Maje x Hot Wheels launches to "capture the cultural momentum of motorsport"

SMCP 's Maje label has unveiled an interesting new 'adrenaline-fuelled' summer collaboration, which will launch next month.
The premium French fashion brand has linked up with the global toy and media brand Hot Wheels for what we're told is a 'bold, high-impact wardrobe that redefines femininity with power and audacity'.
The label said that 'Parisian elegance collides with the electrifying energy of the racetrack in a collection where a pleated mini skirt and crop top, a denim jacket, a hoodie, T-shirts, and a cardigan reinterpret the graphic codes of motorsports. A statement style designed to bring thrills, attitude, and a striking contrast to everyday dressing'.
Each piece incorporates racing-inspired elements like graphic stripes, bold colour blocking, and emblematic logos.
The capsule will be available online on 3 June and in-store exactly a week later.
It's certainly an unexpected collab from a womenswear label such as Maje. So what's the thinking behind it?
The company said it launches 'amid Formula 1's continued global rise, with record-breaking viewership and a forthcoming feature film starring Brad Pitt'and it 'captures the cultural momentum of motorsport, as it expands beyond the track into fashion and lifestyle'.
And it added that 'beyond its nostalgic appeal', the Maje x Hot Wheels link-up 'is a reflection on movement and transformation, reflecting a shared commitment to bold design, innovation, and a forward-thinking vision'.

Gaming fans bring electric energy to Rotterdam as TwitchCon arrives

The Dutch city is hosting TwitchCon this weekend -- the annual event run by United States streaming giant Twitch -- where fans can meet their favourite creators and join the celebrations. "I started during the lockdown and I just really like to put on the live stream while I'm working on cosplays or other things," said Larissa, a 24-year-old Dutch woman, who came to meet the creator of the fantasy characters that inspire her. This is Larissa's second TwitchCon, and for the occasion, she is dressed as a half-cyborg, half-minotaur creature with green skin and bright red eyes. "I've been meeting a lot of cool people here, especially when you're in cosplay. People recognize the cosplay and are like, oh, that's the same series I really like. So then you have also something to talk about already." Electric energy Like Larissa, thousands of fans from across Europe turned out to meet their favourite creators and watch live e-sports events including Fortnite and Elden Ring, staged by Twitch celebrities. "Most of the work that happens on Twitch is online, it's digital," said Mary Kish, a marketing director at Twitch. "You're streaming with other people, you're hanging out with your community for many hours a week. "What happens at TwitchCon is the culmination of all of that goodwill and all of that joy in person at a con, and the energy is electric," said the 39-year-old, who is from the United States. French streamers JL Tomy and Etoiles -- who have 1.3 million and 1.2 million followers -- were also among those in attendance. "It's fun because there are lots of other partner streamers who are like me," said JL Tomy, 28, whose real name is Toma Abdellaoui. "I'm very much a homebody," said the streamer, whose content focuses on GTA, Valorant, League of Legends and e-sports competitions. Acquired by Amazon in 2014 for roughly $842 million, Twitch is the world's leading streaming platform for gaming, with more than 2.5 million hourly viewers on average. While gaming remains core to Twitch since its 2011 debut, the platform has broadened its reach, drawing in entertainment, sports and political figures, as well as livestreaming other major events. Kish said that Twitch's "Just Chatting" category is now its largest non-gaming segment. "There is a massive variety of other people doing other things. Like food and drink, where people are cooking... people who are showing their aquariums in their houses," Kish said. Reflecting that diversity, visitors attended theatre workshops, built Lego models, or watched the annual Drag Queen show, a TwitchCon staple. TwitchCon's next North American edition is scheduled for October 17–19, 2025, in San Diego.

Pharrell visits English country garden in Louis Vuitton men Spring 2026 pre-collection

Tally ho chaps! Louis Vuitton men takes a jaunt around an English country garden, a surprise twist in the house's Spring/Summer 2026 pre-collection, the first images of which were released Friday. It's a first retreat into rural England by Louis Vuitton's American-born men's creative director Pharrell Williams, blending sartorial coats, urban dandyism and countryside classics in a novel departure. 'Through this chemistry, the genetics of the enduring country dandy splice with those of the contemporary city dandy in expressions accelerated by the Parisian savoir-faire of the house,' noted the Paris-based house in a communiqué. The looks come a little more than three weeks before Pharrell will stage his fourth collection for Louis Vuitton, scheduled for the opening evening of Tuesday, June 24 - the first day of Paris' menswear catwalk season, due to run to Sunday, June 29. This new pre-collection is divided into two halves: the great garden outdoors, contrasted by good times inside a storied country house. On the outside super monogram suede jerkins or blousons, and white hiking socks in Damier print, worn with hiking boots or thick-soled hiking loafers. For evening, stand outs feature heraldic print silk shirts; a purple Prince of Wales track pant and top; and country squire micro-check blazers worn with crepe wool shorts. Instead of LV's signature burnt umber and light beige, many bags come in hunter green and faded gold. WASPS, as Gordon Gekko drily noted, love animals but cannot stand people. And that Anglo love of animals is seen in a monogram dog carriers; dog collars; ceramic water bowls; dog jackets and even a monogram bag made as large as a life-sized pointer. 'The fusion materializes in the cultural exchange of wardrobe genres driven by the LVERS ideology that drives the studio prêt-à-porter homme: the mindset of a diverse global community bound together by the creativity, quality and discernment symbolized in the iconography of Louis Vuitton,' concluded Vuitton. Think Gosford Park for 21st century groovers.
