Egypt's amb. in Riyadh asserts Cairo's interest in attracting more Saudi investments
CAIRO, March 5 (MENA) – Egypt's ambassador in Riyadh Ehab Abu Srei asserted Cairo's interest in attracting more Saudi investments especially in the industrial and mining fields.
The Egyptian ambassador underlined keenness of Egyptian government on removing obstacles facing Saudi investors in Egypt.
During Abu Srei's meeting Wednesday with Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Ibrahim Alkhorayef, the Egyptian ambassador highlighted structural and comprehensive reforms and facilities taken by the Egyptian State to improve the investment atmosphere.
For his part, the Saudi minister pointed out to the importance of relations between both countries, especially in light of crucial circumstances taking place in the region.
Alkhorayef said cooperation between Egypt and Saudi Arabia in the industrial field is an example to follow.
Both countries work on achieving full industrial integration especially in the sectors of mining, car industry, medicines and food industries, he added.

Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty made phones with his Qatari and Iranian counterparts Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Abbas Araghchi, respectively CAIRO- 13 June 2025: Two phone calls took place on Friday, June 13, 2025, between Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty, with his Qatari and Iranian counterparts Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Abbas Araghchi, respectively, to discuss the developments in the region following the military attacks launched by Israel against several military and nuclear sites in Iran early this morning. During the two calls, views and assessments were tackled regarding the repercussions of the unjustified and irresponsible Israeli aggression and its dangerous impact on the security and stability of the region. During his call with his Iranian counterpart, Minister Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's rejection and condemnation of the infringement on the sovereignty of states and the violation of their unity and territorial integrity. He emphasized the importance of working to de-escalate tensions and prevent the entire region from slipping into chaos and expanding the scope of the conflict. Separately, Minister Abdelatty's call with his Qatari counterpart also addressed the developments in the efforts being made by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States to reach a ceasefire in Gaza and secure the release of hostages and prisoners, as well as efforts to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Strip amid the deteriorating humanitarian situation. Also, according to a statement iussed by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and Vice President of the State of Palestine Hussein Al-Sheikh addressed the ts expected repercussions of the Israeli attacks against Iran on the security and stability of the region and its countries and addressed the latest developments of the Palestinian cause. Egypt strongly condemned the military strikes carried out by the Israeli army against Iran in the early hours of June 13, 2025. 'These attacks represent a blatant and extremely dangerous escalation in the region, a clear violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, and a direct threat to both regional and international peace and security,' the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated. 'Egypt is following these rapid developments with deep concern and firmly denounces this unjustified act, which will only exacerbate the crisis and risks triggering a broader regional conflict. Such escalation could have unprecedented consequences for the region's security and stability, endangering its peoples and threatening to plunge the entire Middle East into widespread chaos,' the statement continued. Egypt reiterated its position that the crises facing the region cannot be resolved through military means, but rather through political and peaceful solutions. The Ministry stressed that the use of force will not bring security to any country, including Israel. True security, it emphasized, can only be achieved by respecting state sovereignty, preserving the unity and territorial integrity of nations, delivering justice, and ending the Israeli occupation of Arab lands. Israel carried out airstrikes on several Iranian cities, inclduing nuclear sites, in the early hours of June 13, 2025, killing at least 78 people and injuring 329 others as a preliminary toll, inclduing Iranian nuclear scientists and military leaders. The Israeli army said in a statement on Friday that it luanhced a 'preemptive strike against Iran's Nuclear Program' with more than 200 Israeli Air Force fighter jets, operating with precise intelligence from the IDF Intelligence Directorate, conducted coordinated strikes on over 100 targets across Iran. Israeli media outlets reported that the Israeli operation against Iran could last for weeks amid Iranian threat of a severe retaliation. Iranian military leaders killed in the Israeli airstrikes include Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Commander of the Khatam-al Anbiya Central Headquarters of the Iranian General Staff, Major General Gholam Ali Rashid. The Khatam al Anbiya Headquarters is a Unified Combatant Command Headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces, operating under the direct command of the General Staff, is responsible for planning and coordinating joint military operations across all branches of Iran's armed forces. Also, Hossein Salami, the commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was killed in the airstrikes. Besides killing civilians inlcuding women and children, six nuclear sceintists were killed in the israeli airstrike; Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency reported on Friday that the scientists killed included Fereydoun Abbasi, former head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, and Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi, a prominent physicist and president of Islamic Azad University. Several world countries, inlcuding, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Lebanon, and Oman- the broker of the US/Iranian talks on the Iranian nucleary program- condemned the Israeli attacks, saying these blatant attacks violate the interntaional laws. Additionally, several countries suspended their flights to and from Iran and Israel.

Libya denies stopping Soumoud convoy without cause - Foreign Affairs
The Libyan Ministry of Interior denied on Friday the claim made by the Soumoud convoy that the ministry had stopped the convoy in Sirte without cause. It clarified that the convoy had been requested to provide visas and official approvals from Egypt, none of which have been provided yet. Speaking to "Almarsad," the ministry said that though the Libyan government and the general command had initially prepared escort patrols and reception points in the cities of Sirte and Ajdabiya, they were surprised that some participants in the convoy lacked any identification documents. According to the Libyan interior ministry, some individuals' passports had expired, while others had passports close to expiration, rendering them ineligible for travel through any country. "Some participants had no passports at all," the ministry said, expressing confusion over how they were allowed to enter through the city of Ra's Ajdir in violation of Libyan laws requiring valid passports. The ministry also noted an unjustified hostile tone from the convoy organisers upon their arrival on the outskirts of Sirte, with some reportedly using inflammatory language such as "enemies of God and tyrants." It emphasised that it has clear instructions to allow passage to anyone with a valid passport and visa, in accordance with Libyan laws and international agreements governing the movement of individuals between countries. In conclusion, the ministry affirmed that Libya does not allow its citizens to travel to Egypt without proper procedures, and that Egypt applies the same rules. Algerian and Tunisian nationals, it stressed, are not exempt from the laws regulating cross-border movement. On Thursday, the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for respecting Egypt's border regulations, referencing an earlier statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs outlining the rules for visiting border areas adjacent to Gaza. The Libyan Foreign Ministry said, "We emphasise the importance of adhering to these controls and fully coordinating with the relevant authorities to ensure the safety of participants and the success of the convoy's objectives." On Wednesday, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry called on international delegations wishing to visit the border area near Gaza to express support for Palestinian rights to secure prior approval, citing safety concerns and sensitive security conditions. On Monday, the Soumoud (Steadfastness) land convoy left Tunisia bound for Gaza, reportedly planning to travel through Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt. The nine-bus convoy, which seeks to break Israel's blockade on Gaza, carries humanitarian aid and around 2,000 activists from Mauritania, Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia. It comes days after the Israeli navy seized the Freedom Flotilla ship Madleen, which was also attempting to deliver aid to the Gaza Strip by sea. The Madleen aid boat, which set sail for Gaza from Italy on 1 June, was boarded by activists including Swedish climate campaigner Greta Thunberg and European parliament member Franco-Palestinian Rima Hassan. OPEN// PM says closely following up repercussions of Israel's attack on Iran
CAIRO, June 13 (MENA) - Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli said Friday that he is closely monitoring the repercussions of the Israeli military operation against Iran. There is ongoing coordination between Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt Hassan Abdullah and Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk to bolster the strategic stockpile of essential goods. Madbouli further noted that a meeting will be held with the electricity and petroleum ministers to review scenarios regarding the repercussions of the military developments in the region.
