Neon - (Saba):
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) announced on its official website the annual European Club Rankings for the 2024-25 season, which saw a change at the top.
Real Madrid climbed to first place in the rankings, surpassing former title holders Manchester City, who dropped to second.
Bayern Munich came in third, while Paris Saint-Germain, despite winning the Champions League this season, finished fifth in the rankings.
List of the top 10 clubs in the UEFA rankings until the end of the 2024-25 season:
Real Madrid (Spain) – 143,500 points
Manchester City (England) – 137,750 points
Bayern Munich (Germany) – 135,250 points
Liverpool (England) – 125,500 points
Paris Saint-Germain (France) – 118,500 points
Inter Milan (Italy) – 116,250 points
Chelsea (England) – 109,000 points
Borussia Dortmund (Germany) – 106,750 points
Roma (Italy) – 104,500 points
Barcelona (Spain) – 103,250 points
Russian clubs are still in the rankings despite the ongoing sanctions, with four Russian clubs among the top 200 European clubs:
Zenit St. St. Petersburg ranked 126th.
Spartak Moscow ranked 137th.
Lokomotiv Moscow ranked 157th.
Krasnodar ranked 188th.
It's worth noting that Russian clubs and national teams have been banned from participating in international tournaments organized by UEFA and FIFA since March 2022 due to sanctions.
However, Russian national teams continue to play friendly matches, which count towards their rankings, while Russian clubs do not have the same opportunity, negatively impacting their continental rankings.

Brazilian Rafinha wins La Liga player of year award

Madrid – Saba: La Liga announced on Friday that Brazilian Rafinha, a Barcelona player, won the La Liga Player of the Year Award for the 2024-25 season, after leading the Blaugrana to their 28th league title. Rafinha beat out teammates Lamine Yamal, Pedri, and Robert Lewandowski in the final vote, as well as Kylian Mbappé, Vinicius Junior, and Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), Isco (Real Betis), and Oyhan Sancet (Athletic Bilbao). The Catalan club had a fantastic season, and Rafinha played a key role in German coach Hansi Flick's team's success in reclaiming the league title from arch-rivals Real Madrid. He contributed 27 goals, scoring 18 and providing nine assists. The 28-year-old, who joined Barcelona in the 2022 season from Leeds United, finished sixth in the competition's top scorer list, which was edged out by Frenchman Kylian Mbappé with 31 goals. Barcelona, who won the domestic treble of La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup, dominated the league's awards, with Hansi Flick winning the Best Coach award and Lamine Yamal winning the Best Young Player award earlier this month. Leipzig, Wolfsburg Compete to Sign Coach Jacob Neestrup

Berlin – SABA: Media reports have revealed that German club RB Leipzig is interested in appointing Danish coach Jacob Neestrup as the team's new head coach. Neestrup, 37, is also reportedly a candidate for the managerial position at another Bundesliga club, VfL Wolfsburg. According to Kicker and Sport Bild newspapers on Tuesday, Leipzig's sporting director, Marcel Schäfer, has reached out to Neestrup. Leipzig, who failed to qualify for European competitions for the first time, is seeking a new manager to replace interim coach Zsolt Löw. Löw (46) had taken over after the sacking of Marco Rose in March. Rose has since returned to assist Jürgen Klopp in the sports management team of the Red Bull club group at the end of the season. Manchester City Looking to Sign 'Another Arab Star'

London – SABA: The British newspaper The Guardian has revealed that Manchester City is targeting Algerian defender Rayan Aït-Nouri of Wolverhampton Wanderers during the upcoming summer transfer window in the English Premier League. According to the report, the club has not yet submitted an official offer for the player, but he is considered a 'main target' by manager Pep Guardiola. The Spanish coach is eager to strengthen the left-back position this summer, especially after relying on center-back Joško Gvardiol and midfielder Niko Orellana in that role for most of last season—despite neither of them being natural left-backs.
