Spurs' Jeremy Sochan Reveals New Jump Shot, Draws Comparisons to Knicks' Star originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
While the NBA offseason is ripe with trade rumors and draft speculation, it is also one of the only times of year when established players can work on their games. The San Antonio Spurs, it seems, are spending their summers in the gym for the most part.

While Victor Wembanyama spends his summer with Chinese monks, Jeremy Sochan is traveling the world to prepare for EuroBasket, where he will be representing Poland.
In San Antonio, the players who stayed in town are in the gym "two and a half hours every day," according to Blake Wesley. While Sochan isn't with the team, he is spending the summer working on the weakest part of his game: 3-point shooting.
Sochan is an elite defender, a capable facilitator, an underrated ball-handler, and an excellent rebounder, especially on the offensive glass. However, over three NBA seasons, he has shot only 29 percent from 3-point range on limited attempts.
This summer, in gyms around the world, Sochan has made improving his shot a priority, and based on empty-gym footage, he's finding some success.
Sochan has tucked in his elbows, removed the hitch from his shot to an extent, and seems to be getting the ball more up instead of out. It's a basic improvement, although if he can be a servicable shooter next season, he could emerge as one of the best two-way players in the league instead of just a defensive specialist.

With the high release point, slight hitch, and tucked elbows, Sochan looks a bit like Mikal Bridges, who also transformed his shot last summer.
In his first six seasons in the league, Bridges shot 37.5 percent from deep. Last summer, he altered his shot to look a bit more like Sochan's current form, and dipped to 35.4 percent, the lowest mark since his rookie season.
While 35.4 percent is a clear regression for Bridges, it would be a massive improvement for Sochan. The league average last season was an even 36 percent, and if Sochan can sniff that number, there's no reason for him not to crack the starting lineup as a capable scorer and excellent defender.
Bridges is far and away from an elite offensive player, although he was the fourth-leading scorer on one of the best teams in the NBA, and Sochan has a runway to be just as good, provided his training carries over into the regular season.

LeBron James Reacts to Kevin Durant's Announcement

LeBron James Reacts to Kevin Durant's Announcement originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant is expected to be traded this offseason. A 15-time NBA All-Star, Durant was part of a star trio in Phoenix that included Bradley Beal and Devin Booker. But this group failed to win a playoff game in two seasons together, and missed the 2025 postseason entirely. Advertisement Durant has been linked to several teams this offseason, with the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat being the three on his preferred list (via ESPN). As these rumors continue to circulate, Durant made an off the court announcement earlier this week with Boardroom, his co-owned media network. "Kevin Durant, PSG and Boardroom just dropped a capsule that bridges D.C. and Paris in style," the post began. "... Magic Johnson goes viral after giving his definition of a superstar

If there is someone who knows what it means to be a superstar, it's Magic Johnson. The Spartan legend was one of the biggest stars the NBA has ever seen, leading the 'Showtime' Lakers to five NBA Championships and winning three NBA MVP awards along with an Olympic Gold Medal as part of the Dream Team, the most famous US basketball Olympic squad. On Friday, Magic Johnson made some major waves on the internet, when he was on ESPN's First Take across from Stephen A. Smith. Smith asked Magic Johnson to define a superstar for him, a topic that is infamously debated quite often on the program. Advertisement Magic gave a concise answer: 'Someone who can go on the road and sell the building out.' You can watch the full clip below: I think this one is up for debate. I think this statement probably was more applicable before the days of League Pass and expanded TV deals for the NBA where you couldn't turn on your TV and see these guys play every night, but that's just my opinion. Brooklyn Nets jersey history No. 20 - Ed Johnson (1969-72)

The Brooklyn Nets have 52 jersey numbers worn by over 600 different players over the course of their history since the franchise was founded in 1967 as a charter member of the American Basketball Association (ABA), when the team was known as the "New Jersey Americans". Since then, that league has been absorbed by the NBA with the team that would later become the New York Nets and New Jersey Nets before settling on the name by which they are known today, bringing their rich player and jersey history with them to the league of today. To commemorate the players who played for the Nets over the decades wearing those 52 different jersey numbers, Nets Wire is covering the entire history of the franchise's jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team. The 21st of those 52 different numbers is jersey No. 20, which has has had a total of 28 players wear the number in the history of the team. The fourth of those players wearing No. 20 played in the (then) New York (now, Brooklyn) Nets era, big man alum Ed Johnson. After ending his college career at Tennessee State, Johnson was picked up with the 34th overall selection of the 1968 NBA draft by the Seattle SuperSonics. The Atlanta, Georgia native would play the first season of his pro career with the (defunct) Los Angeles Stars in the ABA, and was dealt to New York in 1969. His stay with the team would span parts of two seasons, coming to an end when he was traded again, this time to the (also defunct) Texas Chaparrals in 1972. During his time suiting up for the Nets, Johnson wore only jersey No. 20 and put up 13.1 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. All stats and data courtesy of Basketball Reference.
