LOS ANGELES - Ain't no party like an LAWorld Series party.
The Los Angeles Dodgers led off their 2025 home opener by celebrating their World Series run from the previous campaign. In Hollywood fashion, they rolled out local legends to get the party started ahead of Thursday's game against the Detroit Tigers.

South Central's own Ice Cube pulled up to Dodger Stadium during the pregame festivities with the 2024 World Series trophy.
Those who watched the pregame festivities for Game 2 of the World Series remember Ice Cube's iconic on-field performance. The impromptu concert left Dodger skipper Dave Roberts nodding his head and singing along to "It Was A Good Day" and even opposing outfielder Alex Verdugo was caught enjoying Ice Cube's music, who was explicitly rapping for the Boys in Blue, not the New York Yankees.
Shortly after, Dodgers broadcaster Joe Davis re-enacted his now-famous line "Gibby, meet Freddie," in reference to his call during Game 1 of the World Series, which ended in a Freddie Freeman walk-off grand slam that resembled Kirk Gibson's famous home run in the 1988 Fall Classic. Both postseason heroes entered their respective World Series games nursing a serious leg injury.

After Davis delivered his line, Gibson walked onto the field to deliver the ceremonial first pitch to Freeman.

Iowa Football Preview 2025: The Hawkeyes Are Set For A 10-Win Season

Back in the 1980s and 1990s, there was a great pitcher named Bret Saberhagen. He's a fringe Hall of Fame candidate who won two Cy Youngs, a World Series, and had a great career. He's also forever known for a long stretch of rocking in odd-numbered years and being blah in even-numbered football has become the Bret Saberhagen of the Big Ten, winning ten games in 2019, 2021, and 2023, and failing to get past eight victories in 2020 (to be fair, there were only eight games), 2022, and 2024. X CFN, Fiu | CFN Facebook | Bluesky Fiu, CFN Iowa Offense BreakdownIowa Defense BreakdownSeason Prediction, Win Total, Keys to Season Iowa has won ten or more games in a season 11 times. Eight of them have been under Kirk Ferentz. Appearances in good bowl games have become the norm. The team committed the fewest penalties per game in all of college football, only Air Force was flagged for fewer yards, there weren't problems with turnovers, and ...Iowa lost to UCLA and Michigan State. If last year's team beat the Bruins and Spartans - who both finished with losing seasons - it would've been a ten-win Hawkeyes were good, but five of the eight wins were against teams that ended up under .500, another was against Illinois State from the FCS, and another came against a meh Nebraska that's been part of the formula for Iowa. It usually beats all of the teams it's supposed to. In the 10-4 2023 season, Northwestern was the only FBS team Iowa beat that finished with more than seven 2021 and 2019, Iowa won ten games in both seasons, beat good Minnesota teams, and the other 18 games came against the meh. This year, Oregon will finish with more than seven wins. So will Penn State, and so will a few other good teams on the Iowa slate. So no, Iowa might not get to ten wins without a little bit of help, but it's 2025. It's an odd year in so many a program overdue to make the College Football Playoff, and puts itself in a position to win every year, it might just Saberhagen its way into something special. Kendrick Lamar's Masterpiece Hits A New High As It Turns 10

Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp a Butterfly reenters multiple U.K. charts, hitting a new peak of No. 11 on ... More the Official Physical Albums list 10 years after its release. LOS ANGELES, CA - JUNE 27: (EDITORS NOTE: Image was shot in black and white. Color version not available.) Hip-hop artist Kendrick Lamar performs onstage during the Ice Cube, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, Jay Rock concert at Staples Center on June 27, 2015 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Christopher Polk/BET/Getty Images for BET) Kendrick Lamar broke out in a major way with his 2012 album Good Kid, M.A.A.D City, but it was his follow-up, To Pimp a Butterfly, that certified him as a master of his craft. After dropping that third full-length, nobody could argue with his abilities as a writer or a performer, and he's only grown as an artist and expanded his legacy since. To Pimp a Butterfly recently celebrated a milestone anniversary and this week becomes a bestseller once again in the United Kingdom. To Pimp a Butterfly appears on four album charts in the U.K. at the moment. It returns to three of them after not selling well enough to land on any non-genre-specific tallies just a few days ago. Perhaps most impressively, Lamar's third project almost breaks into the top 10 on the Official Physical Albums chart for the first time. It reenters that list at No. 11, which now stands as its all-time high on the ranking of bestselling full-lengths and EPs on all physical formats in the country. The same project also blasts back onto both the Official Vinyl Albums and Official Albums Sales charts. To Pimp a Butterfly lands at No. 7 on the vinyl tally and No. 13 on the broader albums sales ranking, which tracks the bestselling collections across all formats and genres. Before this week, To Pimp a Butterfly had peaked at No. 18 on the Physical Albums chart. It debuted in that spot back in March 2015 and earned two consecutive stays in that slot before beginning its descent. Over the past decade, the project has returned to the ranking multiple times and has now spent a total of 46 weeks on the 100-position list. Lamar has pushed six titles onto the Official Physical Albums chart throughout his career, and as To Pimp a Butterfly reaches a new high of No. 11, it passes DAMN. as his third-highest-rising release on the tally. DAMN. peaked at No. 13, while Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers narrowly missed the top spot, coming in at No. 2. His most recent project GNX reached as high as No. 3 earlier this year. To Pimp a Butterfly also climbs back to No. 1 on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Albums chart, a space it's occupied repeatedly for nearly a decade. The set jumps from No. 30 to No. 1, even though it never really left, as it's been charting there for nearly 500 weeks. To Pimp a Butterfly was originally released in March 2015, so only a few months ago it officially turned 10 years old. Lamar dropped a tenth anniversary vinyl edition of the set, which is responsible for its return to multiple rankings and its newfound high point on the Official Physical Albums roster.

Yankees $90 Million Veteran Offers 3-Word Response on Being Replaced

The New York Yankees will look to return to their winning ways against the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday after dropping their rivalry series against the Boston Red Sox over the weekend. Even after a disappointing loss to the long-time rival, though, the Yankees have to feel pretty good about how their season has gone so far. They have overcome injuries to several key players to build a considerable lead in the American League East division and have good reason to acquire some additional win-now talent ahead of the trade deadline. But as the team looks to improve the roster where it can, veteran infielder DJ leMahieu could soon find himself replaced. "He has a month, maybe a drop more, to show he is still a starting player in whom the Yankees can invest faith," Joel Sherman wrote for the New York Post. NEW YORK, NEW YORK - APRIL 01: DJ LeMahieu #26 of the New York Yankees looks on during batting practice before the game against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Yankee Stadium on April 01, 2025 in... NEW YORK, NEW YORK - APRIL 01: DJ LeMahieu #26 of the New York Yankees looks on during batting practice before the game against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Yankee Stadium on April 01, 2025 in the Bronx borough of New York City. (Photo) More Elsa/Getty In the fifth season of a six-year, $90 million contract with the Yankees, LeMahieu has struggled. After missing the beginning of the season with injury, he's returned to slash just .258/.333/.371 in 62 at-bats so far. The team has moved Jazz Chilsholm Jr. to third base in order to accommodate LeMahieu at second, where he feels more comfortable, but it could also open the path for the Yankees to bring in a trade replacement at the keystone if LeMahieu doesn't turn things around. However, when asked if LeMahieu feels like he's under any pressure of being replaced, he offered a three-word response to Sherman: "Not at all." "I have too much else to focus on," he added. As LeMahieu concentrates on helping the Yankees rack up some more wins, it's good to know he isn't distracted by any potential trade talk. But if things don't turn around at the plate soon, he could find himself on the bench for a playoff run. More MLB: Yankees Trade Idea Would Nab $70M Star, Son of Pivotal 1996 World Series Champion
