Williamson County authorities arrest suspected carjackers following pursuit

Yahoo22-02-2025

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Law enforcement from Williamson County and Spring Hill teamed up earlier this week to chase after multiple suspects with drugs and weapons.
It went down during the early morning hours on Monday, Feb. 17. Members of the Williamson County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) stopped a stolen vehicle on Interstate 65 South.
When deputies approached the three occupants inside the vehicle, the driver — described as a minor — reportedly took off, so authorities gave chase.
At one point, the sheriff's office successfully spiked multiple tires. Dash camera footage of the pursuit shows a left front tire coming off the 2006 Toyota Camry.

The vehicle headed into Spring Hill on Buckner Road. Dash camera video shows the car driving slowly but sliding across the asphalt since it was traveling on its rims.
At one point, the suspect vehicle sideswiped a Spring Hill Police Department (SHPD) patrol car, but the damage was minor and nobody was injured.
Moments later, two of the suspects bailed in different directions. Meanwhile, the person behind the wheel proceeded to drive off before crashing and running away.
Moments were tense as authorities chased after the suspects.
Body camera footage shows a member of the SHPD holding one suspect at gunpoint and yelling, 'Show me your hands! Do it now!'
Meanwhile, the sheriff's office caught 21-year-old Carlos Alberto Diaz-Chavez from Honduras. According to officials, he was charged with evading arrest, manufacture/delivery/sale of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, and being armed during a dangerous felony. His bond was set at $52,000, but Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has reportedly placed a hold on him.
Inside the car, deputies found 15 grams of meth and multiple weapons, including an AR-15 with a 60-round magazine, as well as a handgun that was reported stolen from a Goodlettsville gun store during a smash-and-grab burglary in December.
At the time of the theft, the gun shop owner told News 2 the suspects were in and out in 30 seconds, acting in a very precise manner.

After finding the juvenile driver hiding near a storm grate, Spring Hill officers asked if he had a gun, but he replied, 'No gun; didn't have gun.'
'Some of the guns that they had were reported stolen, the vehicle may be stolen, so that's concerning,' SHPD Lt. Mike Foster told News 2. 'Whereas they weren't necessarily intending to come to Spring Hill, we still ended up here, so we're getting a lot of bleed over from Nashville; it's coming this way.'
In summary, three suspects ran from the vehicle, two were apprehended, and one is still at large, according to the sheriff's office.
'This incident highlights the strength of our partnerships within the Williamson County law enforcement community, showcasing effective collaboration and shared commitment to maintaining public safety,' said WCSO Capt. Becky Coyle.

The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) told News 2 the Toyota used in the chase was taken during a carjacking in the 200 block of Paragon Mills Road on Feb. 7.
According to authorities, the owner said he was sitting in the parking lot when four males pulled up in a black car, got out of their vehicle, ordered him out of the Toyota at gunpoint, forced him onto the ground, and instructed him in Spanish to give them his belongings. After he did so, the four individuals allegedly got into the Toyota and drove out of the apartment complex.
The MNPD said it had been looking for the car, but apparently the license plate had been replaced with a temporary tag when it crashed in Williamson County. Police are reportedly investigating the suspects for other violent crime in Nashville.
No additional details have been released about Monday morning's pursuit.

