Community celebrates Russia High School's first boys basketball state championship
A local community celebrated after its high school won the first boys basketball state championship on Saturday.

Russia High School completed a perfect season Saturday beating Willoughby Cornerstone Christian, 74-57, in the Division VII state title game at UD Arena.
Braylon Cordonnier had 22 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals to lead the Raiders.

The Russia Local School District posted a video on social media that showed fire trucks escorting the team bus back into town Saturday night.
The district also posted a video of fireworks being shot into the sky.
'Congratulations, boys, and especially to the 11 seniors on an amazing season!! Proud to be a Raider!!!' the school said.
This was the program's first-ever undefeated season and the 1,000th win for the boys basketball program.

Former NFL player Adam ‘Pacman' Jones arrested in Kentucky
Police in Kentucky arrested former NFL player Adam 'Pacman' Jones. Action News Jax's Ohio station, WHIO-TV, reports Jones was booked into the Kenton County Jail early Saturday morning. Jones, who is from Atlanta, faces charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct in the second degree and assault on a police officer in the third degree, according to the jail records. Police have not said what led to the charges. Advertisement This is at least the third arrest within the past two years for Jones, who has a history of legal issues. WHIO-TV reported Jones was arrested at the Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Airport (CVG) in 2023 for alcohol intoxication, terroristic threatening, and disorderly conduct. He later pleaded guilty to one count of disorderly conduct in December 2023. Arlington, Texas police arrested Jones back in November after officers said he got into a fight near AT&T Stadium after the Mike Tyson-Jake Paul boxing match, the Athletic reported. Jones played 13 years in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans, Dallas Cowboys, Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos. Legendary DeKalb basketball coach accused of spanking players
A longtime high school basketball coach is out of a job after allegations he spanked some of his players with his shoe. Channel 2's Tom Jones reported Columbia High School's former head basketball coach, Dr. Phillip McCrary, is out of a job. Video believed to have led to the end of McCrary's employment with DeKalb County Schools was shared by a parent of a former player who is no longer at the school. She asked not to be identified for fear of retaliation. 'When I saw the video, I was heartbroken,' she said. 'I was heartbroken because we trusted this man.' She says the video shows McCrary telling a player to lower his pants in a hotel room while the team was in the Bahamas for a tournament in November. Advertisement She says the coach then hits the player forcibly on his backside with his shoe several times. 'Then he says, 'Why is it happening?' And then the young man said, 'Because I invited a girl up to the room,' the mother said. She says another player was also hit with the shoe. Jones went to McCrary's home and asked if he had a second to talk. McCrary said no. Jones asked if he had a comment but didn't get a response. A spokesperson for the school district said they couldn't comment on personnel matters and said the safety of students is its highest priority. She went on to say McCrary is no longer employed by the district as of Monday. Advertisement This mother says letting him go is the right decision. 'That's humiliating. It's not OK,' she said. The mother says after her son left the school recently, he felt empowered to come forward about what happened. She says he was in that room and the incident took a toll on his mental health.
