The Norwegian achieved the mammoth milestone in the freestyle rankings recently released by the Freestyle Chess Organisation.
Carlsen is proud as punch with his achievement, although he's seemingly happier by the potential effect it'll have on his intimacy with his other half, Ella Victoria.
Carslen, who is better known on the chess circuit as Fischer Chess, said: "A new standard has been set."
The five-time world champion then joked: "My wife is way more attracted to me now that I've achieved 2900."
Carlsen tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend in January in a beautiful ceremony with their friends and family.
Ella has been supportive of her hubby's passion for chess from the moment they met.
So much so that she's a regular at his events.
Carlsen will likely soon be joined in the over-2900 club by at least three of his rivals.

Chelsea 'open talks to sign PSG star' amid doubts over Nicolas Jackson's future after his 'stupid' red card at the Club World Cup

Chelsea have opened talks to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani, according to a report. Kolo Muani joined the French side from Eintracht Frankfurt for £76million in 2023 but struggled for regular playing time. The 26-year-old moved to Juventus on loan in January and has thrived in Italy with 10 goals in 20 appearances across all competitions. Juventus are said to be keen on keeping the forward, who scored a brace in their 5-1 win over Al -Ain in the Club World Cup. However, they face competition from Chelsea, who have entered negotiations to sign Kolo Muani, according to L'Equipe. Enzo Maresca 's side have already strengthened their attack this summer with the £30m arrival of Liam Delap from Ipswich. The Blues' interest in Kolo Muani comes amid doubts over Nicolas Jackson's future at Stamford Bridge. Jackson has led the line for Chelsea over the last past seasons, scoring 30 goals in 80 appearances across all competitions. However, he has drawn criticism from fans and pundits for his lack of efficiency in front of goal as well as his poor discipline, having been sent off in Chelsea's 3-1 loss to Flamengo in the Club World Cup. Just a month ago, Jackson's Premier League season ended prematurely when he was sent off for a similar challenge against Newcastle on May 11 and handed a three-match ban. And Obi Mikel, who was working as a pundit for DAZN did not hold back when he was asked about the latest incident. '(It was) Unbelievable. Stupid, stupid, stupid mistake,' said Obi Mikel won two Premier League titles and the Champions League with Chelsea. 'I don't know what was going through his head. You come into the game, you are 2-1 down at that point. Your team needs you. And he does that. 'He did it in a league game at Newcastle. Again, a very important game which we needed to win to qualify for the Champions League. He did that, he got a red card. And now he's done this. You can't keep making mistakes.' But it was when host Ke lySomers suggested that Jackson's frustration may have boiled over from frustration at losing his place to Delap that Obi Mikel really lost his cool. 'I don't care what his frustration is,' Obi Mikel reacted angrily. 'It's a football club. It's a massive football club and it's about competition. If you're p***ed off that Delap's coming to the football club and he's going to be the competition with you... you have to embrace it if you are a big player. 'Because the only way you are going to win trophies if is if you are compete against each other.' It was at this point that Somers was forced to say sorry to viewers for her guest's language. 'Lots of emotion in the studio, so apologies for any language used there,' she said, holding out both hands in a calming gesture towards Obi Mikel. After the match, Jackson took to social media to apologise for his actions. Writing on Instagram, he said: 'I want to say sorry. To the club, the staff, my team-mates, and all the fans watching, I let you down. Another red card... and honestly, I'm so angry at myself. 'I work hard every day to help the team not to put us in this kind of situation. I still don't fully understand how it happened. But one thing is clear: it wasn't intentional. Just a football moment that went the wrong way. No excuses. I take full responsibility.