Charges filed in drive-by shooting outside Burnsville High School graduation

Charges were filed Monday after gunshots were fired outside the Burnsville High School graduation on Friday night. No one was injured. The Dakota County Attorney's Office said in criminal complaints: Officers were working security and crowd control outside the high school. They were aware that two groups of people 'were arguing and flashing gang signs towards each other as officers were attempting to disperse the groups. Officers also broke up several physical altercations between the groups that evening.' At about 8:30 p.m., officers heard gunshots coming from the west side of the school. Bystanders directed them to a Toyota Camry, and officers detained the driver and front-seat passenger. The driver was identified as Abdikani Mukhtar Abdiwahab, 18, of Bloomington, and the passenger as Abdulahi Jama Ali, 18, of Shakopee. A bystander was heard saying, 'Ksoe, you missed. You dumb (expletive).' Officers learned Ali's nickname is 'Ksoe.' The bystander was wearing a leopard print or camo jacket. Witnesses reported the Camry's driver was driving recklessly and almost hit another vehicle. They saw a person in a leopard print jacket approach the Camry's passenger side, talk with the occupants and try to punch the Camry with his fist. A barrel of a gun then came out the front passenger window and someone opened fire. Officers found a handgun with an extended magazine under the front passenger seat and a bullet casing on the driver's side floorboard. They also found two bullet casings on the street and a parked vehicle with a bullet fragment in the driver's side headlight. Abdiwahab later told officers he hadn't fired a gun and said his DNA wouldn't be found on the gun taken from the Camry. DNA swabs were taken from the handgun and from Ali, after police obtained a search warrant, and are pending analysis at the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Abdiwahab is charged with two counts each of aiding and abetting a drive-by shooting and aiding an offender. Ali is charged with second-degree assault and two counts of drive-by shooting. Both are jailed. The county attorney's office is seeking $200,00 bail or $100,000 with conditions for Abdiwahab, saying that he fired at least three shots from a handgun toward another person and an unoccupied vehicle after the graduation ceremony 'when all attendees were attempting to leave the area,' which was 'a great risk to public safety,' according to a memo about bail. Ali 'continued to drive from the scene and provided false and misleading information to law enforcement to prevent them from identifying' Abdiwahab as the shooter, said another memo about bail. The prosecution is requesting $160,000 bail or $80,000 with conditions. Two other people were arrested in the incident. It wasn't immediately clear if they would be charged Monday. The Friday before Burnsville's graduation, two people were injured in a shooting outside Mariucci Arena at the University of Minnesota after the Wayzata High School graduation ceremony. 2 young men charged for bringing fully loaded weapons to Pontiac high school graduation

Police charged two young men accused of bringing an AR-style pistol and a Glock semi-automatic handgun — both unregistered and fully loaded with 40-round magazines — to a high school graduation in Pontiac, Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald's office announced on June 9. Jamarion Hardiman, 20, and Deahveon Whaley, 19, are each charged with carrying a firearm with unlawful intent, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and carrying a concealed weapon, McDonald's office said in a news release. More: Authorities find loaded weapons at Pontiac high school's graduation Neither suspect was a graduating student but had ongoing disputes with others in the community, authorities have said. The pair went to the graduation together on June 3 at the United Wholesale Mortgage campus, where they allegedly got into a brawl with others but did not fire any rounds. Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard previously said it's likely deputies "prevented a mass shooting." "Just those two weapons without changing magazines had 80 rounds of potential firepower shooting into a graduation," Bouchard said. "You can only imagine the outcome of that." Police were initially called in on reports of the brawl. Surveillance video shows Hardiman assaulting someone inside the sports complex, and then, sometime after, Hardiman, Whaley, and others involved in the fight leaving the building, according to McDonald's office. The brawl continued in the parking lot, where Hardiman was struck by a car, "apparently without injury," the news release details. Hardiman and Whaley then went to their car to get the guns — for Whaley, a firearm to carry in his waistband, and for Hardiman, a "distinctive backpack" that held the AR-style pistol, prosecutors allege in the news release. Authorities say the pair abandoned the weapons under parked vehicles. When they exited the car, the pair is seen in surveillance footage crouching behind and between cars in the parking lot, McDonald's office said. Deputies were informed at the time of a possible shooting threat made on Snapchat. McDonald's office said on June 9 that those threats have not been verified. Odessa man arrested after road rage incident

ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- An Odessa man was arrested earlier this week after investigators said he allegedly pointed a gun at a mother and her two young children during a road rage incident. Dominic Ashton Chavez has been charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. According to an Odessa Police Department report, on June 3, officers were called to the area of 42nd Street and Grandview after a woman called 911 and said the driver of an orange vehicle had pointed two handguns at her as they were driving southbound on Grandview. In the 1000 block of N Grandview, investigators found an orange Dodge Charger fitting the description and initiated a high-risk traffic stop. During questioning, investigators said the driver, identified as Chavez, reportedly admitted that he was armed with two handguns and that he'd pointed his guns at a woman in another vehicle after she revved her engine. Chavez said a verbal disturbance took place during the incident as well. Chavez was arrested and booked into the Ector County Law Enforcement Center without incident. He's since been released from custody on a combined $150,000 bond. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
