Benny Scarf's wild punting exploits across social media given green light by betting regulator
THE viral social media punting exploits of Benny Scarf have been given the green light to continue, following an investigation by Liquor & Gaming NSW.
The betting regulator recently conducted an inquiry into Scarf's social media wagering activity which also delved into his relationship with bookmakers.
Boasting more than 220,000 followers across his social media platforms, Scarf's major betting plays, and the jovial videos that accompany them, continue to generate significant engagement and break new ground, particularly in the 18-35 male demographic.
And it was that growing interest - and the sizable nature of the bets being placed at retail TAB outlets - which led Liquor & Gaming NSW to conduct an inquiry to ensure the activity 'complies with NSW betting and racing laws'.
'Liquor & Gaming NSW recently engaged with Mr. Ben Scarf to ensure his social media and website content complies with legal requirements regarding gambling harm minimisation messages,' a spokesperson for the organisation said.
'No enforcement action is being taken at this time.
'Liquor & Gaming NSW will continue to monitor online wagering advertising, including publications on social media, to ensure it complies with NSW betting and racing laws.'
Scarf, who as well as being a content creator has his own tipping website, includes affiliate links to bookmakers Dabble and Bet Right across his social media channels, which all serve as revenue drivers.
In an interview with The Australian last October, Scarf said 'the overwhelming majority of my pay comes from sign-ups' and that the intrigue around where the money comes from 'does nothing but boost my profile so I keep it up in the air which just adds to the theatre of it.'
Scarf's video content, which is growing by the day, has attracted tens of millions of views since launching in April last year.

Kiwi trotters back in force for 2025 Inter Dominion harness racing series
Young Kiwi trotting star Bet N Win is leading the charge to wind back the clock. For a long time the Kiwis 'owned' the Inter Dominion trotting series, winning 18 of the 23 finals from Yankee Loch in 1989 to I Can Doosit in 2012. Champions like Lyell Creek (2000), Pride Of Petite (1996 & '97), Take A Moment (2001 & '03) and I Can Doosit (2011 & '11) led the New Zealand dominance. But the ride has turned in recent years with Aussies winning five of the past six finals. • PUNT LIKE A PRO: Become a Racenet iQ member and get expert tips – with fully transparent return on investment statistics – from Racenet's team of professional punters at our Pro Tips section. SUBSCRIBE NOW! It's been due to pandemic and a date change causing less Kiwi interest in the great race, but also by the dominance of Australia's champion Just Believe, who won the crown in 2022 and 2023. But the Kiwis are back in force for this revamped and enriched Brisbane series, which starts on Saturday week and culminates with a $500,000 final at Albion Park on July 19. While there are only two Kiwis in the trotting series, they are two of the biggest players in Bet N Win and Oscar Bonavena. And both have already snared wins in Australia in the build-up. Oscar Bonavena won brilliantly at Albion Park last Saturday week, then ran some sparkling closing times to finish a close second at the same track last night. Bet N Win, who only arrived in Australia last Tuesday, opened his campaign when he hardly raised to a sweat to cruise to victory at Menangle last night. Bet N Win NZ dominates the Ainsworth - Trotters Mobile.ðŸ'¥ðŸ¥‡ The New Zealand visitor trained by David and Stacey White and driven by Bob Butt trotted to victory by 5.9 metres in a mile rate of 1.58.6 over the 2300 metres. Congratulations.ðŸ' — Club Menangle (@ClubMenangle) June 21, 2025 They are trying to become the first Kiwi to win the Inter Dominion trotting crown since Winterfell did with the home ground advantage in the 2019 Auckland series. The last Kiwi to win the final in Australia was I Can Doosit at the now defunct Moonee Valley track way back in 2012. Bet N Win and Oscar Bonavena make for a fascinating contrast, but little separates their chances in Brisbane. Bet N Win in the young buck, a five-year-old who has raced just 23 times for 13 wins. Oscar Bonavena is most likely in his last year of racing as a nine-year-old, who boasts 34 wins and almost $1.15 million in earnings. They are the new and the old of NZ trotting. The latest markets have Oscar Bonavena rated slightly higher at $3.50 and Bet N Win at $4.50 to win the final. Both of them will have turn the tables on Australia's new trotting star Arcee Phoenix, who beat the pair on their patch in the $NZ500,000 TAB Trot at Cambridge on April 4. Arcee Phoenix is back! Arcee Phoenix is back in action winning the Yabby Dam Farms Trotters Free for All with ease for trainer-driver Chris Svanosio. — The Trots (@TheTrotsComAu) June 21, 2025 Arcee Phoenix has long looked the next big thing in Aussie trotting and he's delivering on that this year. Chris Svanosio's six-year-old followed a sparkling Melton trial win with an arrogant first-up win at the same track last night. There was a touch of Just Believe about the way he made a midrace move to sit outside the leader and toyed with his rivals last night. His odds were slashed from $3.50 to $2.80 for the trotting finals straight after it.

