Christine Baranski joins Nicole Kidman along with a star-studded line-up for season two, including Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding, The White Lotus star Murray Bartlett, and Schitt's Creek star Annie Murphy. But while the cast bonded during the six months they filmed in the snowy Austrian Alps, in a case of life imitating art, Kidman kept her distance on the series, which is now streaming on Prime Video. 'We bonded, the nine of us. And when [Kidman] would come in, it was sort of exactly like it would be in the show, which is she comes in and we're all, what's she all about? What's she going to do? And so the chemistry was sort of exactly right for it,' Baranski, 73, told Baranski and Kidman are joined by Henry Golding, Mark Strong and Aussie actor Murray Bartlett in the second season of Nine Perfect Strangers. Picture: Prime Video 'She's rather perfect for that role. The character of Masha is so mysterious and has her own backstory that's very, very complicated and interesting. And Nicole is really tall and statuesque, and her look in this show, I think, is particularly arresting. So she's just perfect for this inscrutable, intimidating character.' Picture: Prime Video Still, there was nothing that could keep Baranski away from the show or Kidman. 'It's such a no-brainer. My agent said it was Nicole Kidman and the second season of Strangers, which was already an established hit. Then he mentioned the talent that they were offering roles to various actors, and they were all extraordinary people. And then he said that it was going to film in Europe, in Munich and the Austrian Alps,' the Mamma Mia star shared. In season two, Baranski plays the glamorous and sensual Victoria, who enlists the help of Masha to repair her relationship with her daughter Imogen (played by Murphy). Anytime she'd go away [from set], she'd come back with cakes and treats and all these things for us,' Murphy told 'We were staying in this town called Halstadt in Austria, which is this beautiful fairytale town around this alpine lake. And we're staying in this beautiful hotel and the hotel backed onto the lake. 'Christine arranged this evening for us, and the sun was just setting and we walked out and there was champagne and beautiful tables set up. She'd curated this incredible classical playlist for us that was kind of echoing across this still, beautiful lake. And it was just magical.' Picture:In the series, there is also magic between Baranski's Victoria and her much younger lover Matteo (played by Aras Aydın). There seems to be a chorus of age-gap romances playing out on screens across Hollywood lately, but Baranski says there is nothing salacious about this May-December romance. 'It was very easy because Aras is so emotionally free and available and he's beautiful and so passionate. We didn't have to work at that [chemistry],' she said. 'As you can see from early on in the first few episodes, it's not just some sexy older woman-hot guy relationship. There's an enormous kind of tenderness and caretaking and loveliness between us. 'We valued bringing that out more than the sexy part because it's transcends age. People can love each other long after they feel sexy or hot for each other. The tenderness and the intimacy is what is most lasting and interesting.' Sydney Sweeney turning her bathwater into soap to connect with fans
Sydney Sweeney is turning her bathwater into soap to connect with fans. The 27-year-old actress, known for her roles in 'Euphoria' and 'The White Lotus', has collaborated with soap brand Dr. Squatch to create a limited-edition bar soap called Bathwater Bliss – and said it came about after followers started demanding samples of her bathwater. She said in a press release: 'When your fans start asking for your bathwater, you can either ignore it, or turn it into a bar of Dr. Squatch soap,' Sweeney said in a press release. Sydney first partnered with Dr. Squatch for a commercial promoting the brand's Natural Body Wash, where she appeared in a bubble bath. Now, the company has repurposed the suds from that ad into a new product. Sydney's soap bar features exfoliating sand and pine bark extract, combined with a splash of the actress' bathwater. According to the brand's statement, the scent 'channels two of the best places on Earth: the great outdoors and Sydney Sweeney's bathtub'. Sydney, who recently became single, added: 'It's weird in the best way, and I love that we created something that's not just unforgettable, it actually smells incredible and delivers like every other Dr. Squatch product I love. 'Hopefully, this helps guys wake up to the realities of conventional personal care products and pushes them towards natural.' The Bathwater Bliss soap will be available in a very limited run – only 5,000 bars will be produced, going on sale at noon EST on Friday, 6 June, while supplies last. Fans have reacted with a mixture of surprise and enthusiasm on social media. One wrote: 'What has the world come to… .' Another joked: 'The gooners are gonna spend their life savings getting as many as they can.' A third commented: 'Never thought I'd see the day that washing my mouth out with soap wasn't a punishment but I actually want to but here we are.' And yet another fan posed the question: 'Are straight men ok?'

'The White Lotus' creator Mike White is returning for 'Survivor 50' The 54-year-old writer and director - who competed on the reality show's 'David vs. Goliath' season in 2018 - will be back to help the CBS franchise mark its 50th anniversary alongside 23 other returning players. On Wednesday (28.05.25), host and executive producer Jeff Probst told 'CBS Mornings': "Mike, after he finished playing, said, 'I want to play again'. 'When 'White Lotus' hit, and I thought, 'Well, he'll never play again.' "But he kept texting and saying, 'Look, I'm serious. If you ever do anything where you have returning players, I want to play again.' So we're happy to have Mike.' Before 'Survivor' in 2018, Mike was best known for his work as a screenwriter on the likes of 'School of Rock', 'Nacho Libre' and 'Pitch Perfect 3'. Three years after he made it to the end of the intense reality show, he found success as the creator, writer and director of anthology thriller series 'The White Lotus'. He's cast a number of his fellow 'Survivor' alumni in the HBO series, which could endear him to the other contestants in the upcoming 50th season. In 2021, Mike - who also appeared on 'The Amazing Race' in 2009 - opened up about his love for reality TV, and insisted taking part in Survivor' in 2018 wasn't done as a joke. He told The New Yorker magazine: "'Survivor' is the only show I really devotedly watch, even though I get frustrated with it. 'Part of my job and my way of life is studying people and analyzing motivation and character. I still feel like, even on the most contrived reality show, the people are human and they're more interesting than some of the most well-scripted drama. "And for me, as a writer of drama, I aspire to do what reality television already does. To create characters that are surprising and dimensional and do weird shit and capture your attention.' However, at the time he didn't expect Jeff to want him back on board for another stint. he said: "Probst is like, 'Let's be real—you're never going to go on the show again'. I was like, 'Really? Why?' "We are friends. We've become more friends since I was on the show, and he's an impressive guy. I think the fact that we've become close is probably why he says that. "I don't know. I don't think they want the Hollywood Goliath who knows Probst to win a season. "Now that Probst knows I can get to the end, I don't think he wants there to be a chance of that happening again.'
