Trump: Gavin Newsom should be arrested over LA riots
California Governor Gavin Newsom should be arrested over the violence engulfing LA, Donald Trump has declared.
On Sunday, Tom Homan, the president's border tsar, suggested Mr Newsom was at risk of being arrested if he thwarts ICE officers attempting to arrest illegal migrants in the state.
'I would do it if I were Tom,' Mr Trump said on Monday.
Speaking about Mr Newsom, he continued: 'He's a nice guy, but he's grossly incompetent. Everybody knows.'
'The people that are causing the problem are professional agitators, they're insurrectionists. They're bad people, they should be in jail,' Mr Trump went on to state
Mr Newsom has dared Mr Homan to make good on his threat telling MSNBC: 'Come and arrest me. Let's just get it over with, tough guy. I don't give a damn.'
'He's a tough guy. Why doesn't he do that? He knows where to find me,' Mr Newsom added.
Masked protesters in Los Angeles smashed and torched self-driving electric cars during a third day of volatile demonstrations on Sunday sparked by immigration raids in the city.
The violence may spill over into a fourth day. The Service Employees International Union, which has around two million members, has organised a rally for Monday afternoon after the arraignment of its Californian president, David Huerta, who was arrested on Friday while protesting.
Mr Newsom said he planned to sue the Trump administration over the deployment of 2,000 national guard troops which he called 'an illegal act, an immoral act, an unconstitutional act'.
Demonstrators protesting against federal immigration raids continued to clash with police who fired rubber bullets and tear gas while being hurled with bricks and stones.
Several journalists were injured during the crackdown, including an Australian presenter who was shot in the leg while reporting from downtown.
Ms Bass appeared at odds with the LAPD chief, who said the force was under-resourced and overwhelmed.
'He has received that support from the sheriff's department and from other police departments, and so I do not believe that he was describing a situation where we cannot get it under control here,' she told CNN.
Mr Newsom's confrontation with the president is the latest in a string of disagreements he has shared with Mr Trump, who has nicknamed the governor 'Newscum'.
The pair clashed earlier this year when Mr Trump blamed Mr Newsom for the California wildfires that destroyed thousands of homes and called for his resignation.
Juan Ramón de la Fuente, the Mexican foreign affairs minister, said 42 Mexicans had been detained in the riots, four of which were already returned to Mexico.
'We do not agree with violent actions as a form of protest,' Claudia Sheinbaum, the Mexican president, said.
'Burning police cars appears to be more an act of provocation than of resistance. We condemn violence, no matter where it comes from. We call on the Mexican community to act pacifically and not allow itself to be provoked.'
At least 56 people were arrested over the weekend including a person accused of throwing a Molotov cocktail at an officer.
Police declared all of downtown LA to be an unlawful assembly area on Sunday as officers geared up for another day of protests.

BREAKING NEWS Top trump ally announces shock retirement from Congress after alleged affair ended his 36-year marriage
The powerful House Homeland Security chairman will soon retire from Congress before his term officially ends, he has shared. Rep. Mark Green, R-Tenn., will depart from Congress as soon as this summer, he has told reporters. The shocking announcement comes a year after he previously announced his plans to retire but then reversed them after Donald Trump and others pressured him to stay on Capitol Hill. The Tennessee Republican, who led the charge to impeach former Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, announced he would retire in Spring 2024 before being cajoled to remain. Speaking to reporters, the 60-year-old Republican shared that he received a recent offer that he couldn't refuse. 'Recently, I was offered an opportunity in the private sector that was too exciting to pass up,' Green said, according to a Fox News report. 'I will resign from Congress as soon as the House votes once again on the reconciliation package.' Green sticking around until the reconciliation bill passes will be a major help for Speaker Mike Johnson, Trump and the GOP amid the party's minuscule majority. 'It is with a heavy heart that I announce my retirement from Congress,' he said in a statement released on Monday. 'Recently, I was offered an opportunity in the private sector that was too exciting to pass up.' 'As a result, today I notified the Speaker and the House of Representatives that I will resign from Congress as soon as the House votes once again on the reconciliation package.' Green called it 'an honor of a lifetime' to work in Congress, he also touted many of his achievements as committee chairman. He also addressed his previous retirement announcement and subsequent reversal. 'Though I planned to retire at the end of the previous Congress, I stayed to ensure that President Trump's border security measures and priorities make it through Congress,' he wrote. 'By overseeing the border security portion of the reconciliation package, I have done that. After that, I will retire, and there will be a special election to replace me.' The announcement also comes after Green was publicly embroiled in an affair and roasted by his former wife online. Camie Green, who was married the chairman, accused him of having a relationship with a younger women before their split in September 2024. In a statement on the salacious claims, the congressman said at the time: 'This is a difficult time for my family and me, and we are currently going through divorce proceedings.' 'As this is a deeply private matter, I ask for privacy. I will continue to serve this district with all I've got, as I have the last five and a half years,' his statement from the time added. His former wife was accused of sending messages to those around Capitol Hill warning that the devil had manipulated her husband. 'Satan has rewritten our marriage in his mind,' she wrote. 'I am being quite open about this as 1) I cherish the prayer of any who are willing and 2) I want to make others aware of how readily available "predators" are for our husbands.' In the messages she said she'd tried to reconcile their marriage, but the Congressman wanted nothing to do with it.

