Egypt Rejects Proposal to Relocate Palestinians to Sinai

Egypt has made a firm declaration that it will not be part of any solution involving the relocation of Palestinian refugees to Sinai, according to Egypt's Ambassador to the United States.
This statement was issued in response to mounting international calls for Egypt to open its borders to Palestinians fleeing the violence.
Motaz Zahran, Egypt's Ambassador to the United States, said his country's position is clear, such a move would trigger a second Nakba, an irreversible tragedy for the Palestinian people who share an unbreakable bond with their ancestral homeland.
He emphasized Egypt's role in humanitarian efforts and its commitment to protecting Palestinian rights.
Zahran clarified that Egypt had kept the Rafah Crossing open for humanitarian aid and third-country nationals, despite temporary setbacks caused by Israeli airstrikes.
However, he made it unequivocally clear that Egypt will not participate in any proposals that would result in the mass displacement of Palestinians into Sinai, stressing the moral and historical significance of the Palestinian connection to their land.
In his statement, Zahran noted that Egypt is actively engaged in diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the conflict and prioritize the safety of civilians.
Egypt has been working closely with international partners, including the United Nations, to establish safe humanitarian zones within Gaza and ensure the delivery of essential aid to those affected by the violence.
The country has also called for an immediate ceasefire, highlighting the importance of protecting civilians and addressing the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Egypt remains committed to the two-state solution and rejects any measures that would further displace Palestinians or undermine their right to self-determination.
