington, D.C., because of a previous arrest, The Washington Post reported. "Now that the Plaintiffs are vindicated, free, and able to once again exercise their rights as American citizens, they bring this action against their tormentors for violations of their Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Amendment Rights … as well as the common law tort of malicious prosecution and false imprisonment," the suit adds. Prosecutors said Pezzola was seen on video using a police riot shield to commit the first breach of the U.S. Capitol Jan. 6. Prosecutors alleged the men were charged under a "novel theory of criminal conspiracy called the 'tool theory,'" according to the suit. "Despite the legal jiggery-pokery employed by the government to obscure the fact, the Plaintiffs were essentially convicted of 'stochastic terrorism,' a leftist bugbear used to describe rhetoric offensive to them that they claim provokes violent acts." The men also claimed in the lawsuit that the government didn't have probable cause to raid their article source: Proud Boys members file federal lawsuit over 'illegal' tactics in Jan. 6 prosecutions
