Thousands without power as severe storms move across Kansas City area
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Multiple people across the Kansas City area are without power as severe storms continue moving across the metro.
A Tuesday for southeastern Clay County, southern Ray County, northwestern Lafayette County and northeastern Jackson County in Missouri.
If you are in these areas, please take shelter immediately.
Evergy is reporting 1,467 customers are without power in Jackson County and 300 in Clay County as of 2:50 p.m.

On the Kansas side, Evergy is reporting 2,346 customers without power in Johnson County, 1,978 in Douglas County and 101 in Leavenworth County as of 2:50 p.m.

Severe storms expected Thursday
(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — Severe thunderstorms are often expected over eastern Colorado in early June. The image below from the Colorado Climate Center shows a smoothed version of severe weather days over a two-week running mean (thick black lines). Significant severe weather reports are also represented over a running two-week mean (thinner blue line). For tornadoes, the frequency ramps up through May and reaches a peak in early June, with a slow decline through the summer and into the fall. The graph for severe hail looks similar, but shifted a little later: the peak is in mid-June. Wind reports from severe thunderstorms are more frequent later in the summer, with a peak in early to mid-July. An average of all three types of severe weather reports puts the climatological peak of severe weather on June 10, so no big surprise we've got some in the forecast for the end of the week. For Thursday, storms will strengthen as they move or develop over the eastern plains. Severe storms are certainly possible along the Front Range, but are a little more likely from Trinidad to Cheyenne Wells and most likely in the southeast corner of the state. It is likely that a severe thunderstorm and/or tornado watch will be issued for parts of eastern Colorado later on today. Cleanup underway after 2,000 gallons of diesel fuel leaks in Baltimore marina
BALTIMORE, Md. () — Emergency crews in Baltimore are working to clean up a spill after about 2,000 gallons of diesel fuel leaked in Harbor East. Maryland officials said the incident happened around 11 a.m. on June 4, when fuel began leaking from the Johns Hopkins Hospital's facility in East Baltimore. Nearly two hours later, the Baltimore City Fire Department was dispatched to a marina in Harbor East. While investigating the spill, officials learned that the fuel began leaking into the marina from the facility, which was about 1.3 miles away. Around 100 firefighters respond to Northwest DC house fire As of Wednesday afternoon, the spill was contained in the marina at the South Central Avenue Bridge. The Maryland Department of the Environment said the water was stained red because of the dye in the oil. Officials noted that it will not impact drinking water in the area. More than 10 agencies across Maryland have been called to help contain the spill. Officials said the U.S. Coast Guard and a private contractor are working to clear the oil from the water by using oil absorbent materials and skimmers that will feed into a 4,000-gallon pump truck. During a press conference on Thursday morning, officials said several geese were removed from the water and taken to a wildlife rehab center. 'We are going to do everything in our power to restore the area as quickly as possible without compromising public safety,' said Mayor Scott. As cleanup efforts continue, traffic will be disrupted, and Central Avenue to Fleet Street will be closed. Check for updates. The story behind statue of King Kamehameha I
HONOLULU (KHON2) – In the ahupuaʻa of Honolulu, which lies in the moku of Kona here on Oʻahu, stands a symbol of Hawaiian pride. We are speaking of King Kamehameha I Statue. Kaʻahumanu St, from Downtown Honolulu to Pearl City What was originally proposed to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Captain Cook's arrival to Hawaiʻi, an image of a 45-year-old King Kamehameha I was chosen as a monument promoting Hawaiian national pride. At a cost of $10,000, it was politician Walter Gibson representing Lāhainā who had proposed the idea. Having been started in Boston and completed in Paris, the 7-foot-tall statue left Germany on a ship in August of months later, word reached Hawaiʻi that the ship went down off the coast of Falkland Islands, losing all of its cargo. Following the loss of the original statue, a second statue of King Kamehameha I was commissioned. But to the government's surprise, the original was recovered and arrived in Honolulu a couple months prior to its replacement. Today, there are four.
