One of Texas's oldest BBQ joints is closing permanently after 34 years

Is there anything that screams Texas more than BBQ? Okay, maybe Friday night lights and chicken fried steak but BBQ is certainly near the top of the list. Barbecue is more than just a meal in Texas. It's a cultural institution, a source of state pride, and a culinary tradition that unites communities across generations. Texans take their barbecue seriously, often debating the merits of brisket, ribs, and sausage with the same fervor others reserve for sports teams. Don't miss the move: Subscribe to TheStreet's free daily newsletter Today, Texas barbecue spots range from humble roadside shacks to acclaimed craft establishments, drawing locals and tourists alike for a taste of slow-smoked perfection. The lines outside legendary spots like Snow's and Franklin Barbecue are a testament to the devotion Texans have for their smoked meat, with some fans lining up before dawn for a chance at the day's best cuts. There are even four Texas BBQ restaurants with a Michelin Star. But the competition is fierce, just like it is for all restaurants these days. After 34 years of serving up classic Central Texas-style barbecue in Arlington, Bodacious Bar-B-Q will close its doors this August, confirming rumors circulating among loyal patrons. Owner Fran Ruegsegger announced the news in a heartfelt Facebook post, expressing gratitude for the generations of customers who have become "more like family and friends instead of just customers," according to a report on Chron. The Arlington location, which opened in 1991, is part of a broader legacy that began in 1965 when Dallas native Roland Lindsey founded the first Bodacious in Longview. Related: Beloved local family diner closing after nearly 40 years Over the decades, Bodacious expanded across North and East Texas, each location independently owned but united by a commitment to traditional fare: brisket, hot links, pork ribs, ranch-hand stew, and the beloved Bo-Pie, a concoction of Fritos topped with chopped brisket, beans and cheese. Ruegsegger emphasized that the restaurant isn't closed yet and encouraged customers to stop by before the final day, which is still to be determined. "God never closes one door that He doesn't have a better one to walk through, so we are excited for whatever opportunities God has ahead for us," Ruegsegger wrote. When Bodacious closes its doors it will mark the end of an era for one of Arlington's most cherished barbecue joints. The closure of Bodacious Bar-B-Q in Arlington is not an isolated event, but part of a larger wave of restaurant shutdowns sweeping across Texas and the nation. The restaurant industry has faced mounting challenges in recent years, from rising costs and shifting consumer preferences to increased competition and the lingering effects of economic headwinds. Even iconic brands like Red Lobster, TGI Fridays, and Wendy's have shuttered hundreds of locations, while others have filed for bankruptcy or downsized to adapt to new market realities. The restaurant industry is experiencing a shift toward restaurants that can accommodate digital ordering and delivery and a lean staff. Running a restaurant where someone has to be on site at the crack of dawn to get a fire going, a requirement for a place that cooks BBQ, is a tall order. Bodacious BBQ in Arlington will close its doors in August so get in there and order up some of their signature brisket while you still can. Nvidia (NVDA) Rival Huawei Is Struggling to Win Over Customers despite Export Rules

Nvidia (NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang has repeatedly warned about the growing competition from China's Huawei in the AI chip market. But so far, Huawei is struggling to convince China's biggest tech companies to adopt its chips, according to The Information. Indeed, although ByteDance, Alibaba (BABA), and Tencent (TCEHY) are testing Huawei's chips, they haven't placed any large orders yet. This is because the firms still prefer Nvidia's products, despite U.S. export restrictions. While Huawei has sold chips to state-owned companies and local governments, it has yet to make major gains with top private tech firms. Confident Investing Starts Here: One major reason why big Chinese tech firms are hesitant to make the switch is that their data centers and engineering teams are built around Nvidia's CUDA software. Moving to Huawei's ecosystem would require rewriting code, retraining staff, and losing access to tools that have been developed over the past 15 years. Testing has also revealed some problems: Huawei's latest AI chip, the Ascend 910C, often overheats, and its Compute Architecture for Neural Networks software lacks many of CUDA's features. Additionally, Chinese tech firms compete with Huawei in cloud computing, which makes them more cautious about adopting a rival's hardware. It also doesn't help that U.S. warnings about penalties for using Huawei's advanced AI chips have added further risk. In fact, after one such warning, a Chinese data center canceled a planned order of Huawei chips. Nevertheless, Huang continues to monitor Huawei's progress closely. What Is a Good Price for NVDA? Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Strong Buy consensus rating on NVDA stock based on 35 Buys, four Holds, and one Sell assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. Furthermore, the average NVDA price target of $172.36 per share implies 21% upside potential.

