That's despite the UFC brass' willingness to break their pay structure and meet Jones' demands to be paid "F**K YOU MONEY" for the bout.
Former pound-for-pound king Jones has infuriated MMA fans over the last few weeks with his umming and ahhing over the prospect of retirement.
And he left fight fans on tenterhooks again this week during a rare sit-down interview.
During an interview on Deepcut with VicBlends, he said: "I don't know what life holds as far as fighting and competing.

"I do feel like I'll be a lifelong martial artist whether I'm coaching others or taking exhibition matches and things like that.
"There's a lot of great competition still in the UFC. I do view myself as more than a fighter.
"Being in my position, I feel like I have a lot more options than a lot of the other fighters as far as the ability to leave and return.
"And so right now I'm just focusing on love, happiness, kindness.

"We're at the quarter-century mark, and this year should be a really special year."
Jones' comments immediately drew the ire of UFC fans around the world, who took to social media to vent their frustrations.
Jon Jones Blasts UFC Rival Tom Aspinall In X-Rated Rant
One said: "Strip him already, make [Ciryl] Gane vs Aspinall in the UK.
"We've had enough of this. Enjoy your retirement [and] if you want to come back, you'll have to fight Aspinall anyway."
Another said: "He took 3 years off to 'prepare for Heavyweight'. How much time does he need? STRIP HIM!"
And another said: "Strip him of the belt and let him come back and fight for it when he's ready."
One remarked: "If he doesn't know, then I'd say he's done. Shame Dana can't compute that."
Another chimed in: "UFC is a total joke for not stripping him and giving Aspinall another fight to defend his title.
"If Jones [has] quit and let the UFC know about it, then the UFC has to move on.
"I don't know what life holds as far as fighting and competing."
Jon Jones on his fighting future
"If Jones wants to fight and is just delaying, the UFC needs to give him a date and tell him to f**k off if he says no.
"This entire situation is causing irreparable damage to the UFC brand because people are getting turned off by the constant lies."
Jones has been accused of ducking Wigan warrior Aspinall since his maiden defence of the heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 last November.
Fans' patience with the Hall of Famer has worn extremely thin, although he insists he's not leading them on.
He recently wrote on X: "Y'all barkin' up the wrong tree. I told the UFC my plans a long time ago.
"I have no clue why they haven't shared them with you guys yet."
Jones' insistence that White and Co. know his plans came just DAYS after the UFC bigwig GUARANTEED he'd return to the octagon this year.
He told Adam Glyn: "Jon Jones will be fighting in 2025. 100 per cent."

See inside the 2025 Scotland's Home of the Year finalists

Giffnock, Aberdeenshire, Edinburgh, Broughty Ferry, Isle of Skye and Dalbeattie all feature in the series finale of BBC Scotland's series on Monday, June 2. After visiting 18 contenders in the West, the North East & Northern Isles, East, Central & Tayside, Highlands & Islands and the South, judges – interior designers Anna Campbell-Jones and Banjo Beale along with architect Danny Campbell – will now choose which of the six homes will win. The finale is filmed at Glasgow's House for an Art Lover - designed by the architect Charles Rennie MacIntosh. This year's SHOTY search showcased a variety of styles from period properties to modern new-builds, cosy cottages to bespoke flats, farm steadings to contemporary abodes. This year's finalists are: Sandstone Bungalow, Giffnock Home to Pamela and Gordon, their son Caleb and Rosa the Irish Setter, the Sandstone Bungalow blends together old with new, whilst retaining the original 1930s details. The couple design choices bring the Sandstone Bungalow up-to-date with a bright and modern kitchen, dining and living spaces. Hilltop House, Aberdeenshire Situated on the outskirts of Pitmedden in Aberdeenshire, Hilltop House is home to Chris, Jessica, their son Chase and dogs Enzo and Dino. The couple designed their bright, contemporary house around the original footprint of the farm steading, fusing mid-century and Californian style to create their dream home. Wee City Nook, Edinburgh A first-floor traditional tenement in Edinburgh's Stockbridge area, Wee City Nook is home to Devin and Max. The couple combined their creative skills to design and rebuild each room in this small-but-perfectly-formed home, creating storage solutions, maximising every nook and cranny. Together, they have created a bold, bright and colourful abode. The Tree House, Broughty Ferry A modernist 1960s property in Broughty Ferry, The Tree House is home to Jackie, Paul and their cats Mirren and Kaja. READ MORE: Jobs lost as luxury Highland spa goes bust amid 'mounting cost pressures' The couple fell in love with this neglected house which had laid empty for five years, breathing new life into it whilst preserving the original architect's vision. Amongst their changes, they reworked the upstairs space to create their bedroom of dreams overlooking the treetops. An Cala Cottage, Isle of Skye An Cala Cottage is home to Caroline, Lee and their dog, Nuala. This traditional cottage was brought back to life on a budget, with the couple incorporating charming charity shop finds with a creative use of colour throughout. They took inspiration for their interior design from the coastal and mountain views which surround, creating a cosy and relaxing home. Craigmount, near Dalbeattie A Victorian semi-detached house near Dalbeattie, home to Ozzy, Laura, daughter Grace and Ethel the pug. The property's coastal views won the family over and they made it their own by renovating and adding an extension to the original granite building. The family entered Craigmount as Grace's late gran loved SHOTY. Interior designer Anna Campbell-Jones said: 'As always, we have a set of finalists that are each uniquely different from each other, from restored modernist dreams to handcrafted miniature perfection there's inspiration for everyone. When we film the final we are never sure who the winner will be - it could genuinely be any of these amazing homes. "Through debate, much discussion and not a little heartbreak, we gradually whittle them down to one that we all agree has that magical edge - the home that best exemplifies what home means.' Isle of Mull-based Interior Designer Banjo Beale praised the 2025 finalists: 'Each home's bursting with personality - bold, beautiful, and a real labour of love. The finale of SHOTY is the big emotional payoff - surprises, stories, and a stunning winner that'll take your breath away.' Architect Danny Campbell adds: 'This year's finalists are an eclectic celebration of design adventures — bold, heartfelt, and unapologetically individual. Each home tells a story of its owner's passions, priorities and aesthetic DNA, from slick architectural statements to soulful reimagining of traditional spaces. "The finale is always a head-spin - equal parts tension and celebration. Viewers can expect impassioned debates, inspiring interior insights and that brilliant moment where we finally agree on a winner!' The finale will be aired at 8.30pm.

