
Large woodland fire brought under control on Dorset-Hampshire border
Fire crews have been working through the night to bring a woodland fire under control on the Dorset-Hampshire border.
Firefighters from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service and Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue were called out to an area of heath, gorse and woodland at Bransgore at around 7.30pm on Saturday.
Residents were advised to close doors and windows due to smoke, and asked to avoid the area around Burley Road.
Hampshire fire service said water carriers and Land Rovers were used to surround and stop the blaze.
The incident was scaled down overnight but a few fire service vehicles remain on the scene this morning with relief crews working to extinguish hotspots.

Poole man missing after boat runs aground in Dorset
Searches are under way to find a man who went missing after he entered the water to free a was last seen on the coastline near Napier Road in Poole at about 23:00 BST on Police said the 50-year-old, from the local area, had been on a cabin cruiser when it ran aground and he got out to try and free said he had been wearing a green fleece material tracksuit with a hood and Nike Air Max trainers. Insp Robin Morgan, of Dorset Police, said: "We have been carrying out searches of the immediate area alongside the HM Coastguard helicopter and lifeboats to try and find him and would ask anyone who may have seen him or have information that may assist to get in touch."Police have been asked whether the boat was recovered and if Jason's surname was known. Fire at block of Andover flats forces residents from homes
People living in a block of flats were forced to leave after a fire spread through three floors and the were called to the building in Charlton Road, Andover, on Sunday at about 16:00 from Hampshire and Dorset tackled the fire through the night, with 13 fire engines, two aerial ladder platforms and two water carriers living nearby were advised to close their doors and windows due to the smoke. Wildfire warning issued after blaze on Eversley Common
Firefighters have warned of the risk of wildfires in warm and dry weather after a blaze in north Fire and Rescue Service were called to Eversley Common, near Basingstoke, at around 16:00 BST on used beaters and hose reels to tackle the fire, which covered about five hectares of woodland and took more than five hours, two fire engines, multiple 4×4 vehicles, water carriers and support from forces in Surrey and Berkshire to extinguish the blaze. The cause of the fire was unknown but crews from Hampshire were due to return to the site on Sunday to check for hotspots, said the fire service.