Analyst sends message on Nvidia stock after private dinner with CFO

Analyst sends message on Nvidia stock after private dinner with CFO originally appeared on TheStreet. Making a tech company successful isn't easy. Keeping it successful is even more difficult. A company that launches a successful product in huge demand can easily become complacent, giving competitors an opportunity to enter its space. Don't believe me? Just think of Nokia and BlackBerry's reactions to the launch of the iPhone. Great companies don't allow the competition to out-innovate; so far, that's been true of Nvidia. Nvidia's CEO, Jensen Huang, has shown an uncanny knack for knowing when it's time to pivot or innovate, such as recognizing that the key to its success wasn't simply fast semiconductor chips, but software too. 💵💰Don't miss the move: Subscribe to TheStreet's free daily newsletter 💰💵 For instance, early on in the video gaming era of the company, it was all about graphics card drivers. Nvidia's release of the CUDA software development kit in 2007 sparked a significant shift by enabling general-purpose parallel programming on GPUs. In layman's terms, CUDA made it possible to write applications that can "crunch the numbers" on many GPU cores, making calculations much faster than on the CPU. This technology enabled Nvidia to capture the market quickly, and due to CUDA's proprietary nature, switching to competing products was difficult. Its success in super-fast chips and software eventually allowed it to exploit the crypto boom successfully, as crypto miners flocked to its solution to mine digital currencies more efficiently. More recently, that advantage has also allowed it to profit handsomely from the boom in artificial intelligence - after all, CUDA supports neural networks. Of course, it hasn't all been smooth sailing for Nvidia, including this year. The company is under pressure because of export restrictions on selling its AI chips in China. Nvidia released its earnings for Q1 fiscal 2026 on May 28, and while they reported revenue of $44.1 billion, with an impressive yearly growth of 69%, the release also contained a note that worried some investors. The U.S. government announced it would require a license to export Nvidia's H20 chip to China, making Nvidia unable to ship an additional $2.5 billion worth of H20 products during restrictions are expected to weigh down Nvidia's results in Q2. Still, management's fiscal second quarter outlook remains impressive: Revenue is expected to be $45.0 billion, plus or minus 2%. GAAP gross margins are expected to be 71.8%, plus or minus 50 basis points. Following the earnings report, Nvidia and Dell announced they are building a supercomputer for NERSC, a U.S. Department of Energy user facility at Berkeley Lab. Investing expert James "Rev Shark" DePorre, recently wrote on TheStreet Pro "Nvidia is the driving force behind the infrastructure needed for AI. It dominates the semiconductor market and is at the cutting edge of innovation." More Nvidia: Analysts issue rare warning on Nvidia stock before key earnings Analysts double price target of new AI stock backed by Nvidia Nvidia CEO shares blunt message on China chip sales ban For him, Nvidia seems like a safe bet, despite its China headwinds. Bank of America Global Research Media recently hosted Nvidia CFO Colette Kress and VP IR Toshiya Hari for an investor dinner alongside VP/GM of Hyperscale and HPC Computing Ian Buck for a keynote session in San Francisco. At the dinner, Bank of America says Nvidia addressed three key issues: Blackwell rack ramp/execution AI Diffusion and sovereign demand China AI shipmentsNvidia's Latest-gen GB200 NVL rack-scale systems are fully ramping as of June 5, with Blackwell well on track. In fiscal Q1, Blackwell Ultra represented about 70% of compute sales. Blackwell Ultra production will begin in fiscal Q2 for a second-half volume ramp. Also, its next-gen Rubin/Feynman solution is also on track for an annual product cadence. Third-party estimates suggest 5 to 7 gigawatts of data center capacity will be installed this year. As a result, Nvidia's data center opportunity should be worth between $250 billion and $350 billion, with a current pipeline of approximately $175 billion. "We view NVDA's relationship with hyperscalers as symbiotic, offering a steady stream of compute capability that is both planned ahead and well-executed," wrote analyst Vivek Arya. "Post the H20 export restriction and write-offs, China is now fully de-risked for NVDA, with no China-related sales in their current Data Center forecasts," the analyst continued. "Meanwhile, the lift of AI Diffusion Rules opens access to sovereign AI for NVDA, offering opportunity whether directly through sovereigns, or through CSPs/neoclouds/enterprises investing on their behalf." In conclusion, BankofAmerica's analyst, stated: "We maintain buy, a top sector pick with a $180 PO as we believe NVDA remains best positioned to benefit from the ongoing AI tide, supported by a multi-year lead in performance (AI scaling), pipeline, incumbency, scale, and developer support"Analyst sends message on Nvidia stock after private dinner with CFO first appeared on TheStreet on Jun 6, 2025 This story was originally reported by TheStreet on Jun 6, 2025, where it first appeared.
