Accenture expands Google Cloud partnership
Accenture has deepened its strategic alliance with Google Cloud, unveiling a suite of new capabilities designed to assist organisations in scaling advanced cloud and AI technologies.
The new offerings span five main areas, including agentic AI, customer experience modernisation, wide area network (WAN) services, Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) solutions, and mainframe modernisation.
As part of the expansion, Accenture is broadening its catalogue of agent solutions tailored to specific industries and functions. These solutions leverage Google Agentspace and Gemini's reasoning models and are available through the joint Accenture Google Gen AI Centre of Excellence.
Accenture's AI Refinery platform also supports Google Cloud's new Agent2Agent interoperability protocol, allowing AI agents to interact more effectively with a range of applications.
In customer experience, Accenture is launching tools that use its GenWizard platform and Google's Customer Engagement Suite.
These tools facilitate the migration of legacy contact systems to Contact-Center-as-a-Service, allow deployment of AI agents, implementation of gen AI-based testing and analytics frameworks, and provide omni-channel analytics capabilities.
Accenture is also introducing packaged solutions based on GDC that are aimed at sectors including public services, manufacturing, and utilities.
In networking, Accenture is incorporating Google Cloud's new Cloud WAN service into its Cloud Network Operator platform. This provides enterprises with secure connectivity to applications while enhancing operations, security, governance, and compliance.
For mainframe modernisation, Accenture is using Gemini-powered tools to enhance its GenWizard platform.
This will accelerate the analysis and assessment of mainframe inventories, code conversion, and reverse engineering processes, benefiting industries like banking, health, and retail.
Accenture is also applying these technologies internally. Its research team, in collaboration with Kensho, S&P Global's AI hub, is using Google's third-party grounding capability to integrate S&P Global financial data into research models.
This approach enhances access to reliable data with traceability.
In March 2025, Accenture expanded its footprint and AI capabilities in the Nordic region with the acquisition of AI company Halfspace.
Halfspace is engaged in developing AI and generative AI solutions that simplify complex business workflows.

Alberta resumes buying U.S. alcohol, months after pause meant to fight tariffs
EDMONTON - Alberta is buying American alcohol and gambling machines again, three months after Premier Danielle Smith announced restrictions aimed at fighting back against U.S. tariffs. Service Alberta Minister Dale Nally said Friday that the move signals a 'renewed commitment to open and fair trade' with the United States. Smith said in March that the province would no longer buy U.S. alcohol and video lottery terminals, or sign contracts with American companies. Alberta's liquor stores are privately owned but must order stock through the provincial government. That came a day after U.S. President Donald Trump slapped heavy tariffs on Canadian goods and energy. Other premiers also announced bans on U.S. liquor along with other proposed penalties. Nally said in a statement that the decision to resume buying U.S. alcohol and gambling machines 'sets the stage for more constructive negotiations' ahead of a renewal of the Canada-U.S.-Mexico trade agreement. The agreement, known as CUSMA, was negotiated during the first Trump administration and is up for a mandatory review in 2026. 'Prime Minister Mark Carney has made a clear effort to reset the relationship with the U.S. administration, and Alberta's government supports this approach,' Nally said. 'We are focused on highlighting Alberta's role as a responsible and collaborative trading partner and will continue working alongside other provinces to advocate for a tariff-free relationship.' The minister said Albertans are encouraged to continue supporting local producers, even as more U.S. options return to store shelves. Analysts unveil bold forecast for Alphabet stock despite ChatGPT threat
You typed in a question and clicked a few links, and Google could get paid if you landed on an ad. For years, that simple cycle helped turn Google into a trillion-dollar titan. Instead of browsing through links, users are getting direct summaries on AI. These "zero-click" searches quietly erode the economics that built the modern internet. The number of users is growing fast. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said in April that ChatGPT already has "something like 10% of the world" in terms of users, pegging the number closer to 800 million, Forbes reported. Even Google seems to know it. It's giving AI answers, called AI Overviews, right at the top of the page. "What's changing is not that fewer people are searching the that more and more the answers to Google are being answered right on Google's page. In April, the company posted first-quarter revenue of $90.23 billion, topping Wall Street expectations. Earnings per share came in at $2.81, far above the forecasted $2.01. Its "Search and other" segment rose almost 10% year over year, hitting $50.7 billion. Meanwhile, Google's own AI tools are starting to show traction. AI Overviews now has 1.5 billion users per month, up from 1 billion in October, the company said. So far, the numbers suggest that AI isn't cannibalizing Google's business yet. Bank of America remains bullish on Alphabet stock. The firm reiterated a buy rating and a price target of $200, which implies a potential 15% upside from current levels, according to a recent research report. The firm said in May, Google's global average daily web visits held steady at 2.7 billion, unchanged from the previous month and down 2% from a year earlier. ChatGPT, meanwhile, saw a 3% month-over-month increase to 182 million, marking a 105% jump year-over-year. Although Google has highlighted the growing reach of its AI Overviews, analysts are uncertain whether it's translating into more traffic. "So far, we are not seeing a lift in Google traffic from AI Overviews expansion, though we think the search experience is much improved," the analysts wrote. The competition is real. Google's global search share also edged down in May, falling 8 basis points month-over-month and 123 basis points year-over-year to 89.6%, according to Statcounter. Still, Bank of America analysts remain optimistic on Alphabet stock. "While ChatGPT's traffic continues to grow rapidly, we think Google remains well-positioned given its scale, multi-product reach, data assets, and robust monetization infrastructure," the analysts said. "AI can expand overall search monetization by better understanding the intent behind complex and long-tail queries that were previously hard to monetize," they added. Morningstar's Malik Ahmed Khan echoed that sentiment, saying Alphabet's diverse revenue streams and global exposure should cushion any hits, even as regulatory and AI risks mount, according to a May research report. Alphabet stock closed at $174.92 on June 6. The stock is down 8% year-to-date.
