5MW Standard Container Design: Trina Hydrogen's Innovative Hydrogen Equipment Supports Global Energy Transition
SHANGHAI, June 11, 2025 /CNW/ — On June 11, the 18th (2025) International Solar Photovoltaic and Smart Energy (Shanghai) Conference & Exhibition was held in Shanghai. During this event, Trina Green Hydrogen released three types of green hydrogen equipment to the global audience, showcasing the company's value-creation capabilities in the global hydrogen energy industry.
Trina Green Hydrogen's newly launched megawatt-scale PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) electrolyzer features a new generation of PEM membrane electrode materials, ensuring high-pressure safe operation of the electrolyzer. The hydrogen concentration in the oxygen stream remains below 600 ppm across the full power range. Under a rated current density of 30,000 A/㎡, the DC power consumption is less than 4.3 kWh/Nm³. The new catalyst technology reduces the use of precious metal iridium by 80%, with a theoretical catalyst lifespan of over 15 years and a voltage decay rate of just 1.3 μV/h. Cost analysis shows that the equipment cost can be reduced by 20%.
Trina Green Hydrogen's 2000 Nm³/h alkaline electrolyzer is based on the second-generation of the TQ (Tianqing) series, which offers high stability and efficiency. It adopts innovative electrode materials and an optimized electrolyzer structure. At a current density of 4000 A/㎡, the DC power consumption is less than 4.3 kWh/Nm³, reaching international Tier 1 energy efficiency standards.
Trina Green Hydrogen's megawatt-scale containerized hydrogen production system can produce up to 1000 Nm³/h of hydrogen per unit. Each unit integrates the electrolyzer, BOP (Balance of Plant) system, control cabinet, rectifier cabinet, water system, and other components within a standard container. The modular design allows for rapid assembly. Containers are connected via flexible hoses, breaking the dependence on pipe installation. The standardized design reduces transportation time, costs, and delivery cycles by over 50%. Design features such as a 'suspended roof' and 'sky-and-earth gates' expand operational space, enable natural ventilation, and ensure system safety.
As renewable energy costs decline and electrolyzer efficiency improves, green hydrogen will become more competitive. Trina Green Hydrogen will continue to invest in R&D to enhance product performance, lifespan, and stability—providing lasting momentum for the hydrogen-powered world of the future.

Petronas to make major announcements at SOGCE
Harun (third left) with Dolly (third right) inviting the public to attend SOGCE 2025. KOTA KINABALU (June 12): Petronas is expected to make several major announcements during the 12th Sabah Oil, Gas & Energy Conference & Exhibition (SOGCE), said Sabah Oil & Gas Development Corporation (SOGDC) chief executive officer Datuk Harun Ismail. 'I believe this year's SOGCE will be a very important event because I've heard that Petronas is planning to make significant announcements there,' Harun said at a press conference held at the SOGDC office in Wisma Innoprise today. He added that there may be two or three announcements by Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM) senior vice president Datuk Ir Bacho Pilong. 'I'm not sure what the announcements will be, but I understand they will be good news for Sabah,' he said. SOGCE 2025 is scheduled to take place from July 3 to 4 at the Sabah International Convention Centre, with the theme 'Fostering Collaboration, Paving Sustainable Opportunities.' The annual event is the only oil, gas, and energy-focused conference and exhibition held in Sabah, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders. Organising chairperson Dolly Jimayol said the conference will span one and a half days and feature high-level discussions, including on sustainability pathways and the emerging blue economy. She added that the exhibition will run concurrently, showcasing innovations and technologies from 90 local and international companies in the energy sector. 'This year's SOGCE remains a platform for business matching, learningnand industry collaboration,' Dolly said. 'We will also host youth engagement programmes and B2B meeting platforms.' 'SOGCE isn't just a business event — it's a catalyst for Sabah's economic development. We urge local oil and gas services and equipment (OGSE) companies, SMEs, youth, university and secondary school students, and the public to attend,' she added.

PETRONAS ramps up global LNG push to support China's energy transition
A Petronas staff member walks past the PETRONAS logo at the Petronas Twin Towers following the group's financial results announcement on March 13. — AZMAN GHANI/The Star PETRONAS, Malaysia's State-owned energy group, will accelerate the expansion of its global liquefied natural gas (LNG) portfolio to support China's growing energy needs, as the world's second-largest economy deepens efforts to shift toward cleaner fuels and strengthen energy security, said a senior executive. In 2024, PETRONAS exported 8 million metric tons of LNG to China, accounting for about 10 percent of the country's total LNG imports for the year, according to the Kuala Lumpur-headquartered company. In addition to ensuring long-term supply capability from its LNG complex by developing several new gas fields in Malaysia, including Timi, Kasawari and Jerun, PETRONAS will advance additional upstream projects such as the Rosmari and Marjoram fields, aimed at bolstering production capacity and meeting future demand, said Shamsairi Ibrahim, vice-president of PETRONAS' LNG marketing and trading, gas and maritime business. "Internationally, we are broadening our supply network, particularly in North America. A key milestone will be the first LNG cargo from our joint venture in Alberta-based LNG Canada, expected by mid-2025," said Ibrahim. Once operational, the project is expected to add 14 million metric tons per annum to PETRONAS' global LNG portfolio, significantly strengthening its export capacity and diversifying its supply base. To better serve Chinese clients and address global LNG demand in a more sustainable way, the company is also enhancing its delivery capabilities. This includes deploying three new LNG vessels to improve shipments to Shenergy Group's Wuhaogou terminal in Shanghai and to supply inland cities along the Yangtze River via creative pipeline systems. PETRONAS' efforts are further supported by its partnership with Tiger Gas, a Shanghai-based company with multiple investments in Malaysia, including LNG filling facilities in Bintulu. The collaboration enhances cross-border LNG infrastructure and reinforces shared commitments to clean energy development. One of the key outcomes of this collaboration is the development of a specially designed LNG vessel capable of carrying around 600 containers. Unlike conventional LNG carriers that require deep-water ports, this vessel can navigate directly into the Yangtze River, expanding LNG accessibility across China's non-coastal regions. Apart from LNG, the Malaysian energy group also supplies petrochemicals, crude oil and lubricants to the Chinese market. It is advancing marine LNG solutions such as bunkering services and expanding its LNG fleet with new LNG carriers. Four of these vessels are currently under construction at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co Ltd, a major shipyard based in Shanghai. Ibrahim noted that geopolitical uncertainties and rising energy security concerns have prompted many countries, including China, to prioritize domestic energy sources. This trend has introduced greater caution around long-term LNG contracts and tempered appetite for new import commitments, creating a more complex and unpredictable global LNG market. "Despite these challenges, PETRONAS remains confident in the value of its differentiated LNG and clean energy portfolio," he said, stressing that the company believes its continued commitment to providing reliable, sustainable energy solutions aligns well with China's long-term energy transition strategy. - China Daily/ANN
