Enya leaves fans stunned as she makes first public appearance in eight years amid her reclusive life

Daily Mail5 days ago

Enya has left fans stunned as she recently made her first public appearance in eight years.
The Irish singer-songwriter, 64, known for her reclusive lifestyle, enjoyed a rare night out earlier this month as she was snapped at a wedding in Donegal, northwest Ireland.
The Orinoco Flow hitmaker smiled for the photo as she posed alongside her sister Moya Brennan, brother-in-law Tim Jarvis and members of the Irish dance group, Donegal Dancers.
Dressed up for the nuptials at Drumhalla House, Enya looked fabulous in a black lace top and chic white midi skirt which she teamed with black heels and silver jewellery.
The performer, who ventured out of the Dublin castle she shares with her cats, wore her raven locks in a chic fringed style and highlighted her features with a subtle palette of make-up.
From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop.
The image was shared to the Donegal Dancer's official Facebook page, as well as on Reddit, with fans quick to comment on how great Enya looked.
They penned: 'She looks great after another decade! And her outfit, of course, is totally enya coded.'
'Good to see our Enya. Moya is looking great too.'
'Omg, I'm so happy to see her finally.'
'Wow she looks great! She gained a bit of weight and it really suits her. Makes her look younger.'
'She looks so lovely here, but girl drop the mixtape already omg it's been 10 years.'
Enya's last public appearance was at the 2017 Grammy Awards.
The performer has maintained a reclusive existence since she shot to super-stardom following the release of her global hit Orinoco Flow (Sail Away) in 1988.

Her next door neighbour is U2 frontman Bono and in a rare televised appearance on This Morning in 2016 she joked that the rocker popped round to borrow sugar
Enya, who is renowned for her ethereal vocals, lives in the impressive Ayesha Castle in Killiney, south Dublin, which boasts stunning views of the Irish Sea.
She purchased the building for £2.5 million in 1997 and currently lives alone with only her cats for company.
Her next door neighbour is U2 frontman Bono and in a rare televised appearance on This Morning in 2016 she joked that the rocker popped round to borrow sugar.
She previously told The Guardian: 'It's very castle on the exterior, but it's very much a home inside. It's actually a very small castle and I fell in love with it'
Her unique brand of music is created in collaboration with producer Nicky Ryan, 67, and his lyricist wife Roma.
The Irish songstress is her country's best-selling solo artist and has released nine studio albums, selling an estimated 75-80 million records worldwide.
She's recorded in 10 different languages including in Lord of the Rings creator JRR Tolkien's Sindarin and Quenya, as well as a language created by herself and her songwriters called Loxian.
The star's success is an anomaly in an industry where constant touring, heavy radio play and public appearances are usually required to return strong record sales.
An industry insider told The Sun: 'Throughout the music business there's no one else who is so successful about whom so little is known. She doesn't socialise, she's barely seen out of the house, there aren't any clues in her lyrics about her life.'
Enya's last public appearance was at the 2017 Grammy Awards [pictured]
However, she has vehemently defended her lifestyle and approach to music.
'It's not a hanging offence not wanting to go to nightclubs,' said the singer. 'What happened to choice? My choice is that after a certain amount of promotion, I feel it gets very false and then I'm not interested.
'When the album has been out for, say, 10 months, people will start focusing on me and I really don't want that. I love the music to be known, but I'm not after fame for myself.'
She told The Independent that she had 'never tried to create an enigma' but has always been an independent person.
Her passion for music has had an impact on her love-life, although music is what's most important to her.
She previously said: '...there have been… relationships. It's quite hard to have someone accept that – well, not that they are second to the music, but that I do need a certain amount of space for it. And even though the person will understand that at the beginning, there is something like jealousy towards the music after a while.'
Hailing from a musical family, Enya became a member of the Celtic folk band Clannad in 1980 but left just two years later to pursue a solo career.
While each of her records through the nineties sold well, she had a boost in sales following the 9/11 terror attacks when her song Only Time, from her album A Day Without Rain (2000), was used by CNN to accompany clips of shocking footage from the attacks.
Her distinguished career has seen her win four Grammy awards as well as an Oscar nomination and Golden Globe gong for May It Be, a song she wrote for Lord of the Ring: The Fellowship of the Ring.

Terry Wogan's wife Lady Helen leaves eye-watering amount in her will after she died aged 88 – 9 years after her husband

