McLean believes the best is yet to come from award winner

And McLean, who accepted the award on Pearce's behalf, has backed the 28-year-old to add more to his trophy cabinet.
He said: 'Ollie is somebody I have watched for a few years and I had no doubt he could make the step up and replicate the numbers and the performances he has had.
'He is a very talented young man and somebody who is just going to continue breaking barriers and keep scoring goals. As well as being a brilliant footballer, he's a great lad as well.
'Sometimes players take time to adapt to surroundings and a higher standard of football but he has taken to it like a duck to water and his performances have been nothing short of magnificent.
'He fully deserves the award and I'm sure it won't be the last of his career.'
The National Game Awards is a celebration of the non-League season - highlighting the community, fans, on-field, and off-field successes of the game outside of the Football League.
The ceremony is held annually by the Non-League Paper, the UK's number one selling football title and the best place for your non-league news, with this year's edition hosted at Plough Lane – home of AFC Wimbledon.
McLean, who spent his early footballing years in Non-League with Aldershot Town and Grays Athletic between 2003 and 2007 in a career that eventually saw him feature for Hull City in the Premier League in 2013, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to be involved with the awards.
He revealed: 'At the end of the season, to be able to honour those in Non-League is exceptional and is something I'm privileged to be part of.
'I love it. It's my first time at these awards and it's something that hopefully in the years to come I'll be involved in and see all the faces and celebrate the things people do on and off the pitch."

Dundee United swoop for Aussie striker Zac Sapsford – with next arrival imminent

Dundee United have snapped up Australian prospect Zac Sapsford after the all-action forward opted to leave Western Sydney Wanderers. Sapsford, 22, has penned a three-year contract with the Tangerines. He is fresh from his most productive campaign in the A-League, notching nine goals and four assists in 26 appearances as the Wanderers finished fourth in the regular standings. They reached the playoffs before losing out to Melbourne Victory. Sapsford shone alongside Nicolas Milanovic – who joined Aberdeen for a six-figure fee this summer – in a youthful, dynamic front-three with Brandon Borello. Sapsford was on the books of the Sydneysiders for three years, having crossed the city divide from Sydney FC in 2022. He proceeded to score FIVE goals in six derbies against the Sky Blues, assuring cult hero status. It is hoped Sapsford will bring work ethic and mobility to the United attack, while he was named 'Playmaker of the Year' at the A-League end of season awards for 2025. United boss Jim Goodwin told United's official website: 'He's a dynamic forward with a killer instinct in the final third, off both feet or with his head. He also has the awareness to intelligently bring his teammates into play. 'We feel he's someone that will get our supporters out of their seats and we can rely on in big moments given his mentality and track record in those situations. 'Zac immediately bought into our vision for him and his development. I'm looking forward to closely monitoring his progression during his time in tangerine.' Sapsford becomes United's first capture of what promises to be a busy summer. The arrival of Moldova international Iurie Iovu likely to be rubber-stamped in the next 24 hours. United head of recruitment Ross Goodwin added: 'We fought off stiff competition from across the globe for his signature, so we're incredibly pleased to have the deal over the line so early in the window. 'We look forward to unveiling more exciting new signings for United fans to enjoy watching throughout the forthcoming seasons.'

Belfast Giants honour legendary head coach Adam Keefe with jersey retirement at testimonial

At a testimonial game in Keefe's honour, celebrating his 14 years of service to the Giants, in front of his family – including brother Sheldon, head coach of the NHL's New Jersey Devils – his jersey was raised to the rafters at the SSE Arena. It is the highest honour that can be bestowed in hockey and a wholly deserved one for Keefe, the team's most successful coach and an individual who is described as the "heartbeat" of the organisation. And now nobody will ever wear the No.47 jersey ever again as, after a heartfelt speech by Giants chairman Robert Fitzpatrick, the banner was lofted above the West End net where it will forever stay. The jersey raising ceremony was followed by the testimonial, which took the form of a round-robin tournament between former team-mates and players that Keefe has coached split into four teams named after Keefe's former teams. Current Belfast stars such as captain Mark Cooper, David Goodwin, Ben Lake and Jackson Whistle all featured, while fellow retired jerseys Rob Stewart, Colin Shields and Graeme Walton also took part, with Todd Kelman and Shane Johnson taking their place as coaches alongside Sheldon Keefe. Joining the organisation in 2011 as a hard-nosed forward and quickly establishing himself as captain in only his second season in Belfast, Keefe would win two Elite League titles with the Giants as a player but it is as coach that his legacy has been taken to another level. In his seven seasons in charge, Keefe has delivered ten trophies to the Giants out of a possible 19, including the Grand Slam in 2023 as his all-conquering side swept all before them to secure League, Challenge Cup and Play-Off glory. Last season the Brampton, Ontario native led the Giants to their fourth League title under his stewardship, winning a dramatic final day race to clinch the crown, as well as a fifth Cup, and is now preparing to take the team into the Champions League for the fourth time next season. Not just the team's coach, Keefe has now built his life in Northern Ireland having married wife Colleen, with the couple welcoming their first daughter Cora in 2021, with Tara following in 2023.
