Disturbing doorbell video shows "box demon" at Pennsylvania home
Disturbing Ring camera video from a central Pennsylvania home shows a mysterious stranger with a paper plate face appearing on the front porch and leaving something behind.
"I am the box demon, I leave this gift, this box, a gift for you," they say into the camera.
The "demon" is seen wearing a mask that appears to be made from a paper plate with eyes and a mouth drawn on it. Attached to the paper plate are multicolored petals like the petals of a flower.
They then left an empty box on the porch.
The video was taken around 4 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11 on East 10th Avenue in Northern York Borough, the Northern York County Regional Police Department said in a news release.
"The homeowner does not recognize the person. The homeowner does not know what the mask or the term 'Box Demon' was to represent," the release said.
No word on what, or who, the Box Demon is. Some social media commenters have speculated the "demon" looks like the character Dandy from the "Dandy's World" horror game on Roblox, an online platform where users can create, share and play other users' games.
Dandy also has a round face resembling a flower, with multicolored petals around the outside.

A New Jersey middle school teacher has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old boy he met playing the popular kids' video game, Roblox, authorities said. Juan Sanchez Moya, a teacher at West New York Middle School, was nabbed on a slew of sex crimes charges at his home in Union City on Tuesday, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office. The 26-year-old teacher allegedly started exchanging explicit photos with the teen after they met via the online gaming platform before he went on to assault the boy in his garage in April, a criminal complaint obtained by charged. Google Maps Moya also allegedly 'sexualized' the boy in an Aldi supermarket bathroom in North Bergen late last month, authorities said. Text messages show that Moya also tried to arrange to meet the teen again near a Crunch Fitness, according to the complaint. Cops started investigating after the teen's mom alerted them in late May. Moya has been charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and distributing obscene material to a minor. He is being held at the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court hearing. Weare man gets 135 years in prison for sex trafficking boy, 10
A Weare man has been sentenced to 135 years in prison for sexually abusing a 10-year-old Louisiana boy, swapping expensive gifts like a cellphone, gaming system and money for sex. On May 20, Louisiana Judge William H. Burris sentenced 28-year-old Benjamin Hart of Weare to 80 years in prison on a charge of sexual battery of a juvenile under the age of 13, 35 years in prison on a charge of trafficking of children for sexual purposes, and 20 years in prison on a charge of computer-aided solicitation of a juvenile under the age of 13. Burris ordered the three sentences to run consecutive to each other, meaning Hart will be serving a 135-year prison term. Burris also sentenced Hart to six months in jail for an outburst in the courtroom during which Hart threatened a prosecutor and swore at the judge, District Attorney Collin Sims in Louisiana's Washington Parish said in a statement. Hart was convicted on the same charges in April, following a four-day trial. The jury returned its verdict after just 20 minutes of deliberation. Sims urged parents, educators, and community members to be aware of how predators target children through online gaming platforms including Xbox Live, Minecraft, Roblox, Grand Theft Auto and others. 'This case is a devastating reminder that human trafficking can start in the most seemingly innocent places — like a child's video game system,' Sims said in a statement. 'When a young child starts missing school or their grades suddenly drop, it should never be ignored. These may be red flags that something much more serious is happening behind the scenes.' Hart is also facing 14 pending similar but unrelated charges for six different victims in New Hampshire's Carroll County, including indecent exposure and prohibited computer service use. Officials in New Hampshire have been waiting for the case against Hart in Louisiana to play out before moving ahead with the local charges. According to Sims, Hart began communicating with a then-10-year-old boy over Xbox online back in 2020, before the conversations eventually moved to Snapchat, where Hart sent the boy an explicit image of himself. Officials say Hart eventually convinced the victim to meet in person, then began making regular trips from New Hampshire to Washington Parish, where he repeatedly sexually abused the victim, with much of the abuse occurring inside Hart's 18-wheeler truck. Prosecutors said between 2020 and 2022, Hart gave gifts such as a cellphone, a gaming system and money to the boy, using them to coerce further sexual acts from the child. Hart was captured in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in April 2024. He fought extradition, but was found competent by a New Mexico medical examiner and judge following a hearing in January 2024, and transported to a jail in Louisiana. pfeely@

Harrisburg Police officer on paid leave after being charged in domestic incident
YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A Harrisburg Police officer is on paid leave after being charged in a domestic incident Sunday at his York County home, charging documents show. Lee Brown, 39, of Mount Wolf, is accused of grabbing and yanking a woman off a couch and injuring her, while they were at home, along Market Street in East Manchester Township, charging documents filed by York County Regional Police Department state. Harrisburg Police confirmed that Brown is an officer with them and that he was placed on paid leave following the incident. Police said the victim was able to text someone, 'please help me, call the police,' after Brown allegedly grabbed her. The woman came running out of the house after police arrived just after 12:30 a.m. She was soaking wet, crying and reported that she didn't feel safe. Police said they took her to a community park nearby to talk about the alleged incident. Charging docs show the victim related how Brown allegedly told her that if police got involved, there would be a shootout. Brown and the woman were out drinking at a members-only bar. While on their way home, police said, they reportedly started to argue. Police said when they got home, the woman went to lie down on the couch, and that's when Brown allegedly squirted her with a water gun and poured water on her. When she tried to get him to stop, that is when he allegedly grabbed her and pulled her off the living room couch, police said. The victim had scrapes on her leg, ribs and shoulder. Police said in the charges, she reported getting those marks from a coffee table made out of a slab of a large tree that still has bark on the edges. State Trooper injured after fleeing driver 'intentionally rammed' cruiser during I-81 chase Brown said he was 'just messing' around with the victim when he was squirting her with the water gun, and allegedly denied getting physical, but claimed that he was struck in the mouth. The charges state Brown showed officers a video he took on his phone that showed the woman crying and trying to cover her face while he was allegedly antagonizing her. Brown then reportedly told police to arrest both of them 'because he knows how domestic violence incidents get handled,' charging docs show. Arrangements were made for the alleged victim to stay elsewhere, and while she was packing her bags, she found that her underwear was all cut up, and her Apple watch was shoved in the trash can. Brown allegedly denied any involvement in that. A report from WellSpan Health showed the woman sustained multiple abrasions and a contusion to her left rib from the incident, police said. Brown faces a misdemeanor charge of simple assault and summary charges of harassment and criminal mischief. Brown was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Thomas Reilly, who set unsecured bail at $15,000, which he posted. His preliminary hearing is set for July 30.
