Dubai will release 86 rental dispute inmates ahead of Eid Al Fitr 2025.
In a humanitarian initiative reflecting the values of tolerance and social solidarity in the UAE, the Dubai Rental Disputes Centre, with the support of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Est., has released all inmates involved in rental disputes in Dubai.
As part of this initiative, 86 inmates, who were detained over rent-related financial claims and judicial rulings issued by the centre, have been released following the settlement of their outstanding financial claims totalling more than AED6.8m ($1.9m).
This step aims to ease the burden on affected families and alleviate the suffering of those struggling with rental disputes.
The initiative is in line with the UAE's humanitarian approach, and its commitment to supporting those in need, enhancing family stability, and enabling individuals to overcome financial crises.
It also reflects the leadership's focus on fostering social responsibility, promoting social stability, and supporting charitable efforts that contribute to improving quality of life.
Judge AbdulQader Mousa Mohammed, Chairman of the Dubai Rental Disputes Centre, said: 'We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Est. for their generous support for this initiative that reflects the values of tolerance and generosity instilled by our leadership.
'This initiative sets an exemplary model for solidarity and cooperation across all sectors of society. It reaffirms our commitment to the rehabilitation and reintegration of the released individuals into society, ensuring they have an opportunity to start a new life.
He also emphasised the continuous efforts of the Dubai Rental Disputes Centre to review cases thoroughly and apply judicial standards while also considering humanitarian aspects, ensuring a balance between the rights of tenants and landlords.
He said: 'This initiative is a significant boost to our efforts to provide support to the underprivileged in accordance with the spirit of both law and humanity, while ensuring the rights of all parties. We will continue to collaborate with our partners and institutions to enhance social justice and provide transparent, people-centred services'.

Al Mazrouei affirmed that the Establishment's support to release all inmates involved in rental disputes aims to ease financial burdens, restore family unity, and offer the individuals a fresh start free from debt and judicial rulings.