Lazzat wins Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes, Storm Boy fails
Don't miss out on the headlines from Horse Racing. Followed categories will be added to My News. Former Australian boom colt Storm Boy again disappointed as Golden Eagle runner-up Lazzat shined bright to prevail in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot in the early hours of Sunday morning. Lazzat highlighted his incredible tenacity to lead throughout, leaving his trainer Jerome Reynier dreaming of a clash with the world's best sprinter Ka Ying Rising after his star held off Japanese gun Satono Reve. • PUNT LIKE A PRO: Become a Racenet iQ member and get expert tips – with fully transparent return on investment statistics – from Racenet's team of professional punters at our Pro Tips section. SUBSCRIBE NOW! The bulk of Australian eyes were on Coolmore-owned Storm Boy, which could only manage 10th under the urging of champion rider Ryan Moore. The racing future of the expensive colt is now clouded in uncertainty with the former Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained galloper failing to flatter in two northern hemisphere starts. Now trained by Aidan O'Brien, Storm Boy didn't beat a runner home when last of nine in the Greenlands Stakes at The Curragh last month and was similarly disappointing in his Royal Ascot debut. All honours, however, went to Lazzat, which put on a show during and after the race when the French gelding tossed rider James Doyle and went on a lap of honour around the famed English circuit. • 'We would love to go to Melbourne': Cup hope wins at Royal Ascot Reynier confirmed his desire to take on the world's best sprinter and current The Everest favourite Ka Ying Rising over the next two months but a clash in Australia's richest sprint seems unlikely. 'I'd love to take on Ka Ying Rising,' Reynier told Racing Post. 'Maybe at the end of the year we can face him in his own town in the Hong Kong Sprint. 'The July Cup is coming soon, so we'll bring him back home and probably wait to defend his crown in the Prix Maurice de Gheest. 'Then there's the Sprint Cup and then the Champion Sprint back here (in October).' Lazzat's Ascot victory adds to the remarkable depth of form from this year's Golden Eagle (1500m), which has now produced eight subsequent individual Group 1 winners. • J-Mac gets on the board at Royal Ascot Placegetter Tom Kitten (All Star Mile) as well as Stefi Magnetica (Doncaster Mile), Port Lockroy (Railway Stakes), Joliestar (Newmarket Handicap, Kingsford Smith Cup), War Machine (Stradbroke Handicap), Skybird (Black Caviar Lightning) and Ascoli Piceno (Victoria Mile) have all since won majors. Reynier intends to train Lazzat as a pure sprinter from now on. 'We knew we had a really good horse and he obviously had to prove it at the highest level,' Reynier said. 'He did it as a three-year-old but after going to Australia and Hong Kong, I was a bit scared it was going to be tough to find Lazzat the same as he was. 'But obviously we have been trying him over a mile to open his options but he is a pure sprinter and he will stick to sprinting distances and straight courses for his future.' Latrell Mitchell robbed of special moment in Golden Point chaos
Don't miss out on the headlines from NRL. Followed categories will be added to My News. The record that was never supposed to be broken now looks set to fall this season after try-scoring machine Alex Johnston scored four tries to move within six tries of Ken Irvine's legendary haul, but it wasn't enough as Ryan Papenhuyzen nailed a golden point field goal to sink South Sydney. FOX LEAGUE, available on Kayo Sports, is the only place to watch every game of every round in the 2025 NRL Telstra Premiership, LIVE with no ad-breaks during play. New to Kayo? Get your first month for just $1. Limited-time offer > A week after they were forced off by lightning and heavy rain, the Rabbitohs held their own against a very different Storm side but fell short of a famous win as Papenhuyzen drilled a shot from 15 metres out to seal a thrilling 25-24 win. But the story is Johnston who is now up to 206 tries and needs just seven more tries to go past Irvine after he scored once in the first half and twice in the space of two minutes after the break as he tormented Melbourne's right edge defence. His 16th hat-trick – and 56th multi-try game – continued his astounding record, with Johnston's first three tries all coming off Latrell Mitchell passes. The Storm hit back to take the lead through Grant Anderson, but it lasted less than a minute as the veteran winger picked off a Jahrome Hughes pass to become the first player ever to score four tries against the Storm in a game. Given his incredible strike rate, there's every chance Johnston will break the long-standing record in the coming weeks which will trigger incredible scenes wherever it takes place. GOLDEN MOMENT The Storm had their hearts broken in golden point at Magic Round, but they flipped the script on Saturday with Papenhuyzen nailing the moment after his first shot was charged down 30 seconds earlier. Melbourne's fullback has been ice cool in the past and was at his clinical best after he saw rival Latrell Mitchell miss his 46-metre attempt in the final seconds of regulation time. It sealed a crucial win for the Storm who move into third spot without any byes to come for the rest of the season. SUA SIZZLES Souths looked certain to steamroll the Storm in the final 20 minutes until a moment of magic from livewire winger Sua Fa'alogo saved the visitors. Melbourne got off to a flying start when skipper Harry Grant waltzed through some flimsy marker defence to open the scoring, and they doubled their advantage from the next set when Grant Anderson put in a banana kick for Jahrome Hughes. But then they fell into their old ways that have plagued them for much of the season as they produced eight first-half errors to invite Souths back into the contest. Their attack fell flat until Fa'alogo sparked them into life when he caught a towering bomb on his own 20 and broke through to set up Tyran Wishart to put Melbourne back in front. Another error from the kick-off summed up their night, with Papenhuyzen producing a magical play from a 20-metre restart to find touch, only for the full-time siren to beat them before they could pack the scrum. SOUTHS FIGHT ON The Rabbitohs could drop to second last on the ladder at the end of the round, but they lost no admirers after this one. It's been a tough run for the Bunnies against the top four teams, but they are showing plenty of fight even though Wayne Bennett suffered his 15th loss in a row against Craig Bellamy. Mitchell is the man who can save their season after he set up four tries, including a stunning grubber for Tyrone Munro to score with four minutes remaining, only for his conversion attempt to sail wide.
