Ivey has missed 51 games, including the playoffs, since the injury Jan. 1, when Orlando Magic guard Cole Anthony upended him while diving for a loose ball.
The injury timeline recovery for a fractured fibula is typically 4-6 months. Ivey had surgery Jan. 2, meaning he is just shy of four months since surgery.

Jaden Ivey contract
Ivey is in Year 3 of his four-year, $32.9 million rookie-scale contract signed in 2022 after he was the fifth overall pick by the Pistons out of Purdue.

Ivey made $7.9 million this season, and the Pistons picked up his fourth-year option worth $10.1 million, according to Spotrac.
Ivey is eligible for a rookie extension this summer. If no deal is reached, he would play out the final year of his rookie contract in the 2025-26 season. That summer, the Pistons would almost certainly make him a qualifying offer to make him a restricted free agent, which would allow the club to match any potential offer from another team.

Details Emerge on New York Knicks' Karl-Anthony Towns Decision
Details Emerge on New York Knicks' Karl-Anthony Towns Decision originally appeared on Athlon Sports. It was an impressive season for the New York Knicks despite them coming up just short of reaching the NBA Finals. Advertisement New York finished third in the Eastern Conference in the regular season and they were then able to make a run to the Eastern Conference Finals after they eliminated both the Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics. This was the Knicks' first Conference Finals appearance since 2000 but they were unable to advance to the NBA Finals after being eliminated in six games by the Indiana Pacers. New York Knicks stars Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns© Petre Thomas-Imagn Images While the Knicks did fall short of making the NBA Finals, it was still a successful season as their new core helped make them contenders once again. Of course, New York's addition of Karl-Anthony Towns from the Minnesota Timberwolves in the offseason was a huge factor to their success this season and a new report by The Athletic's James L. Edwards III and Jon Krawczynski recently revealed why New York made the trade. Advertisement 'New York saw Towns and (Jalen Brunson) as a damaging offensive duo,' Edwards III and Krawczynski wrote. 'One of the best scoring guards in the league could have one of the greatest shooting big men at his disposal. The organization also viewed it as a way to get value back for (Julius) Randle, as the two sides were nowhere close on a deal to keep him in New York long term.' This is a key report as it is clear that the Knicks and Randle were destined to be heading in opposite ways down the road, which allowed New York to capitalize on his value to add a superstar center next to Brunson. The two also reported that the Knicks were 'initially reluctant' to include Donte DiVincenzo in the deal but they decided to do so anyway to land Towns. Advertisement Despite this, the addition of Towns has made the Knicks into title contenders and they will now look to upgrade their roster again this summer to try and make a championship run next season. Josh Hart is glad Jay Wright isn't interested in Knicks head coaching job, saying 'Stay retired!'
Jay Wright has no interest in being the New York Knicks' next head coach and one of his former players is relieved about that decision. Wright — who coached Villanova to two national championships, four Final Fours and 642 wins — had been mentioned as a possible candidate for the Knicks opening. NBA teams have long been fascinated to see if Wright's success in college basketball could translate to the pros. Advertisement The Knicks were a particularly intriguing choice because three former Wildcats — Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges and Josh Hart — are star players on the roster. (Apologies to Donte DiVincenzo, who was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves last season. But he got an AT&T commercial out of it.) However, Wright told college basketball reporters Seth Davis and Matt Norlander that he is retired from coaching and wants to remain a studio analyst for CBS. That's not surprising since Wright is 63 years old and had always been a college coach during his nearly 40-year career, 28 as a head coach at Hofstra and Villanova. Perhaps taking those factors into consideration, Hart responded to news of Wright's desire to stay retired by saying "Man Thank You. Stay retired!" Hart was certainly successful playing for Wright at Villanova. He won a national championship in 2016, along with first-team All-American and Big East player of the year honors. That put him in position to be an NBA first-round pick, drafted No. 30 overall by the Utah Jazz in 2017. (Hart was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, also playing with the New Orleans Pelicans and Portland Trail Blazers before being traded to the Knicks.) Advertisement Wright reportedly also has a good relationship with Knicks president Leon Rose, with whom he communicates regularly. Yet that means Rose knows Wright well enough to be aware that he prefers to stay retired. The Knicks are apparently targeting experienced NBA head coaches in their search. They're reportedly expected to request permission to interview Dallas Mavericks coach Jason Kidd. The Houston Rockets have already declined a similar inquiry regarding their coach, Ime Udoka.

Cade Cunningham Tops NBA List With Other Elite Young Players
Cade Cunningham Tops NBA List With Other Elite Young Players originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Detroit Pistons are perhaps the most exciting young team in the NBA, and it's all thanks to Cade Cunningham. He broke out as a first-time All-Star this season and made the All-NBA team, and it's expected that he will lead the Pistons deep into the playoffs next season. Advertisement In the NBA, there is a clear hierarchy of young guards. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luka Doncic, both MVP frontrunners, lead the way, although Cunningham is ahead of some players who looked to be better than him earlier in their careers. Detroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham© Wendell Cruz-Imagn Images Lou Williams, after winning three Sixth Man of the Year Awards, knows talent when he sees it, and he thinks Cunningham will have a better career than Paolo Banchero and LaMelo Ball. "I got Cade still having the highest ceiling, Paolo was right there, and then I got to cut LaMelo Ball as having the highest ceiling," listed Lou Williams. "This was a tough one. All of these guys still got a lot of basketball to be played, a lot of things to accomplish in their careers. But for the most part, I feel like I got a good sense of where LaMelo Ball is in his career and what type of player that he's going to be. We're still writing a book on these other two guys. So I'm going to start Cade. I'm going to bench Paolo. And I'm going to have to cut LaMelo." Advertisement Both Banchero and Cunningham have led their teams to the playoffs, and both have given a higher seed some trouble. Ball, on the other hand, struggles to command his team and stay on the court. All three stars play in the East, although as the years tick by, the conference will likely run through Detroit and Orlando, once again passing Charlotte over.
