Musk Endorses Claim That Trump 'Would Have Lost' Election Without Him: 'Such Ingratitude'
Following days of Elon Musk railing against President Donald Trump's "big, beautiful bill," the billionaire CEO finally took a direct shot at Trump, marking a dramatic escalation in the growing rift between two of the most influential men in American politics.
Musk reposted a screenshot of comments that were seemingly previously visible only to his subscribers on X.
"Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate," the screenshots read. The pink star signifying a "super follow," indicates that only the exclusive group of his paid subscribers could see the original tweets. "Such ingratitude," the tweet added.
The repost featured commentary on a screenshot of Musk apparent semi-private comments. "He's not wrong," the X user wrote.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia returned to US to face charges – DW – 06/07/2025
Abrego Garcia faces smuggling charges his lawyer calls "fantastical," in a case reflecting tensions between the Trump administration and the courts. Deported in error by President Donald Trump's administration, Kilmar Abrego Garcia is back in the United States to stand trial on smuggling charges. He appeared in federal court in Nashville on Friday evening. The indictment was filed on May 21, US Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed at a press conference, over two months after Abrego Garcia had been deported to El Salvador. Garcia's deportation in March sparked protests in the US amid anger over the Trump administration's aggressive approach to tackling undocumented migrants in the country. The US Supreme Court in April ordered Trump to facilitate the 29-year-old's return after Washington admitted to an "administrative error" that led to his deportation. Abrego Garcia's lawyer call case 'baseless' After Abrego Garcia had been deported to El Salvador, the White House continued to insist that he was a member of the international criminal gang MS-13 and refused to facilitate his return until now. According to the indictment, Abrego Garcia was involved in smuggling undocumented migrants from Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and other countries into the United States between 2016 and earlier this year. On Friday, Attorney General Bondi alleged that Abrego Garcia had "played a significant role in an alien smuggling ring" and was a smuggler of "children and women" as well as members of the Salvadoran gang MS-13. His arraignment is set for June 13, when he will enter a plea, according to local media reports. Until then, he will remain in federal custody. "The man has a horrible past, and I could see a decision being made, bring him back, show everybody how horrible this guy is," Trump told reporters on Friday. In April, El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele said had no plans to return Abrego Garcia [ FILE: April 14, 2025] Image: Kevin Lamarque/REUTERS Simon Sandoval-Moshenberg, Abrego Garcia's lawyer, called the criminal charges "fantastical" and a "kitchen sink" of allegations. "This is all based on the statements of individuals who are currently either facing prosecution or in federal prison," he said. "I want to know what they offered those people." He added the Trump administration had returned him to the US "not to correct their error but to prosecute him." "Due process means the chance to defend yourself before you're punished, not after," Sandoval-Moshenberg said. "This is an abuse of power, not justice." Bondi said if convicted, Abrego Garcia would be deported to El Salvador after completing his sentence in the US. Tensions between the Trump administration and the judiciary Abrego Garcia entered the US without permission around 2011 while fleeing gang violence in El Salvador. He and his wife, a US citizen, are raising three children. His case has become a symbol of escalating tensions between the Trump administration and the judiciary. He was deported to his home country amid a Trump administration crackdown on migration despite a 2019 judge's order that granted him protection from deportation. He was deported in March and held at the Cecot mega-prison in El Salvador, known for its brutal conditions. "There was a lot of pressure on the US and US President Donald Trump to bring this man he is [convicted], they will say they 'we were right in the first place to deport him,'" DW's US correspondent Benjamin Alvarez Gruber said. Senator Chris Van Hollen met Kilmar Abrego Garcia in El Salvador in April after being denied access to him at first [FILE: April 17, 2025] Image: Press Office Senator Van Hollen/AP Photo/picture alliance Democrats and immigrant rights groups had pressed for Abrego Garcia's release, with several lawmakers, including Senator Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, where Abrego Garcia had lived for years, even traveling to El Salvador to visit him. The US Supreme Court ordered the Trump administration in April to "facilitate" his return. On Friday, Van Hollen said the Trump administration has "finally relented to our demands for compliance with court orders and the due process rights afforded to everyone in the United States." "The administration will now have to make its case in the court of law, as it should have all along," Van Hollen added. US authorities using wrong allegations to deport migrants? Musk Fires Back With Slur After Steve Bannon Called for Trump to Seize SpaceX, Deport the CEO
