Youth urged to donate blood to build blood-secure society
Kadiri: On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, a blood donation camp was organised at the Government Area Hospital in Kadiri under the supervision of medical staff.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from various youth and social organisations. Members from Akhil Bharatiya Chiranjeevi Yuvatha, Ram Charan Yuva Shakti State Team, Red Plus, Sri Khadri Lakshmi Narasimha Seva Samithi, KEK Foundation, and the Friends2Support team voluntarily donated blood as part of the initiative.
Local MLA Kandikunta Venkata Prasad, Revenue Divisional Officer VVN Sharma, DM&HO Firoza Begum, and the Municipal Commissioner attended as chief guests and appreciated the donors and organisers.
They presented certificates of appreciation to those who have donated blood multiple times through various voluntary organisations.
The MLA stated that youth should actively participate in blood donation to ensure a blood-shortage-free progressive society, and expressed hope that this message would inspire more youth to step forward.

Blood donors felicitated in Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli
In observance of World Blood Donor day, Minister of Social Welfare and Women Empowerment P. Geetha Jeevan has honoured 26 donors with certificates and medals at an event organised in Thoothukudi Government Medical College and Hospital. Speaking at the event Ms. Geetha Jeevan said, 'World Blood Donor day is celebrated every year. This year the program is being organised at the hospital to recognise and honour the persons who donated blood thrice or more than that in a year. It aims to raise awareness among youth about the importance of blood donation, which can save countless lives.' As part of the event, she also flagged off a rally at the hospital to promote awareness on blood donation. Thoothukudi Collector K. Elambahavath, Dean G. Sivakumar, Resident Medical Officer Silas Jeyamani, doctors, nurses, students and other staff were present. In Tirunelveli, District Collector R. Sukumar honoured the donors at the event organised at Tirunelveli Medical College and Hospital. At the event he highlighted that in the Tirunelveli district alone, a total of 11,039 units of blood were collected in the past year and 23,352 blood components were provided to underprivileged patients receiving treatment at the hospital. He added that the blood components collected were extensively used in treating anaemia among pregnant women, injury related trauma cases, cancer patients and those undergoing surgical procedures. Tirunelveli Government Medical College and Hospital Dean Revathi Balan, along with other doctors and medical staff participated in the event.

Andhra Pradesh Health Minister calls for regular blood donation
GUNTUR: Health Minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav on Saturday urged the youth to regularly donate blood to address shortages. Speaking at World Blood Donor Day celebrations organised by the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) in Guntur, the minister highlighted that despite technological advancements, there is no substitute for human blood. He commended the Red Cross for its crucial role in supplying safe and quality blood, especially during emergencies. The minister noted that 20 blood centres in the State currently meet 20% of Andhra Pradesh's total blood requirements by supplying approximately one lakh units annually. On the occasion, AP Red Cross Society State Chairman YD Rama Rao outlined plans for more transfusion centres and free HPV vaccination programmes for girls. General Secretary AK Parida announced 'Mee Intiki Mee Doctor,' a major outreach initiative bringing medical care to seven new districts with support from REC Limited. The event concluded with the presentation of Karl Landsteiner Awards, pioneer of blood transfusion, ceremony.

Governor presents ‘Best Service' award to Wanaparthy man
Wanaparthy: 'The services of Yuvashakti Foundation are remarkable,' said Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day celebrations at Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad on Saturday. The Governor presented 'Best Service Award' to Kagitala Madhu, the Founder-President of Yuvashakti Foundation on the day. Madhu, hailing from Khilla Ghanpur Mandal in Wanaparthy district, has been spreading awareness about blood donation among youth through WhatsApp groups across the state. He has inspired many by voluntarily organising blood donations round the clock for over 30,000 people across Telangana, becoming a role model for many. Kagitala Madhu shared his happiness at receiving the award, stating that it would inspire him to do even more service in the days to come. He dedicated the award to the people of his native village Khilla Ghanpur, the people of Wanaparthy district, and the Yuvashakti Foundation family working across the state. Speaking on the occasion, he said, 'Being born as a human is not great, but donating blood in times of emergency and saving lives is truly great.' He urged healthy young men and women to come forward and donate blood. He expressed gratitude to everyone who has donated blood so far through the Yuvashakti Foundation and to everyone who has supported the foundation.
