Buying a refurbished Apple Watch is a slightly different process to searching online for a new one or popping into an Apple Store. You'll need to go online through either Apple's refurbished store or a refurbished marketplace.
You must verify the standards of the marketplace to make sure you get a reliable device, and when you're shopping around these are the key factors we'd consider.
It's expected that your refurbished Apple Watch will come with a warranty. A one-year warranty is quite typical from refurbished product websites.
However, this will only cover functionality faults or defects, not all the other issues that could arise after purchase. The best possible warranty comes if you buy a refurbished watch directly from Apple, and there you get the option to add AppleCare insurance too.
If things go wrong, you'll appreciate being able to return the watch and get a refund. Check the refurbisher's policies on this, as you want to have some flexibility in case the product doesn't meet your expectations or if you change your mind.

While it might seem like you can pay for a battery replacement at an Apple Store, it'll probably cost you a lot and likely won't be an actual battery replacement. It'll just be a different refurbished product. It's an expense and fuss that you're better off planning to avoid.
Unfortunately, refurbished stores often lower the cost of the product by selling the Apple Watch with lower-quality third-party chargers and Apple Watch straps.
The guaranteed way to get the official accessories is by going through Apple's refurbished store, but you may be able to find out the information about original accessories through the seller or the marketplace. It's worth checking this to save yourself the additional costs.

Doi not make these dangerous connections. Republished on June 26 with new advice for smartphone users on these threats. A timely caution for smartphone users this week, with the police warning criminals can push malicious SMS texts directly onto their phones, bypassing mobile networks. This is why Google warns all smartphone users to change their networks settings. The threat comes from so-called SMS blasters, which trick phones into making a direct connection with an attacker's radio device, thinking it's a real network access point. The texts themselves are no different to the ones coming via normal networks — but for an attacker there's no need to have a list of target numbers, they can select a target location instead. This means they can prioritize areas with richer pickings. Police in the U.K, when one SMS-blasting cyber criminal was jailed this week, warn that criminals will try "to bypass fraud prevention measures designed to protect consumers [to] Google warns that 'this method to inject messages entirely bypasses the carrier network, thus bypassing all the sophisticated network-based anti-spam and anti-fraud filters.' The company has now seen this 'SMS Blaster fraud' in multiple countries. Google also says that increasing evidence 'of the exploitation of weaknesses in cellular communication standards leveraging cell-site simulators' means users need to act. The solution is to disable 2G networks on your phone. This is still dependent on manufacturer and model, but you can search for 2G or phone or cellular settings to check if it's available. 2G is woefully insecure compared to more recent networks, particularly 5G but also 4G (LTE) and even 3G. This is why Google and Samsung are upgrading devices to prevent Android phones connecting to these less secure networks. 2G is also disabled by default if Android 16's new Advanced Protection Mode is enabled. The police advice is to disable 2G. Disable 2G on your phone Remember, even in locations where 2G has been sunsetted, the phone will still connect to a fake cell access point if it has 2G enabled. This is a device level problem. As a rarity, this is one security area where Androids beat iPhones. You cannot currently disable 2G on an Apple device unless you use Apple's Lockdown Mode sledgehammer. But you can filter texts from unknown numbers and treat them all with suspicion. And the advice not to click links is the same however a text was sent to your phone. And on that note, while SMS blasters might be a risk to users unlucky enough to find themselves in the vicinity of one, the real dangers remain network based. According to Trend Micro's latest report, the primary threat last month was 'cybercriminals using their regular tactics in trying to scam consumers, with scammers impersonating well known brands such as PayPal, Netflix, Mater Lotteries, Toyota and Google.' The security firm says 'the golden rule of any scam, online or otherwise, is that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.' In fact, the fear of infidelity often drives us to panic and seek answers — who does it, why they do it and how to prevent it — so that we never have to face that kind of pain in our relationships. In our search for answers and self-protection, we'll look for patterns that can tell us which kind of person is most likely to cheat on us. But when these patterns turn into unproven generalizations, it can be dangerous. In 2018, Ashley Madison, a controversial dating service for those who are already married or in relationships, asked over 1000 users what they did for a living. Among women using the site for extra-marital affairs, the most commonly reported profession was working in medicine, with 23% of users working as doctors or nurses. 5% of male users also worked in medicine. 'A combination of long hours of potential stress mixed with a natural reaction to stress just might be the reason these women in the medical profession seek out an affair,' suggests Isabella Mise, Director of Communications at Ashley Madison. More recently in 2025, another extra-marital dating service from the UK, called Illicit Encounters, appears to have reaffirmed this finding, reporting that nurses make up the largest proportion of female users on their website. Many are questioning the truth and weight behind these claims, considering that these reports are based on users who chose to use these sites for affairs, and do not represent the entire industry of healthcare workers. Sure, some nurses might cheat. But are all nurses prone to cheating? To avoid giving in to misconceptions and stereotypes, it's essential to look at the evidence objectively. Could Nurses Be More Prone To Cheating? Healthcare workers often have to manage long and unpredictable work hours, high-stress situations and the emotional weight of their work, which can cause grief, exhaustion, anxiety and severe mental and physical burnout. A 2017 study published in the Journal of Clinical Nursing assessed the levels of burnout in nursing home caregivers in France, and found that 40% of participants struggled with caregiver burnout. Often, the tendency to cheat has been attributed to the stressful nature of such work. In a 2021 study of over 360 doctors and nurses, published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, researchers found that 21% of participants were either currently in or had been in an unfaithful relationship in the past, and over 80% of such individuals were doctors. Interestingly, in contrast to the trope of adulterous female nurses, researchers found that men in the study were almost five times more likely to cheat than women, with men also being more likely to engage in sex in the doctor's room while on duty. Work hours also seemed to play a role in this pattern. People who worked on the nighttime emergency schedule were almost 18 times more likely to be unfaithful to their partners than those who worked part-time. Participants blamed the demands of their job, including having to spend time away from home for many hours and needing to release their stress. They also admitted that because of their work, it was easier to justify their absence at home, and likely easier to cover up their infidelity. However, it's essential to remember that correlation is not causation. While their occupation may have created conditions that tested them, the choice to be unfaithful was still deeply personal. Could professions like healthcare create conditions that facilitate infidelity? Certainly. Does being a part of that profession inevitably and directly cause infidelity? Absolutely not. Who Really Cheats? Here are some of the most salient reasons why people cheat, that have much more to do with themselves, than what profession they're in: Regardless of the context, infidelity ultimately appears to be the result of deep internal conflict, rather than external temptation.
