SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — A Santa Rosa County woman with dementia accused of is out of jail and in a memory care facility.
Escambia County hit-and-run driver sought
79-year-old Elizabeth Collins was arrested on June 2 after the incident at her Gulf Breeze home.
Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office officials said the woman thought her husband was an intruder, which is why she attacked him.
She was taken to jail because Florida's Baker Act, the mental health law, specifically of mental illness.
The act allows those with mental health issues to be detained without arrest to undergo an evaluation.
Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office looking for missing 10-year-old girl
On Friday, June 13, Collins was transferred from the jail's medical wing to Navarre Gardens, which officials said will allow her to receive the specialized care she needs.

Good Samaritan speaks after ocean rescue Saad was on the beach with his family when he heard screaming and saw a young girl struggling in the water. He dove in immediately, pulling her safely to shore, though the rescue nearly cost him his life. "I would do it again. I will get a huge bill, but I'll do it no matter the consequences," Saad said. Tragic outcome for girl's father Tragically, the girl's father, 33-year-old Antwon Wilson of Lauderhill, also entered the water to help and drowned. The call for help came around 7:20 p.m. Sunday near the B Ocean Resort on Fort Lauderdale Beach, just 20 minutes after lifeguards had gone off duty. Ocean Rescue lieutenants who were wrapping up their day heard the call and rushed to the scene. Wilson was found underwater minutes later. Paramedics began lifesaving efforts and transported him to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Daughter in fair condition Both of Wilson's daughters were ultimately rescued. One of them, the girl Saad saved, remains hospitalized in fair condition. Fort Lauderdale police said the drowning appears to be accidental and they are continuing a death investigation.

BEDFORD TOWNSHIP, MI — The Monroe County Sheriff's Office has provided an update on the investigation into two deaths that occurred in Bedford Township on Saturday, June 14. Gwendolyn Smith, 17, and Ryne Leist, 33, both of Temperance, were found dead in a residence in the 1600 block of West Sterns Road. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau is still investigating the circumstances leading to their deaths. The autopsy occurred today, but they are still awaiting the results on the cause of death from the Lucas County Coroner's office, according to the sheriff's office. More: Death of Bedford High grad under investigation "Sheriff detectives are working diligently to conduct a complete investigation into this tragic incident; weask for the communities' patience as this investigation continues," the sheriff's office said in a Monday, June 16 release. The release stated there is no threat to the community at this time. A GoFundMe page has been set up for Smith's family.
