Where are you? Mum's heartfelt plea as drones are drafted in for teenager hunt

Daily Mail19-05-2025

Drones are being drafted in to help with the search of a missing teenager who vanished more than a fortnight ago.
Cole Cooper disappeared after a night out on May 4 in Longcroft, Falkirk, and the last reported sighting of him was three days later in the village's Glasgow Road area.
In a heartfelt plea, his mother Wendy Stewart yesterday begged her son to 'come home' as drone operators were urged to apply for permission to fly in Cumbernauld Airport's flight restriction zone so they can widen the search.
A social media page set up by the family to provide updates about the hunt for the 19-year-old asks for drone owners to get in touch with the airport so they could search between Longcroft and Banknock.
Ms Stewart, meanwhile, begged her son to 'please come home'.
She said: 'I love and miss you so so so much. Where are you son? My heart is breaking I just want a big cuddle from you son'.
The worried mother also posted a touching video of Mr Cooper singing into a microphone and dancing with her, with the caption 'Please help get my gorgeous, kind loving boy back to me'.
Police Scotland last week revealed that the most recent sighting of the teenager was around 7pm on May 7, although the last confirmed CCTV sighting of him was on May 4.
Mr Cooper went missing in the early hours of that morning after heading to a house party around 3am.
Footage captured him walking along Nisbet Drive in Denny at 4.59am, before appearing at his father's home in Mayfield Drive, Longcroft, at 5.49am. When his father failed to answer, Mr Cooper left.
In other footage, he was then seen jogging along Cumbernauld Road shortly before 6am, looking over his shoulder as he ran.
His aunt Aimee Tennie tried to encourage the teenager to meet up with her, giving him a place and time, saying: 'Cole I'm hoping you're out there somewhere reading this...... I hope you come to me for help. You're honestly so loved and our lives have been turned upside down by all of this.'
But he never showed and with no new sightings, she wrote yesterday: 'In our guts we know you aren't out there running about and avoiding making contact with us or your friends.
'All we can hope for is that anyone that has information on where you are, does the right thing and comes forward.'
Mr Cooper, who is described as 5ft 10in, of medium build with short brown hair, is known to frequent the Denny, Cumbernauld and Paisley areas.
He was last seen wearing a black puffer-style jacket with black jogging bottoms.
Inspector Neil Wotherspoon said they were 'increasingly concerned' for the teen's welfare and have carried out extensive enquiries in the area with specialist resources.
He added: 'We would ask anyone who has seen him, or knows where he might be to get in touch. I would also like to appeal to Cole himself to contact family, friends or our officers.'

New appeal launched a week after police officer seriously injured in crash

A fresh appeal for information has been launched a week after a police officer was seriously injured in a car crash in Buckinghamshire. Pc Christopher Miller sustained life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital in a critical condition, after the incident on the B416 Bells Hill at around 10.20pm on May 22. Thames Valley Police carried out checks with drivers at the scene of the crash on Thursday to ask if they saw anything on the night of the incident. Senior investigating officer, Detective Superintendent Will Crowther said: 'Last night we carried out checks with drivers on the B416 Bells Hill, a week on from the scene of the road traffic collision that left Pc Christopher Miller with life-threatening injuries. 'We spoke to a number of motorists travelling along the route to ask if they recall seeing anything on the evening of 22 May. 'I want to use this opportunity to continue to appeal to anyone who has information or footage from the area but is yet to contact the force to please come forward. 'The vehicle involved was a white BMW, which will have been damaged after the incident. 'We are keen to understand where the white BMW was before and after the incident, so if you saw the vehicle or anyone in the vehicle, please contact us. 'If you saw any other vehicles that caught your attention in the area that night we would also be keen to hear from you. 'If you have any information or footage from the area then please contact us via our website or by calling 101, quoting investigation number 43250252869. 'I appreciate that sometimes people don't want to speak directly to police. 'Therefore, if you want to remain anonymous you can still provide information via independent charity Crimestoppers. 'They have a website where you can leave information or you can call them on 0800 555 111.' Deputy Chief Constable Ben Snuggs said: 'Thames Valley Police has been shocked by the news of Pc Christopher Miller being seriously injured while carrying out his duties as a police officer. 'Pc Miller's family continue to be supported by our specially trained family liaison officers. 'Everyone within the force is thinking of Pc Miller, his family and colleagues within our Roads Policing Unit. 'As a force, we continue to support each other through this difficult time.' Boy rescued from Thames in stable condition as search for girl continues

A boy rescued from the River Thames is in a stable condition as the search for a missing girl continues, police said. A search was launched after two children got into trouble in the water near the Royal Terrace Pier, Gravesend, on Friday afternoon. Kent Police were called by the Port of London Authority at 1.46pm on Friday to 'concerns for the welfare of two children who had entered the river' at Royal Pier Road, Gravesend, a force spokesman said. Emergency services were called and a search was launched, leading to a boy being pulled out of the river. He was taken to a local hospital where his condition was 'not described to be life-threatening', police said. Kent Police's marine unit and the Coastguard resumed their search of the water and river bank on Saturday.

Hate crime declared as 'disgusting' antisemitic graffiti appears in Dundee city centre

'Sinister' antisemitic graffiti written on a Dundee city centre poster is being treated as a hate crime. The vandalism was discovered on Tuesday May 20 in the Arctic Pend tunnel, which connects New Inn Entry to the High Street and gives access to the Keiller Centre. Vandals targeted a poster, which has the message 'It can't be terrible forever' written on it. Beneath the message they had written: 'Only kicking out the Jews will make things better.' The bottom part of the poster containing the message has now been ripped off. Police say they are treating the incident as a hate crime. Cllr Fraser Macpherson, the Lib Dem group leader on Dundee City Council, said 'Dundee has always been an inclusive city, welcoming to all, and Dundonians will agree with me that any racist and antisemitic graffiti is disgusting and totally unacceptable.' He added: 'It is a criminal offence and a hate crime and Police Scotland moved fast to put out an appeal for anyone who witnessed this taking place to contact them. 'I have raised this dreadful graffiti with the council's environment management to ensure it gets removed.' Mayfield councillor Lynne Short (SNP) said: 'There has been a proliferation of graffiti appearing in the city centre recently. 'Most of it is senseless and mindless. 'But this one is disgusting. 'We shouldn't be in a situation where any race, creed or colour should be brought into anything – least of all, street graffiti.' 'This is not mindless graffiti, or people just passing the time of day. 'This is more sinister. 'It's targeted and it is not right.' Police have appealed for witnesses to the vandalism to come forward. PC Rebecca Cantwell from the city centre policing team said: 'Due to the nature of this graffiti, we are treating this act as a hate crime. 'Our enquiries are ongoing, and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us.' Police have urged anyone with any information to contact 101 and to quote incident number CR/0211555/25. Members of the public can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
