
Karnataka Bank top officials resign
Bengaluru, June 29 (UNI) The Board of Directors of Karnataka Bank today formally accepted the resignation of its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Srikrishnan Hari Hara Sarma, effective July 15.
Sarma cited personal reasons, including a decision to relocate to Mumbai, for stepping down from his post.
In another major development, the Bank's Executive Director, Sekhar Rao, has also tendered his resignation citing his inability to relocate to the Bank's headquarters in Mangaluru along with other personal considerations. His resignation will take effect on July 31.
Following these developments, the Bank has constituted a Search Committee tasked with identifying suitable candidates for both the MD & CEO and Executive Director positions.
To ensure operational continuity, Karnataka Bank has appointed a senior banker as its Chief Operating Officer (COO), who will assume charge on July two.
The Bank also informed that necessary substitute arrangements are being undertaken, subject to regulatory approval.
Addressing queries related to the Emphasis of Matter included in the Auditor's Report for FY2024-25, the Bank clarified that the issue had been discussed and amicably resolved.
Reassuring its stakeholders, the Bank reiterated its financial strength, stating it remains well-capitalised and stable.
'The transformational journey initiated by the Bank will continue unhindered,' the official statement added.

RailOne App launched: One-stop solution for all passenger services
New Delhi, July 1 (UNI) Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday launched the user-friendly RailOne app at an event here to mark the 40th Foundation Day of the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS). The app aims to enhance passenger travel experience by providing a single platform for various railway services, a Ministry statement said. RailOne is a user-friendly, all-in-one application that integrates several services for railway passengers. Available for download on both Android and iOS platforms, the app offers features such as making unreserved bookings and purchase of platform tickets with a three per cent discount, live train tracking, grievance redressal, e-catering, porter booking, and last-mile taxi services, it added. However, reserved tickets will continue to be available on the IRCTC platform. The app also includes a single-sign-on feature, allowing users to log in using mPIN or biometric authentication, it supports existing RailConnect and UTS credentials, ensuring ease of access. As per the statement, Minister Vaishnaw also praised the CRIS team for its efforts in upgrading the Passenger Reservation System (PRS). The new PRS, he said, will be more agile, scalable, and capable of handling 10 times the current load. It will support 1.5 lakh ticket bookings and 40 lakh enquiries per minute, and will also offer advanced features such as seat selection, fare calendar, and integrated services for Divyangjan, students, and patients, said the statement. Union Cabinet approves employment scheme to boost job generation
New Delhi, July 1 (UNI) The Union Cabinet today approved Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) Scheme for Rs 1.07 lakh crore with an aim to boost job generation, enhance employability and social security across all sectors, with special focus on the manufacturing sector in the country. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said in a media briefing here after the Cabinet meeting: 'Under the Scheme, while the first-time employees will get one month's wage (up to Rs 15,000), the employers will be given incentives for a period to two years for generating additional employment, with extended benefits for another two years for the manufacturing sector.' The ELI Scheme was announced in the Union Budget 2024-25 to generate formal employment by offering financial support to both employers and first-time employees. To avail the benefits, employees must enrol in EPFO and meet Aadhaar-bank seeding requirements. With an outlay of Rs 99,446 crore, the ELI Scheme aims to incentivize the creation of more than 3.5 crore jobs in the country, over a period of 2 years. Out of these, 1.92 Crore beneficiaries will be first timers, entering the workforce. The benefits of the scheme would be applicable to jobs created between August 1, 2025 and July, 31, 2027, later said a statement released here by the Union Cabinet. The scheme, it said, will also promote formalisation of the country's workforce by extending social security coverage for crores of young men and women. UNI AJ PRS
