Soon after Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) thrashed Inter Milan five-nil to win the Champions League, Ousmane Dembélé urged fans not to go wild. 'Let's celebrate but without breaking everything in Paris,' said the PSG striker.
His plea fell on deaf ears. Two have died, shops were looted, bus stops vandalised, cars torched and police attacked as Paris succumbed to an orgy of violence. The worst of the rioting was on the Champs-Élysées, where police come under fire from projectiles, including fireworks, and dozens of arrests were made. In total, 563 people were detained and the Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau labelled them 'barbarians… who had come to commit crimes and provoke the forces of order.'
He was criticised by his political opponents. The National Rally described what should have been an evening of joyous celebration as a 'fiasco' with Jordan Bardella accusing Retailleau of being unprepared for the riots.

The Serie A giants were thumped 5-0 by Paris Saint-Germain in Munich. Club chiefs apparently believe that Rashford could be a perfect addition as they aim to rebuild the squad in the wake of that defeat. It is also said his signing would go a long way to getting fans back onside. Inter are apparently exploring a long-term loan move, albeit United would prefer a permanent deal. A source as quoted by The Sun said: 'Marcus is open-minded to a move abroad, and a fresh start. Lots of players have made the move from the Premier League to Serie A in recent years and performed very well. That's why the idea of such a switch excites both the player and Inter.' Away from Inter, Barcelona have also been credited with an interest in Rashford. Sporting director Deco was recently asked about a potential move but claimed work needed to be done behind the scenes before the Catalan side could consider adding new signings to their squad. 'We have been focusing on renewing contracts, after that, we'll discuss players to come," Deco said to BBC Sport. "Of course, these two players [Rashford and Luis Diaz], like you mentioned, they are good but have contracts in their clubs, so we won't speak because it's not fair. 'But when you decide to go to the market, for sure, we find some names. In my opinion, we don't need to bring many players. When I speak with the agents of the players, everyone wants to come or stay. 'So this is important. The image of the club is still good. We are proud because Barcelona is still such a big club, and the way we are playing football makes players want to come."

'There is currently no intelligence to suggest the deaths of these two men in Spain are linked to the recent criminal attacks in Scotland." The Foreign Office said: 'We are supporting families of two British men who died in Fuengirola.'