'Public are sick to death of the migrant free-for-all', says Top Tory as he hails Mail's cash-for-visas investigation
The public are 'sick to death' of the immigration 'free-for-all', Robert Jenrick warned yesterday after the Mail revealed how crooked legal advisers run cash-for-visas scams. The Tory justice spokesman hailed our 'crucial' undercover investigation which exposed how companies are charging up to £22,000 per person to provide 'skilled' jobs in the UK for underqualified foreign workers. The Mail probe discovered a range of brazen tricks being used to dupe the Home Office into providing sponsorship licences which enable convenience stores, barbers, warehouses and bars across the country to bring in overseas labour on false pretences. It is so lucrative that many firms have been started up just to profit from hiring foreign staff and then exploit them for cheap labour. Immigration advisers working as fixers for the firms coach immigrants on how to lie to officials, overstating their levels of education and experience to secure the visa. Mr Jenrick said: 'This crucial Daily Mail investigation shows our immigration system is a free-for-all. 'Scammers are lining their pockets while the public have yet more low-skilled migration forced upon them. 'It's gone on for decades and the public are sick to death of it.' Border security minister Dame Angela Eagle launched an urgent investigation into our probe. She also immediately suspended the sponsorship licence of Leicester-based immigration advice firm Flyover International after the Mail revealed its managing partner tricks the Home Office into believing employers need a certificate of sponsorship to take on overseas workers. Joe Estibeiro told our undercover reporter that he worked with businesses in Bradford, Leicester, Northampton and Peterborough, but takes payment for his services only via third-party bank accounts to avoid a paper trail linking the firm to his scam. He makes it appear that employers can't find any British residents to fill 'skilled' jobs by first advertising the positions in the UK and only recording interviews with the worst candidates to use as evidence if the Home Office investigates. The overseas workers he recruits officially earn around £3,000 a month to meet the Government's minimum salary requirements for skilled worker visas. But Estibeiro described how after the money is paid into their account they have to withdraw all but £900 and secretly hand it back to their boss. More than 131,000 businesses are on the Home Office's list for licensed sponsors for the permits. including market traders, dog groomers – listed as 'canine beauticians' – curtain fitters and even scores of kebab shops. Critics warned the open duplicity could sink Sir Keir Starmer's immigration crackdown which made new restrictions on skilled worker visas a major part of his aim to end the economy's addiction to cheap overseas labour. Flyover International is owned by another man who is understood to be taking the matter seriously and investigating, and says Estibeiro was not officially hired to work for the UK end of the business. Estibeiro denied involvement in any 'illegal or unethical' activity and said he was 'solely involved in student recruitment'. A Home Office source claimed that when Mr Jenrick was immigration minister, he failed to clamp down on the criminal gangs fuelling illegal immigration. The source added: 'If he needs reminding what the Labour Government has done to tackle this, we've introduced a new law to prevent suspected crooks like the one found by the brilliant journalism in the Daily Mail – so the Immigration Advice Authority will get new powers to immediately suspend registered advisers and organisations.'

EXCLUSIVE Trump targeted in deep state 'Pope plot'... as woke leakers seek to embarrass president on his birthday
Size matters to Donald Trump, especially when it comes to crowds. That's why Defense Department sources tell the Daily Mail that the White House wants more people watching the much-touted military parade in Washington, DC on the president's 79th birthday this Saturday, than celebrating new Pope Leo XIV's ascendancy to the papacy that same day in .
