Watch above for extended highlights and reactions from the win!
'Great to come in here and to win our fifth straight district title, it's a testament to these kids of hard they've worked,' said JFK head coach Jim Ciambotti. 'We've been through a lot this year with the weather and other things. But the seniors held this team together, they were the glue to hold this team together.'
Eagle's pitcher Freddy Bolchalk earned the win with nine strikeouts. The senior allowed four hits and just one run in the win.
'So awesome, no one would ever thought five years ago we would have won five straight districts,' said Bolchalk. 'But to know that we did it, it's a great pat on the back, and it's exciting to keep it moving. This isn't our end goal, and this is just one step closer to where we actually want to be.'
Warren JFK's Trevin Rinck and Taggart Carfangia each drove in two runs each in the victory. Landon Snyder, Michael Bartoe, and Brennan Sanata also drove in one run each in the win.
Warren JFK moves on to the Regional Semifinals against St. John's next week.

Lakeview preps for first final four in school history
CORTLAND, Ohio (WKBN) – Lakeview softball has already achieved one of the most successful seasons in school history, with a potential championship in sight. 'Really, the big thing I'm focused on is to try to ignore all the extra stuff,' said Lakeview head coach David Kelm. 'We're still playing softball. It's just softball. We're going to just go play softball. So, however it bounces, however it goes.' The Bulldogs punched their ticket to the final four in late May with a 5-1 win against Perry in the Division IV Regional Final. 'I think it's always good to have people doubt you,' said Lakeview junior catcher Mackenzie Stow. 'It creates a flame, a fire. We have nothing to lose; everyone else does. We're just creating a new name, creating history.' Lakeview also claimed the school's first district title since 2016 in the Division IV District Championship game this season. 'We try not to think about it too much,' said senior pitcher Ava Bacon. 'It's just another game, I know it's a state semifinal, but we can't let it get to our heads too much.' Lakeview currently has an overall season record of 22-4. 'All the hard work is paying off, but we know it's not done yet,' said junior pitcher Isabella Isenberg. 'I think going into tomorrow, we know we're not done. We're ready to keep playing.' Lakeview plays Hillsboro in the 2025 OHSAA Softball State Semifinals at Firestone Stadium in Akron, Wednesday, June 4 at 12:30 p.m. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Bakers needed for Simply Slavic baking contest
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Those who have their own cultural recipes have the chance to win the baker's hat in the upcoming Simply Slavic baking contest. The contest is for nonprofessional bakers to showcase their best baked goods. Wednesday is the last day to sign up for the baking contest, and entries must be submitted this Saturday for the judging, which is done in advance of the festival. The contest accepts a wide range of items. 'There is no specific categories. So the category is Eastern European foods, so baked goods, so anything from the Croatians, the Poles, the Russians, the Ukrainians, anybody can bring some grandma's secret recipes that they're holding on to, and just bring it and share it with us,' said organizer Marta Mazur. You only need to bake two items — one for Saturday's judging and one to be sold at the Simply Slavik festival, which is June 13 and 14. Winners will be recognized at the festival. To sign up, call Marta Mazur at 330-261-4263 or email bakingcontest@ Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