Qatar Welcomed 1.5M+ Tourists in Q1, Led by GCC and Europe
Qatar's tourism sector began 2025 with strong momentum, welcoming more than 1.5m international visitors between January and March. Visitors from GCC countries accounted for (36 per cent), followed by Europe (28 per cent) and Asia and Oceania (20 per cent), reinforcing Qatar's growing appeal across varied markets. Visitor arrivals by air (51 per cent), land (34 per cent) and sea (15 per cent) highlight the effectiveness of Qatar's diversified access strategy. Notably, Eid Al Fitr 2025 delivered the highest holiday arrival figures in three years, with 214,000 visitors during the eight-day period, a 26 per cent increase over 2024. GCC visitors accounted for 49 per cent of the total, marking an 18 per cent year-on-year increase, and hotel occupancy reached 77 per cent, up 10 per cent from the same period last year. Strong performance across the hospitality sector accompanied this growth. 71 per cent average hotel occupancy and 2.6m room nights sold reflected heightened demand fuelled by key events including Web Summit Qatar, the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE), and the Qatar International Food Festival. Saad Bin Ali Al Kharji, Chairman of Qatar Tourism and Chair of the Board of Directors of Visit Qatar, said: 'The achievements of the first quarter of 2025 demonstrate some of the planned outputs of our long-term approach to tourism development. Part of the development transcends into deepening collaboration across local, regional and international markets and continue to diversify source markets, enhance visitor experiences, and reinforce Qatar's position as a dynamic, year-round destination. 'We are excited to have welcomed 1.5m in Q1 and look forward to welcoming more guests throughout this year.' Qatar reaffirmed its leadership in regional tourism by hosting the 51st UN Tourism Regional Committee for the Middle East, where discussions focused on harnessing Qatar's strengths in sports, innovation, and infrastructure to drive sustainable tourism across the region. As part of its commitment to responsible development, Qatar is also progressing the transformation of Khor Al Udaid into a premier desert tourism destination. Anchored in the Tourism Assets Masterplan, the project blends environmental preservation with upscale, nature-based visitor experiences—positioning it as a model for eco-tourism in the region. To further elevate the visitor experience, Qatar Tourism has also launched the 'Taste of Qatar' initiative in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health and Ipsos, aimed at benchmarking and enhancing the country's dining landscape for both residents and tourists. The Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition 2025 welcomed nearly 30,000 visitors, featuring more than 500 international and local brands, and recorded sales exceeding QR246m ($68), up nearly 10 per cent from last year. Visit Qatar's first-of-its-kind Ras Abrouq desert activation drew 55,000 visitors over 60 days, while Visit Qatar's Sealine Village attracted over 48,000 attendees. Shop Qatar 2025 generated QR120m ($33m) in sales, a 50 per cent increase year-on-year, and awarded QR2.5m ($688,000) in prizes. The Qatar International Food Festival brought together more than 365,000 visitors and 180 restaurants, including 28 international outlets, while the Throwback Food Festival welcomed over 100,000 to Doha's Old Port. The 2024/2025 cruise season recorded 87 ship calls (up 19 per cent from previous season), including five maiden voyages and 13 homeporting calls, bringing in over 360,000 cruise visitors, which is a 4 per cent increase year-on-year. More than 10 per cent were turnaround passengers, supporting Qatar's positioning as a regional cruise hub. Momentum is set to continue with a robust calendar of confirmed events. Qatar will host the T100 Triathlon World Championship Final in partnership with the Professional Triathletes Organisation annually until 2030. Upcoming highlights include the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, the return of the Visit Qatar E1 Grand Prix of Electric Boats, as well as a series of major festivals and sporting events, all set to further diversify tourism offerings and drive sustained growth. Father granted visitation despite conviction
A father convicted of insulting and defaming his own children has been granted weekly overnight access, following a ruling by a Sharia Court. The judgment permits him to see his four children from Thursday evening until Saturday evening each week. He will also be allowed visits on the first day of Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha, during the school spring break for seven days, the summer holiday for a fortnight, and on certain religious and national dates. Periods Overnight stays are included in most of these periods. Handover will take place either at the mother's home or the nearest social centre, depending on the day. The mother objected. She told the court the children were reluctant to visit their father's home, where he lives with his wife, sister, nephew and the nephew's wife. She referred to his 2022 criminal conviction for verbal abuse and defamation, and said he rarely saw the children. Complaint A complaint had also been filed against her, she said, for bringing the children to him. The father, through his lawyer Jassim Al Essa, submitted a copy of the divorce certificate and the children's identity cards. The court noted that he was the legal guardian and, by law, entitled to contact unless there were sound reasons to prevent it. It found none.

Etihad Airways to Launch Peshawar Flights in September 2025
Etihad Airways has announced the introduction of flights between Abu Dhabi and Peshawar, Pakistan, beginning on September 29, 2025. The UAE's national carrier will connect Zayed International Airport (AUH) with Bacha Khan International Airport (PEW), adding a fourth Pakistani destination to its network alongside Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore. The service will initially operate five times weekly before increasing to daily flights from November 22, 2025. Etihad will deploy its Airbus A320 family aircraft on the route, configured with eight Business Class and 150 Economy Class seats. 'We are thrilled to further expand our presence in Pakistan with the launch of our daily service between Abu Dhabi and Peshawar. This new route reflects our commitment to providing vital connectivity for travellers between Pakistan and the Gulf, Africa, Europe, and North America. In addition to new flights to Peshawar, we are boosting our frequency to Karachi to 17 flights a week from October 1,' Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways said. The Peshawar route marks Etihad's sixteenth new destination in 2025, following recent network expansions to Addis Ababa, Prague, Warsaw, Algiers, Tunis, and Atlanta. The airline has also increased frequencies to European cities, including Paris, Milan, Manchester, Frankfurt, Zurich, and Madrid. Flights will depart Abu Dhabi at 02:45, arriving in Peshawar at 06:55, whereas return services will leave Peshawar at 08:50, landing in Abu Dhabi at 11:15 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. From November 22, 2025, the service will operate daily with flight EY276 departing Abu Dhabi at 02:45 and arriving in Peshawar at 06:55. The return flight EY277 will depart Peshawar at 08:50, reaching Abu Dhabi at 11:15. These services will also be operated by Airbus A320 family aircraft. Passengers can take advantage of Etihad's Abu Dhabi Stopover programme, which offers up to two complimentary nights at premium hotels for travellers with connecting flights.