Elon Musk hurled slurs after former Trump strategist Steve Bannon called for the president to seize SpaceX and deport Musk following his public tirade against President Donald Trump and his support for Republicans' "one big, beautiful bill." Bannon railed against Musk and his work with the Department of Government Efficiency during the Thursday episode of his "War Room" podcast, in which he claimed that Trump was upset that Musk "didn't find any fraud." STEVE BANNON: "President Trump, TONIGHT, should sign an executive order calling up the Defense Production Act, and seize SpaceX TONIGHT, before midnight." — Eric Daugherty (@EricLDaugh) June 5, 2025 "When he threatens to take one of the big programs out of SpaceX, President Trump tonight should sign an executive order calling for the Defense Production Act to be called and seize SpaceX tonight before midnight," Bannon declared. Clips of this part of the podcast were then shared to X, Musk's social media platform, where Musk had some choice words to reveal his thoughts toward Bannon's ideas. Bannon is peak retard — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) June 6, 2025 "Bannon is peak r*****," the Tesla CEO commented after the video was reposted to by the popular X account "R***** Finder." Musk then doubled down on the sentiment hours later in another comment after another user shared the same clip: "Bannon is a communist r*****." Bannon is a communist retard — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) June 6, 2025 Earlier in the day, Bannon had called for Musk to be deported, telling the New York Times , "They should initiate a formal investigation of his immigration status because I am of the strong belief that he is an illegal alien, and he should be deported from the country immediately." Bannon's support for Trump continued after Musk posted a series of scathing tweets directed at the president over Republicans' "big, beautiful bill" which Trump has expressed support for. Although Musk served as a close ally of Trump for the past several months, he explained that he believes the spending bill would undermine the work of DOGE, as current estimates suggest the bill will raise the national deficit by several trillion dollars. While Musk's tweets initially just railed against the bill and dug up tweets from Trump's past where he expressed opposition to raising the national deficit, the tirade later became more accusatory, claiming that the files on Jeffrey Epstein have not been released yet because Trump's name is in them. Trump and the White House have not addressed this accusation, though he told ABC News Friday that he is "not particularly" interested in talking to Musk anytime soon. Musk's Rage 'Helps Bolster' GOP Senator's Efforts Against Trump's 'Big, Beautiful Bill,' Lawmaker Says
Sen. Ron Johnson said Elon Musk's explosive criticism of Donald Trump's sweeping tax-and-spending plan helps reinforce Republican opposition to the bill, which some in the GOP warn will worsen the federal deficit. The latest divide within the party comes as lawmakers debate Trump's so-called "One Big Beautiful Bill," a legislative package that his allies say fulfills campaign promises but that fiscal conservatives like Johnson argue is too costly. Musk's public meltdown over the bill, paired with his threats to oust supporters and revelations that he donated over $250 million to Trump's campaign, has further complicated the politics surrounding the measure, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. In a series of social media posts this week, Musk claimed Trump wouldn't have been reelected without him, accused the former president of ties to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, and called for his impeachment. Trump fired back by threatening Musk's federal contracts and accusing him of trying to sabotage the legislation to protect electric vehicle tax breaks for Tesla. While Johnson welcomed Musk's support in questioning the bill's fiscal impact, other Republicans brushed off the feud. Rep. Derrick Van Orden called the dustup a "tempest in a teapot" and reiterated his loyalty to Trump. "I think it has an impact," Johnson said. "I think it helps bolster, certainly, my case that we have to address this." Rep. Tom Tiffany said Musk's input came too late to make a difference. Still, some lawmakers acknowledged that the billionaire's comments aren't helping the GOP unify behind the bill. Rep. Scott Fitzgerald said Musk's attacks weren't "helpful," and Rep. Troy Nehls accused Musk of having "lost [his] damn mind." Despite the fallout, Van Orden said the legislation will move forward and insisted Trump is still leading the GOP.
