No date for nuclear talks: Iran warns E3 against JCPOA's snapback
Shafaq News/ Iran's Foreign Ministry on Sunday dismissed 'media speculation' about a scheduled date for the next round of nuclear negotiations with the United States as tensions mount with European signatories to the 2015 nuclear deal.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei confirmed no agreement has been reached on timing or location for renewed negotiations.
His statement followed the fifth round of indirect talks between Tehran and Washington held Friday in Rome under Omani mediation. The discussions reportedly stalled over Iran's demand to retain its domestic uranium enrichment capabilities, something US officials have called a red line.
Separately, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned Germany, France, and the UK (the E3) against triggering the JCPOA's snapback mechanism, which could reinstate UN sanctions.
According to lawmaker Ebrahim Rezaei, Araghchi delivered the warning during a closed-door briefing on the Rome negotiations, reiterating Iran's 'firm stance' and refusal to yield under pressure. He also cautioned that any Israeli military action targeting Iran's nuclear sites would destabilize the entire region.

INA-sources US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said Saturday that China plans to "invade" Taiwan in 2027 and warned that any attempt could result in devastating consequences for the Indo-Pacific region and the world. Hegseth urged US allies in the region to increase their defense spending as he addressed the Shangri-La Dialogue -- a key annual defense and security forum, in Singapore. He added that Washington is not going to "sugarcoat it" but the threat China poses is real and it could be imminent. "But let me again be clear: The United States does not seek war. We do not seek to dominate or strangle China. We do not seek to humiliate China. We do not seek regime change. Instead, we seek peace. But we must ensure that China cannot dominate us — or our allies and partners." said Hegseth. He accused Beijing of harassing its neighbors in the South China Sea, but said Washington is watching China's actions closely. "Any unilateral attempt in the South China Sea to change the status quo by force or coercion is unacceptable," said Hegseth, adding Beijing wants to control the Asia region. He urged Asian and European allies to increase their defense spending.,"We must ensure that our defense spending reflects the dangers and threats we face today." Hegseth added that President Donald Trump is building the US military stronger as he proposes spending for the first time -- more than $1 trillion next year to do it. "The Golden Dome for America, our new sixth-generation fighter, the F-47; our new stealth bomber, the B-21; new submarines and destroyers are all a part of that. The best military equipment in the world," he said. Hegseth also announced defense cooperation projects under the Partnership for Indo-Pacific Industrial Resilience (PIPIR) -- a US-initiated forum of 14 allies and partners. He said the first project is to establish repair capability and capacity for P-8 radar systems in Australia, which will enable US allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific operating the aircraft, including New Zealand and the Republic of Korea, to repair them within the region rather than relying on a single repair source in the US. Barcelona cuts ties with Israel over Gaza massacres
Shafaq News/ On Friday, Barcelona's city council voted to sever institutional relations with the Israeli government and suspend its friendship agreement with the city of Tel Aviv 'until international law is respected and the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people are guaranteed.' The decision, which includes around twenty measures, was supported by the ruling Socialist Party in Barcelona, several left-wing parties, and pro-independence groups. It calls for cutting institutional ties with the 'current Israeli government' and suspending the friendship pact signed on September 24, 1998, between Barcelona and Tel Aviv. Barcelona's Socialist mayor, Jaume Collboni, said the 'level of suffering and death witnessed in Gaza over the past year and a half, along with repeated Israeli government attacks in recent weeks, makes any relationship between the two cities unsustainable.' Among other measures included in the decision, some beyond the municipality's authority, the city council called on the board of the Barcelona trade fair to bar Israeli government pavilions, 'arms companies, or any sector benefiting from genocide, occupation, apartheid, and colonialism against the Palestinian people.' A similar recommendation is under consideration for the Port of Barcelona, advising it not to receive ships involved in transporting arms to Israel. SDF's Abdi: open to dialogue with Damascus over decentralization
Shafaq News/ On Friday, the commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, vowed that any integration of the SDF into the Syrian military must come as part of a comprehensive political agreement based on decentralization within a mutually accepted national framework. In an interview with Shams TV, Abdi said such a process could take years, rejecting what he described as quick or superficial solutions that fail to address the core of the Kurdish issue. 'We are committed to preserving our achievements and will not accept any arrangements that take us back to square one,' Abdi said. While acknowledging that Kurds have faced decades of marginalization, Abdi affirmed that they remain open to dialogue with Damascus. He stressed that the SDF is a fundamental part of Syria's future and added, 'We will not accept a repeat of the marginalization we have endured.' Earlier in March, Abdi and Syria's transitional President, Ahmad Al-Sharaa, reached an agreement to integrate the SDF into the country's official military structure, transferring all its territories, border crossings, and oil fields while rejecting any calls for division.
