Juventus had a good day on the pitch on Wednesday in the US, beating Al Ain 5-0 in their Club World Cup opener after an eventful trip to the White House, where they were confronted by President Donald Trump about women playing in their team.
Randal Kolo Muani and Francisco Conceicao both bagged braces as Juventus cruised to the top of Group G above Manchester City, who beat Wydad AC.
Trump confronts Juventus team about 'men playing in women's sports'
During their visit to the White House, some Juventus players and staff were asked by Trump, whom they presented with a club shirt, whether they thought a woman would be able to make their first team.
Trump appeared to be making a point against transgender athletes.

The Juventus players stayed silent but were far more comfortable speaking on the pitch as they dismantled UAE's Al Ain at Audi Field in front of 18,000 fans.
'You don't go to the White House every day, so it was a real pleasure to go there,' said Juventus coach Igor Tudor.
'(In the game) we did a number of excellent things, we played at a good tempo… all things considered it's a good start.'
Kolo Muani, who extended his loan from Paris Saint-Germain to play in the tournament in the United States, opened the scoring after 11 minutes with a header from Alberto Costa's cross.
Juventus doubled their lead 10 minutes later when Conceicao, on loan from Porto, skipped away from one defender in the box before firing home with the help of a deflection.
Turkish forward Kenan Yildiz netted the third after 31 minutes, carving out some space on the edge of the box and drilling in at the near post.

French striker Kolo Muani grabbed his second with a deft finish in first-half stoppage time to pile on the misery for Al Ain.
Kouame Autonne had a goal disallowed for offside for the UAE side before Conceicao struck again, benefitting from another slight deflection.
Kolo Muani might have completed his hat-trick when sent through but goalkeeper Rui Patricio shut him down well, and Douglas Luiz blasted narrowly off-target late on.
Kolo Muani: 'Juventus had a great game'
Juventus, who finished fourth in Serie A, are hoping to make up for a trophyless season with success in the United States this summer.
'The team had a great game, we're happy, we'll get ready for the next game,' said Kolo Muani.
'I just want to play well for my team-mates, for the club, and we'll see (how many I can) score.'
It is unlikely to get any easier for Al Ain as they next face Pep Guardiola's Manchester City in Atlanta.
'We respected (Juventus) more than we needed to at the beginning and this was something that let them score two or three goals easily,' said Al Ain's Serbian coach Vladimir Ivic.

Trump ready to attack Iran? Plan approved, officials preparing for military strike soon, says report

Amid the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict, reports are emerging that US officials are planning an imminent strike on Iran as US President Donald Trump weighs options to tackle Tehran read more As US President Donald Trump mulled plans to attack Iran amid a crisis in West Asia, reports are emerging that senior US officials are preparing for the possibility of a strike on Iran in the coming days. On Thursday, The Wall Street Journal published an exclusive which revealed that US President Donald Trump approved attack plans on Iran. The officials close to the matter told the American news outlet that while Trump has approved the place, he is holding off on final orders to see if Tehran will abandon its nuclear program, three people familiar with the deliberations said. Now, in a separate report by Bloomberg, it is emerging that US officials are preparing for the possibility of Trump delivering the final order on the attack. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD People familiar with the matter told Bloomberg that the situation is evolving and things could change in the coming days. Some of the sources also alluded to potential plans for a weekend strike on Iran. The source even mentioned that the top leaders at a handful of federal agencies have also commenced getting ready for the attack. It is interesting to note that the reports surrounding an imminent Iranian strike came just hours after Trump said, 'I may do it. I may not do it,' when asked if he was moving closer to attacking Iran. The choice between a fight and a deal The stakes are high for Trump — and the world — as he engages in a push-pull debate between his goals of avoiding dragging the US into another war and preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. 'I'm not looking to fight,' Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. 'But if it's a choice between fighting and having a nuclear weapon, you have to do what you have to do.' The Trump administration now has two options in hand: either to sign a nuclear deal with Iran or to join hands with Israel in striking Iran, which might contribute to the wider tensions in the Middle East. Trump also offered a terse response to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's refusal to heed his call for Iran to submit to an unconditional surrender. 'I say good luck,' Trump said. Trump's remarks came after Khamenei, in his first televised address after the conflict, warned that US strikes targeting the Islamic Republic would 'result in irreparable damage for them' and that his country would not bow to Trump's call for surrender. Sensex, Nifty 50 close flat, mid & small-cap stocks bleed amid hawkish Fed, rising geopolitical tensions

Stock market today: Indian stock market witnessed another lackluster performance during Thursday's trading session, June 19, as weak global cues and a lack of fresh domestic triggers kept investors away from risky assets, leaving the frontline indices largely unchanged. While blue-chip stocks saw little movement, mid- and small-cap stocks faced heavy selling pressure throughout the day, as their expensive valuations raised investor concerns amid ongoing market challenges. The Nifty 50 shed 19 points, or 0.08%, to close at 24,793 while the Sensex ended 83 points lower, or 0.10%, at 81,361. The Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Small Cap each lost nearly 2% in trade. As widely expected, the US Federal Reserve kept its policy rate unchanged for the fourth consecutive time but warned that Donald Trump's trade policies could drive up prices. Policymakers revised their Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) inflation forecast for 2025 to 3.0%, up from the earlier projection of 2.7%, and consequently lowered the GDP growth forecast for 2025 to 1.4% from 1.7%. Policymakers expressed concerns that Trump's policies are already starting to impact the economy. Their remarks aligned with recent warnings from the IMF and the World Bank. The Fed also signaled a slower pace of rate cuts, now projecting only two reductions by the end of the year. On the geopolitical front, tensions between Iran and Israel have entered their seventh day, with no signs of de-escalation. In a fresh barrage of attacks, Iran launched 25 missiles in a fresh attack on Israel, with missiles reportedly taking down the Israeli stock exchange building. On Wednesday, Donald Trump confirmed he was considering a military strike on Iran's nuclear facilities, although he stated that no final decision had been made. In response, Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, warned the US of 'irreparable damage' if it proceeds with military action—indicating that the ongoing Middle East conflict may persist in the coming days. On the domestic front, the Indian economy showed early signs of slowing income growth. Advance tax collections by the Centre rose by only 4% year-on-year to ₹ 1.54 trillion as of June 15 in FY26. This is a sharp drop from the 27% growth recorded during the same period last year, primarily due to lower personal income tax payments. Public sector banks—particularly mid- and small-cap counters—saw a sharp sell-off in today's trading session, resulting in a 2% drop in the Nifty PSU Bank index, making it the worst-performing sector of the day. Media stocks, which had remained resilient in recent sessions, also came under pressure, with the Nifty Media index falling 1.78%. The decline in real estate stocks continued, sending the Nifty Realty index down 1.55%, while metal stocks also remained weak, pushing the Nifty Metal index lower by 1.21%. Hawkish commentary from the US Federal Reserve weighed on IT stocks as well, with the Nifty IT index losing 0.96%. On the positive side, Nifty Auto was the only sectoral gainer, managing to defy the broader trend and ending the session with a gain of 0.50%.
