Get the passing game to work.The defense will be far, far better, but it still won't be the 1985 Chicago Bears. Being slightly improved still won't be enough, and the offense will have to keep up.Last year's Purdue attack only threw for more than 220 yards four times, and all four times it went for 290 or more. Out of those four games, two went to overtime, one was the paycheck win over Indiana State, and the other was a good battle with Michigan State.

TJ Lindsey, DT RFr.And Jamarrion Harkless, and Marcus Moore, and Ian Jeffries, and all of the Purdue defensive tackles. Last year's crew wasn't awful, but everyone who wanted to hammer away with the ground game against this bunch, did.Lindsey is a 6-3, 295-pound former good recruit for Auburn, but he only saw a little bit of time last year. The talent and upside are there, and the sooner he becomes the program's defensive anchor - if he's able to get there - the better.

Top Transfer In: CJ Nunnally IV, EDGE Sr.No, he's not the most talented player coming in, and other more important defenders need to step up, but no Purdue transfer has the proven production.Nunnally was steady in his two seasons at Akron - he was fine against Ohio State, South Carolina, and Rutgers, along with his play in the MAC - making 121 tackles with 13 sacks and 26 tackles for loss.
Top Transfer Out: Dillon Thieneman, S Jr.Thieneman is one of the best players in college football who hasn't achieved a national spotlight, making 210 tackles, six picks - all the interceptions as a freshman - with nine broken up passes and seven tackles for loss. He'll be an All-Big Ten performer again, but now he'll be that at Oregon.

Unlike last year, Purdue will be on the right side of the close games, but there won't be a ton of them.By the end of October, Purdue should be as jelled as they're going to be.
