Karen Weekly recaps Tennessee's loss to Oklahoma softball in College World Series
No. 2 national seed Oklahoma (51-7) defeated No. 7 national seed Tennessee (45-16), 4-3, Thursday in the Women's College World Series at Devon Park in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
The Sooners won the contest with a walk-off three-run home run by Ella Parker with two outs in the seventh inning.
Tennessee head coach Karen Weekly discussed the Lady Vols' loss after the game.
"Obviously, that was a gut-punch," Weekly said. "I thought our team played really, really well. Proud of how we came out. We don't have time to feel sorry for ourselves. We got to be ready to play tomorrow, and that's what we just talked about in the locker room."

The Lady Vols will play in an elimination game Friday against Florida. First pitch between Tennessee and the Gators is scheduled for 7 p.m. EDT and ESPN will televise the matchup.
If Tennessee defeats Florida, the Lady Vols will play Sunday at 3 p.m. EDT (ABC).

US concedes 4 first-half goals, falls to Switzerland 4-0 for first 4-game losing streak since 2007

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The United States gave up four goals in the first half and looked unprepared for next year's World Cup, getting routed by Switzerland 4-0 in a friendly on Tuesday night as the Americans lost their fourth straight game for the first time since 2007. Dan Ndoye scored in the 13th minute, Michel Aebischer in the 23rd, Breel Embolo in the 33rd and Johan Manzambi in the 36th. The Americans have lost four consecutive home games for the third time and first since 1988. Switzerland won its third straight match and extended the U.S. winless streak against European opponents to eight games since 2021. Fans at Geodis Park booed loudly as the U.S. gave up four goals by the 40th minute for the first time since Nov. 9, 1980, at Mexico and the first time ever at home, according to Opta. The match was played one year and one day before the 2026 World Cup co-hosted by the U.S. starts. Going into their CONCACAF Gold Cup opener against Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday, the Americans are 5-5 under Mauricio Pochettino, who took over after first-round elimination last year's Copa America led the U.S. Soccer Federation to fire coach Gregg Berhalter. Ndoye burst behind Nate Harriel to run onto a through pass for the first goal; Manzambi dribbled past Max Arfsten along the endline to leave Aebischer with a tap-in for the second; goalkeeper Matt Turner spilled Ricardo Rodriguez's shot to leave Embolo an open net for the third; and a mix-up when Quinn Sullivan passed to Sebastian Berhalter as the former coach's son slipped created a giveaway that led to Manzambi's first international goal. The U.S. had not lost four straight games since a five-game skid in 2007. The Americans were missing Christian Pulisic (wanted time off); Yunus Musah (personal reason not disclosed); Weston McKennie, Tim Weah, Gio Reyna (headed to the Club World Cup); Antonee Robinson, Tyler Adams and Folarin Balogun (injured); and Sergiño Dest (regaining fitness). Turner played his first game for club or country since March 23. Berhalter started in his debut, and Brenden and Paxten Aaronson became the fourth set of brothers to start for the U.S., and the first since George and Louis Nanchoff in 1979. Pochettino made nine changes from Saturday's 2-1 loss to Turkey, keeping only Arfsten and midfielder Johnny Cardoso. The U.S. made five changes to start the second half and Damian Downs made his debut in the 75th minute. ___ AP soccer:

NBA Trade Idea Sends Grizzlies' Ja Morant to Heat in Exchange for Four Players

NBA Trade Idea Sends Grizzlies' Ja Morant to Heat in Exchange for Four Players originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Memphis Grizzlies and Miami Heat got swept in the first round of the 2025 NBA playoffs. Advertisement The Oklahoma City Thunder swept the Grizzlies, while the Cleveland Cavaliers swept the Heat. Memphis drafted Ja Morant with the second overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. Morant won the 2019-20 Rookie of the Year Award and the 2021-22 Most Improved Player of the Year Award. He has also made two All-Star teams and one All-NBA team. However, the Grizzlies have won only one postseason series in the Morant era. Some believe Morant, who has been suspended twice by the NBA for showing a gun on IG Live, needs a change of scenery and one NBA analyst proposed that the Heat trade for the All-Star point guard. This NBA trade idea sends Ja Morant from Memphis to Miami. Petre Thomas-Imagn Images Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report proposed that the Heat trade Andrew Wiggins, Nikola Jovic, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Pelle Larsson, a 2029 first-round pick and a 2031 first-round pick swap to the Grizzlies for Morant this offseason. Advertisement "This is a lot to give up for a diminutive guard who's struggled to stay on the floor throughout his career, but Morant also has superstar upside," Bailey wrote. "And this season made it clear that a top duo of Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro isn't good enough for meaningful title contention. "Sliding those two back into more appropriate roles as second and third options would help them. And as two members of a big three, they can offer plenty of support to Ja." Morant will make $39.4 million next season. He signed a five-year, $197 million extension with the Grizzlies in 2022. The 25-year-old Morant appeared in 50 games for Memphis this season. He averaged 23.2 points and 7.3 assists while shooting 45.4% from the field, 30.9% from 3 and 82.4% from the foul line. Advertisement Morant has played in 307 NBA games with the Grizzlies. He has career averages of 22.6 points and 7.4 assists. Jimmy Butler requested a trade from the Heat this season and was traded to the Golden State Warriors. After getting swept by the Cavaliers, it's evident Miami needs more talent.
