Metallica to rock 2025 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
Metallica will rock the 2025 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The heavy metal legends will play an after-race concert on Yas Island on December 6.
On December 3, meanwhile, James Hetfield and co will play their first-ever concert in Bahrain at Beyon Al Dana Amphitheatre.
Tickets to the show in Bahrain will be available via www.beyonaldana.com.bh, on Thursday, April 24.
The 'Nothing Else Matters' rockers first performed on Yas Island in 2011, and returned in 2013.
David Powell, chief strategy and business development officer at Ethara, organisers of the Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, commented "Metallica deliver life-changing shows. They are the perfect addition to the 2025 F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and Yasalam offering. Saturday will be a day not to miss for F1 and rock fans alike."
Meanwhile, Metallica are among the mighty metallers set to join Black Sabbath at their charity concert at Birmingham's Villa Park on July 5.
Ozzy is set to reunite with Sabbath members Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward for the first time in 20 years.
The Prince of Darkness will join the group for a select number of tracks, although his health issues - including Parkinson's disease - won't allow him to perform a full set.
Drummer Bill hasn't played with the group since 2005, having skipped 2013's comeback record '13' and their 'The End' tour eight years ago, due to a contract dispute.
As well as his old bandmates, the gig will also feature an all-star lineup also including the likes of Guns N' Roses, Slayer, Anthrax, and many more.

'The worrying thing is the unknown' Tony Iommi voices concerns over Black Sabbath farewell gig
Tony Iommi is "worried" about the "unknown" at Black Sabbath's last-ever show this summer. The Paranoid hitmakers are to bow out with a farewell gig at Birmingham's Villa Park, where the likes of Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Halestorm, Alice In Chains, and Lamb of God will also perform on July 5th. Tony admitted there are "so many other moving parts" to the upcoming spectacle, and he is also unsure whether Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne will be "standing or sitting on a throne" when he performs with the group. He told Music Week: "This would be a big, monumental thing if it all comes good. The worrying thing for me is the unknown. "We don't know what's going to happen. Normally, when we'd tour, we'd rehearse and run through the thing for a while, and it's just us. But with this event there are so many other moving parts. "You're used to Ozzy running around, but he certainly won't be doing that for this show. I don't know if he's going to be standing or sitting on a throne or what." In February, Ozzy - who has neck and spinal issues, as well as Parkinson's disease - insisted he isn't planning to do a full set with Sabbath, but reassured fans he is hoping to do "little bits and pieces" at their farewell show. Ozzy - who hasn't played a full show for six years - said on his SiriusXM show Ozzy Speaks: "I'm not planning on doing a set with Black Sabbath but I am doing little bits and pieces with them. I am doing what I can, where I feel comfortable." Speaking in February, he said: "I am trying to get back on my feet... When you get up in the morning, you just jump out of bed. I have to balance myself, but I'm not dead. I'm still actively doing things." Ozzy's wife Sharon Osbourne previously told how he was "overwhelmed" by the number of stars who want to be involved with the show. Speaking to Birmingham Live, she said: "I think it's the best metal gig ever. It's easy when you have such good friends and friends that support you. We've known these guys for years and years and many of them were passed the torch by Sabbath. "It goes down the line. When you need them, they come ... He's overwhelmed. He's very overwhelmed by the response of his friends. He said 'wow, they're doing this for me?' "When you've got your peers, and your friends with you, there's nothing bigger. Well, aside from fans, of course. They come first."

Why McLaren had to vet photos of Australian cricketers' meet-up with F1 star Oscar Piastri
When Oscar Piastri invited a handful of Australian cricketers to tour the McLaren factory outside London last week, insiders at the leading F1 team were in a spot of bother. The entire visit was kept under wraps, with all photos and videos from the day subjected to a strict vetting process by McLaren staff. In the high-stakes world of Formula 1, even a casual snap in the wrong place on the factory floor can pose a risk. With rivals like Red Bull and Ferrari always on the lookout for technical edges, McLaren's strict media control was designed to prevent any unintended leaks from inside its highly secretive Woking facility. Therefore images were carefully reviewed with officials on alert for any sensitive details pictured. But now, with clearance granted, the cricket-meets-F1 crossover has finally been made public. For 19-year-old rising Test star Sam Konstas, it was everything he dreamed of. The youngster couldn't believe how relaxed Piastri was, given his position atop the table in arguably the world's most high-pressure sport. 'He's 24. First in the Formula 1. I don't know how he deals with so much pressure on him,' Konstas said, as first reported by Code Sports. 'But full credit to him. 'He's a legend of a bloke. He's a massive cricket fan. Having a bit of time with him was a huge honour.' Piastri gave the Australians a guided tour of the McLaren HQ and even demonstrated a few hot laps on the team's simulator. 'It was a great experience – obviously witnessing all those amazing cars,' Konstas said. 'We actually jumped on the driving simulator and Oscar was driving a few laps and he showed us how it was done.' While Usman Khawaja and Nathan Lyon kept things steady in the sim, Mitchell Starc was the surprise outlier — clocking the fastest virtual lap among the group. Konstas wasn't quite so confident in his ability behind the wheel. 'I was terrible. I was crashing all the time. It was good fun. I was definitely the worst one,' he laughed. 'Usman Khawaja was like a little kid. We were trying to get him off and he just kept playing.' Lyon, who has kept in regular contact with Piastri in recent years, joked about the need for discretion after seeing what McLaren had behind closed doors. 'The facilities that they have and the way they go about it is pretty phenomenal,' Lyon said. 'I don't know how much I can say, Red Bull might be listening.'

Brad Pitt: Motorsport fans are a big part of F1 film
Brad Pitt craved the approval of motorsport fans while filming F1. The 61-year-old actor plays a Formula One driver in the new racing film, and Brad admits that having the support of sports fans means "everything" to him. He told 'Extra': "If we didn't pass their bar, than we were dead, you know? "And to get that kind of, I don't know, response means a lot to us, because we have, again, so much respect for these drivers, for this sport, for everyone, the teams, everything they put into it. They made the movie too. They're a big part of the film." Brad was always confident that the Joseph Kosinski-directed movie would win over the sceptics. He explained: "I felt pretty confident in what we have. "You know, I feel like we successfully thread this needle that's for longtime fans that really understand the sport as well as newcomers, and they understood that was our goal, and, I don't know, I think they had fun too. I think it's just fun. It's really good fun." Brad actually shot some scenes at the Silverstone racing circuit in the UK. And the Hollywood icon admitted to feeling anxious when he walked on the track at the British Grand Prix. Brad shared: "We had been, like, rehearsing there for a few weeks, so it kind of felt like it was home. "But then when the whole race movement comes in it's such a juggernaut of a is really awe-inspiring, and then to get on the track with 100,000 fans, I was a little bit nervous. "Actually, no, it was a high. Like, sitting waiting it was, once you get going, it's a high. It's a high." Brad has enjoyed a hugely successful career in the movie business, starring in films such as The Big Short, Ocean's Eleven, and Troy. And he admits that F1 has helped to reinvigorate him. Brad said: "Doing this this long and to find something that was almost like starting over, it was so full of passion and it gave me a feeling like I've never had before. It was just sublime. I'm pretty grateful for Joe Kosinski for coming up with this."