But one home cook left people scratching their heads after they revealed their attempt at a particular classic dish. 4 home-cook-slammed-sharing-attempt-999490755 Credit: Not known, clear with picture desk 4 home-cook-slammed-sharing-attempt-999490671 Credit: Not known, clear with picture desk 4 The foodie showed off their attempt at making lasagne on Facebook Credit: Getty Despite their best efforts, the food turned out nothing like you would expect, and some people even questioned what they meal was supposed to be in the first place. This came after the wannabe chef took to Facebook to show off their concoction with a picture from before it went into the over and after. "How do you make lasagne, mine came out crispy as hell and I want it soft, please help," the Facebook user wrote alongside the pictures. The first snap shows a dish layered with dry spaghetti, strips of uncooked bacon and slices of American cheese. Unsurprisingly, the meal only looked worse after some time in the oven. Instead of melting, the cheese shrivelled up and burned, and the dry spaghetti didn't look any more enticing either. After sharing the snaps in the popular Facebook group people were so shocked by the food creation they thought the foodie must've been joking. "This has got to be satire," one person commented on the viral post. But others weren't so sure, as a second said: "What in the name of god did you think you were making!?!" And a third chimed in: "I have never seen anything like this, where is the sauce?" The Sun tries Wetherspoons' new menu "I want to laugh but I genuinely don't even know what to think here," another wrote. Meanwhile, others offered some cooking suggestions for their next attempt. "You should start by reading an actual recipe, this is a crime," one said. And another commented: "I dread to think how many Italians you killed making this. Even if it is a joke this post should come with a trigger warning." And someone else quipped: "Who raised you?!" This isn't the first time food fans have been left stunned by a meal. Mum and TikToker Michelle previously caused viewers to lose their appetites as she proudly showed the breakfast she fed her family. The now-viral video, which has racked up a staggering 2.2million views in just two days, sees the parent make scrambled eggs - but with a twist. The nation's most peculiar food combinations revealed Brits reveal unusual food combinations that are so wrong, they feel right Research by LNER claims that a whopping four in five Brits experiment with unusual flavours, and almost a quarter have a 'guilty pleasure' when it comes to unconventional food combinations, Crisps and chocolate Cheese and chocolate Crisps in jam sandwich Chips and milkshake Cheese and bananas Apples with salt and pepper Avocado and chocolate Popcorn and hot sauce Tuna and marmite Gherkins and peanut butter Rather than using actual eggs, the mum whipped up the first meal of the day with a ''scrambled egg mix'' - which was essentially just a powder. To add some extra boost of protein, Michelle also threw in a generous amount of bacon - that had been freeze dried. The gut-churning concoction called for half a cup of the scrambled egg mix which she dissolved with warm water, as well as the bacon bits - which needed to be re-hydrated with cold water. For extra flavour and texture the mum also chucked in some freeze fried cheddar cheese that had to go in the water before as well. Once the egg mixture was ready, Michelle cooked it on the pan, before squeezing the water out of the shredded cheese and throwing a spoonful of the watery bacon. Showing off the final result on her page, the mum tried to convince the viewers it was ''good'' - and the rest of the brood agreed, with the dad dubbing the dish ''yummy''.