SIR Terry Wogan's widow Lady Helen left a £5million fortune in her estate, The Sun can reveal. The hero broadcaster's loyal wife of 51 years died last year aged 88, and split her will between the couple's three living children. 4 4 Documents signed off by the High Court last week reveal Lady Wogan left a total of £4,948,334. The total was reduced by £31,000 to £4,917,989 after costs and fees were removed. Lady Wogan left tax-free gifts to two of her children – £850,000 to Alan Wogan, who was named as an executor on the estate, and £750,000 to Katherine. A £100,000 trust was also set up for each of her five grandchildren, to be made available to them when they turn 25. The remainder of the money and her possessions were split between all three living children, including son Matt. Sir Terry and Helen tragically lost their first baby, Vanessa, to a heart condition just a few weeks after she was born in 1966. Lady Wogan signed her final will in February 2023. It means she left nearly five times more than her husband, who died in 2016 aged 77. Sir Terry, said to be worth £20 million at his peak, passed on £1million in his estate. He frequently mentioned Lady Helen on the radio, jokingly calling her "The Present Mrs Wogan", or, after his 2005 knighthood, 'The Present Lady Wogan'. Son Matt led tributes to his mother after her death. He wrote: "Our beautiful Mum left us last night after a fantastic life. From a young Irish rose to Lady Wogan, she was the epitome of style and grace. "A Mother, Grandmother and Wife, with love and kindness at her core. "A strength and a belief that saw her through many of life's trials. Among the celebrities to send their condolences in response were presenters Jeremy Clarkson and Eamonn Holmes, and singer Ronan Keating. Sun columnist Jeremy said: "Horrible when it happens. Thinking of you." TV legend Holmes also wrote: "Mark, so sorry to hear. What a woman and what a couple. "My sincere condolences to you." And Boyzone frontman Keating added: "Sending love matey. God bless ya all." Lady Helen, from Rathmines, a suburb in Dublin, was a top model in Ireland in the early 1960s. She married Sir Terry in a local parish church in 1965, after the pair met while Wogan was an up-and-coming star on Irish radio. Sir Terry died of cancer in January 2016, three months after his final episode of Weekend Wogan, in which he announced he was suffering from prostate cancer. Between 1993 and his semi-retirement in December 2009, his BBC Radio 2 breakfast show drew in an average of eight million listeners. After his death, the BBC renamed Radio 2's studios to Wogan House as a mark of respect. 4 4

Inside the high society wedding of the year as Steve Jobs's daughter Eve is set to wed Team GB equestrian Harry Charles

High society is gearing up for the wedding of the summer as a billionaire heiress and a Team GB star prepare to walk down the aisle in a spectacular ceremony in the Cotswolds. Eve Jobs, the 26-year-old daughter of late Apple founder Steve, will wed British gold medal-winning equestrian Harry Charles, 25 in the British countryside in August - a year after confirming their relationship. The couple were first spotted in public together at last year's Olympic Games in Paris - where Harry bagged a gold medal in team jumping. As planning for their nuptials enters its final stages, the Mail's diary editor Richard Eden has revealed details about the star-studded guestlist for the bash. The ceremony will be held in the star-studded Cotswolds, where celebrities including the Beckhams and Ellen DeGeneres have flocked in recent years. And the guest list is set to be just as glamorous, with the likes of Princess Beatrice and Kamala Harris reportedly expected to attend. Eve, a model and show jumper in her own right, has two older siblings and one half-sibling. Reed Jobs, 33, and Erin Jobs, 29, will likely be at the wedding. However it's currently not known if her half sibling Lisa Brennan-Jobs, 47, will attend. Aside from her siblings, Eve has a plethora of high-profile friends descended from other tech billionaires - including Jennifer and Phoebe Gates, the daughters of Microsoft founder Bill Gates, who will likely be in attendance. She is also friends with Lilli Hymowitz, daughter of billionaire Gregg Hymowitz, the CEO and founder of investment firm EnTrust Global. In 2023, Eve was spotted mingling amongst high society's wealthiest members at a gala in New York City, including Rupert Murdoch's ex-wife Wendi Deng, who she struck a pose with for photos, and Lili Buffett, the granddaughter of billionaire investor and philanthropist Warren Buffet. Former US vice president Kamala Harris is also expected to attend the event thanks to her long-time friendship with Eve's mother and one of the richest people in the world, Laurene Powell Jobs. Laurene and Kamala have been friends for more than 20 years, with the billionaire philanthropist backing Kamala's run for US presidency last year, which she eventually lost to President Donald Trump. And while Eve is tech royalty, there may even be real royalty at her and Harry's wedding. According to Tatler, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are expected to attend too. On top of Eve's impressive connections, Harry has his own entourage who will surely bring the party. His father is Peter Charles, whose team won Britain's first team jumping gold medal for 60 years at the 2012 London Summer Olympics. His Olympic teammates Scott Brash and Ben Maher may also attend, having claimed victory in team jumping together at the Paris Olympics. No details have been released about Eve's bridal style yet, but a designer collaboration is surely in the works for the fashion model, who has walked the runways for Coperni, alongside Gigi Hadid, and Louis Vuitton. Eve's career as a fashion model is sure to guarantee that her bridal looks will be the result of a designer collaboration Eve started riding horses when she was just six years old and became one of the top-ranked under-25 jumpers in the world She made her modelling debut in a 2020 holiday campaign for makeup brand Glossier alongside Sydney Sweeney and Naomi Smalls. Eve is signed to DNA Model Management, who also represents Kaia Gerber and Emily Ratajkowski. Eve also frequently appears on front row seats at Paris Fashion Week, attended her first Met Gala in 2022, and is regularly seen at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party wearing designers such as Molly Goddard and vintage Donna Karan. She may even go in another direction entirely and pay tribute to her late father, who died in 2011 when she was just 12 years old, and wear something from his favourite designer, Issey Miyake. The iconic Japanese designer, who died in 2022 at the age of 84, was behind Steve's iconic black turtleneck uniform that 'helped make him the world's most recognisable CEO', according to Gawker. However, neither Eve nor Harry have divulged any details on what their wedding looks will entail at the time or reporting. The pair have kept their relationship largely private, but their shared love for equestrian sports is likely what brought them together. Eve, a self-described 'horse girl', started riding when she was just six years old and had made some considerable achievements, including winning a bronze medal in the team event at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. She was front and centre to watch Harry win his gold medal last year and shared a loving post on Instagram with the caption: 'TEAM GOLD!!!!!! Beyond proud of you my love!!!!' While information is scant, details about the high society wedding of the year continue to trickle in - and as British summer is well underway, the countdown is on.