Angela Livingstone obituary

My friend Angela Livingstone, who has died aged 90, was a translator and university teacher of literature known for playing a key role in making the most innovative works of 20th-century Russian literature accessible to the English-speaking world. Her publications include edited selections of writings by Boris Pasternak and Marina Tsvetaeva and masterful translations of their prose and poetry, among them Tsvetaeva's 'lyrical satire' The Ratcatcher and verse-drama Phaedra, both previously unknown in English. She also published Pasternak: Modern Judgements (1969), a groundbreaking book of critical essays (in collaboration with the poet and critic Donald Davie), a monograph on Pasternak's Doctor Zhivago (1989) and, late in her life, a collection of her own poems, Certain Roses (2017). Elaine Feinstein, reviewing Phaedra in PN Review in 2013, observed that Angela's version 'not only extends our understanding of a great Russian poet, but also illuminates the spirit of her translator, who is as little interested in the commonplace values of the everyday world as the poet she translates'. Angela and I got to know each other in 1999 when, as features editor at the BBC Russian Service, I made a programme on her translation of The Ratcatcher. It was Tsvetaeva's breathtaking sound patterns and rhythms, and Pasternak's stream of striking images that gave Angela, in seeking to translate them, 'a pleasure which is not like any other', she said. Like her favourite poets, Angela possessed a childlike ability to experience everything, however familiar, as if for the first time. She also loved Andrei Platonov for his peculiar use of language and described his great novel Chevengur of 1928 as 'a prose of concealed poetry', transposing 50 passages from it into English verse, published as Poems from Chevengur in 2004. Angela was born in Hayes, Middlesex (now the London Borough of Hillingdon), to Albert Hobbs, a further education lecturer in mechanical engineering, and his wife, Edith (nee Parker), a primary school teacher. Her love for literature and languages was kindled at Greenford county grammar school, and at Cambridge University, where she gained a first-class degree in German and Russian. At university she met Rodney Livingstone, a fellow student, who later became professor of German at Southampton University, and they married in 1959. Angela worked in the department of literature at Essex University for more than 30 years, becoming professor and its head in 1992 before retiring in 1996. Her first marriage ended in divorce in 1971. In 2014 she married Alan Palmer. He died in 2019. She is survived by Sonia and Benjamin, the children from her first marriage, four grandchildren and her sister, Pamela.

Bayern Munich 'interested in signing Arsenal regular this summer - and the Gunners would be OPEN to listening to offers for £50m man'

Bayern Munich are lining up an ambitious move for a regular Arsenal starter this summer, a new report in Germany has claimed. Keen to strengthen their frontline before next season, Bayern bosses have drawn up a five-man shortlist and one Gunners player is said to have made the cut. It is said that Arsenal would even be willing to listen to acceptable offers for the player, who has been capped almost 20 times for his country. According to Bild reporter Christian Falk, forward Gabriel Martinelli is an option for the Bundesliga heavyweights, who missed out on signing Florian Wirtz to Liverpool. Bayern are rumoured to also be keen on Athletic Bilbao ace Nico Williams, who looks Barcelona bound, as well as Liverpool duo Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo. Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens, who has attracted interest from Chelsea and been the subject of several rounds of talks, has admirers at Bayern, too. The Times have floated the possibility of Martinelli moving on from the Emirates in this window, with the club reportedly looking to bring down their wage bill. The publication claims he could become part of the clear-out alongside Oleksandr Zinchenko, Reiss Nelson, Jakub Kiwior, Fabio Vieira and Albert Sambi Lokonga. Martinelli joined Arsenal from Ituano in a deal worth just £5million in 2019. He has played 225 times for the club, scoring 51 goals and registering 29 assists. The winger is tied down until the summer of 2027 and according to The Athletic, Arsenal's hierarchy would demand offers in excess of £50m to tempt them into a sale. They also hold the option to extend his contract by a further year. Martinelli, meanwhile, has indicated he has no desire to leave the club. 'This is my home,' he said in April. 'I love to be here. I love the club.' On the incomings front, Arsenal are looking to sign a striker this summer but are reported to have met a stumbling block in their pursuit of Benjamin Sesko. The Sun have reported that there is a growing frustration over the RB Leipzig frontman's wage demands. He is valued at around £70m. Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres is viewed as an alternative to Sesko.
