Al Ahli and Umm Salal advance to the semifinals of the Amir Cup 2025
On 13 May 2025, the first quarterfinal match of the Amir Cup 2025 was played between Al Ahli and Al Shahania at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, while the second quarterfinal between Umm Salal and Al Shamal took place at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.

An extra-time winner from Sekou Yansane took Al Ahli SC through to the Amir Cup 2025 semi-finals after defeating Al Shahania 2-1 on 13 May 2025.
Tunisian fullback Hamdi Nagguez gave Al Shahania an early lead in Minute 9, but Hamad Mansour equalized in the 68th minute, forcing extra time.
This victory sets up a clash with the winners of the AL Duhail-Al Rayyan quarter-finals encounter scheduled for 14 May 2025.

Umm Salal vs Al Shamal
The second quarterfinal saw Al Shamal take the lead with a 53rd-minute goal from Naim Sliti, before Umm Salal equalized through Antonio Mance in the 86th minute.
The match went into extra time and was eventually decided by penalties. Umm Salal won the penalty shootout 3-2 and qualified for the semifinals of the Amir Cup 2025.

Sheikh Joaan crowns Al Duhail as Amir Cup Handball Champions
H.E. Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), crowned team Al Duhail as champions of H.H. the Amir Handball Cup for the 2024–2025 season, following their 29-27 victory over Al Arabi in the final held at the Duhail Arena on Tuesday. Sheikh Joaan presented the championship trophy and gold medals to Al Duhail players, and silver medals Al Arabi also honored the match referees and officials. The final was attended by H.E. Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain, Secretary-General of QOC; Ahmed Mohammed Al Shaabi, President of the Qatar Handball Association; Badr Al Dhiyab, Vice-President of the International Handball Federation for Asia, as well as several Gulf federation presidents and sports leaders. This marks the fifth Amir Cup title for Al Duhail, while Al Sadd holds the all-time record with eight titles.

Al Duhail part ways with coach Galtier after contract ends
Tribune News Network Doha Al Duhail have parted ways with French coach Christophe Galtier following the expiration of his contract, the Qatar Stars League (QSL) club announced on Tuesday. The former Paris Saint-Germain coach joined Al Duhail in October 2023, replacing Argentine tactician Hernan Crespo. 'The management of Al Duhail Sports Club extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to the technical director of the first football team, Mr. Christophe Galtier, and his assistant staff, following the end of his contract with the club. We wish them all the best in their next endeavors,' Al Duhail said in a statement on X. Al Duhail ended the season without a trophy, finishing as runners-up in both the QSL and the Qatar Cup, with Al Sadd claiming both titles. They were also eliminated from the Amir Cup at the quarter-final stage after a loss to Al Rayyan.
