Beyoncé's Flying Car Prop Malfunctions Mid-Air During Houston Stop of Cowboy Carter Tour
Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter Tour returned to the States after its first European leg in the singer's hometown of Houston, Texas. Her homecoming ended with a scare as her flying red convertible stage piece started to tilt as it floated her around the stadium in her penultimate tour number, "16 Carriages".
The car prop is covered in what appears to be a red, suede-like fabric in the cockpit, where the singer is seated. The undercarriage is exposed to the fans below, and the front and back feature a chrome grill and bumper, lights, and a license plate that reads "BNCNTRY" attached. It's often referred to as a Cadillac, but it has no identifying features.
One Houston concertgoer, Christina Shane, told Road & Track that she thought the tilting of the convertible was being done intentionally.
"You could see the angle of the car tilting as she was moving," Shane said. "At first I thought it was intentional, like side-saddling a horse."
As the 43-year-old singer circled the crowd, she sang the lyrics to the second single off the Grammy-winning country album, before stopping the performance by repeating 'Stop' until she was safely lowered to the ground.
Beyoncé's management company, Parkwood Entertainment, released a statement on their Instagram Story, assuring that no one was injured following the prop malfunction.
"Tonight in Houston, at NRG Stadium, a technical mishap caused the flying car, a prop Beyoncé uses to circle the stadium and see her fans up close, to tilt," the statement read. She was quickly lowered, and no one was injured. The show continued without incident."
Following the show, Beyoncé included a photo of the tilted convertible as the final slide of her Instagram post, likely the prop will return for the final five shows.
Houston is the third-to-last stop of the tour, with only dates in Washington D.C. and Atlanta remaining after this weekend.
While she was still suspended, fans from certain angles could see the star calm herself as the car was slowly lowered and returned to the stage. She finished the song and the finale piece from the stage after telling her fans, "If I ever fall, I know y'all would catch me."
Beyoncé's 'Cowboy Carter' car is the second car to be featured prominently on a stadium tour this year, with Kendrick Lamar using his modified Grand National, first debuted at this year's Super Bowl as a set piece on his Grand National Tour.

'I've been covering technology for over 20 years and I can't recall the anticipation for a product like this has.' Berman, meanwhile, has clearly been bedazzled by Apple's ad campaign, telling Levy: 'I consider myself at least of average intelligence, but they're in my head. Apple is in my head. Must get iPhone. 'Supernatural' Star Was Nearly Cast as Superman originally appeared on Parade. Actor Jensen Ackles, best known for his roles in Supernatural and The Boys, is opening up about his decades-long career in the entertainment industry. While speaking to Collider for a June 25 interview, Ackles shared he was nearly cast as Clark Kent, AKA Superman, for the teen drama Smallville, which ran for 10 seasons until 2011. Ultimately, the iconic role went to Tom Welling. 'I would shock you if I told you how many jobs I didn't get compared to the ones I did get," said Ackles to the publication. 'I never felt discouraged by the ones that I didn't get. Again, this kind of goes back to lessons that I learned from the veterans. I went in and there was a wonderfully handsome guy. And I was like, 'I think this guy is a real actor.' It was Jensen. Who ended up being Clark's football coach," said Welling on his podcast. While recording a March 2024 interview on the Talk Ville podcast, Kristin Kreuk, who played Lana Lang, spoke about being Ackles' on-screen love interest during Smallville Season 4. "It was so fun. I was watching it now and Jensen has such an easy kind of chill, like, he's just so cool. And so his performances are really free and natural.
