A techie couple, Pilla Umamaheswara Rao and Sailaja, tragically died in Simhachalam temple after a wall collapsed due to heavy rain. The incident occurred near the bus complex, leaving their family and the Chandrampalem community in deep sorrow.
VISAKHAPATNAM: A pall of gloom descended at the house of the techie couple at Chandrampalem in Madhurawada and surrounding areas, where the family members and relatives of the victims of a wall collapse incident in Simhachalam Sri Varaha Lakshmi Nrusimha Swamy Temple are residing. This sorrowful event has deeply saddened the local community.

Pilla Umamaheswara Rao
(30) and his wife Sailaja (27), were buried under the collapsed wall near the bus complex area on the Simhachalam hill in the wee hours of Wednesday, following a heavy downpour along with thunderstorms and heavy winds.
Locals and relatives describe Umamaheswara Rao and Shailaja as a loving couple who were friendly with everyone.
Their untimely demise, just as they were settling into their careers with good jobs after completing higher education, has plunged their family and friends into deep sorrow, their relative Raju said.

He further added that Uma Maheswara Rao's father, Appalanaidu, is a plumber, and his uncle, Pilla Rambabu, is a well-known stage artist. Umamahesh is the only male child of two two-child family.
The HCL employee, Umamaheswara Rao, got married to Infosys employee Sailaja three years ago. Both are working in Hyderabad, but now they are in the work-from-home mode.
Sailaja, along with her husband Umamaheswara Rao, aunt G Mahalakshmi, and another relative Venkata Ratnam, reached the temple at 1 am.
They were waiting in the special darshan queue line at 2 am for the deity's darshan when heavy rain lashed the temple, and suddenly the wall on top of six feet from the two queue lines of Rs. 300 collapsed suddenly, causing fatal injuries and resulting in their spot death.
The village of Chandrampalem is enveloped in grief, and many have expressed their condolences over this unfortunate incident.

On Brahmotsavam's fifth day Govindaraja Swamy on palanquin, Garuda blesses devotees
On the fifth day of the annual Brahmotsavams, the deity of Lord Govindaraja was taken in a procession around the temple on a palanquin in the morning and the most-revered Garuda Vahanam in the evening on Friday. Dressed in colourful silk clothes and dazzling jewels, the deity was dressed up as a damsel 'Mohini' and taken on a palanquin. Titled as 'Mohini Avataram', the procession drew the presence of hundreds of devout, who offered prayers even the deity was paraded around the shrine. Similarly, the deity was mounted atop the 'Garuda Vahanam' and carried around the temple in the evening. Considered the best and most popular of the celestial carriers, the procession on Garuda always draws the maximum crowd, and as such, the procession laster for a longer duration than the normal time. Special jewels As is the practice every year, the Tirumala temple sent special jewels, including three dollars, worth Rs.34.46 lakh to be used on the occasion. The jewels were carried in a special procession from atop the hill town to the shrine downhill. This is considered as a special gift from Lord Venkateswara to his elder brother Lord Govindaraja for his annual festival.

Land worth Rs 7 cr donated to Urukunda Narasimha Swamy Temple
Mantralayam: In a significant act of devotion and generosity, a devotee B Tippaiah, son of B Sannaiah and a resident of Bellary in Karnataka, has donated a valuable piece of land to the renowned Sri Narasimha Eranna Swamy Temple located in Urukunda village, Kowthalam mandal, Mantralayam constituency of Kurnool district on Friday. The donated land, measuring approximately 1.11 acres, is situated adjacent to the main road near the Level Canal, in close proximity to the temple premises. The donation was formally registered at the Kosigi Sub-Registrar's Office in the name of the temple. Speaking on the occasion, temple Executive Officer Medipalli Vijaya Rama Raju stated that the estimated market value of the donated land is around Rs 7 crores. He lauded the magnanimity of the donor and said such acts of faith and service go a long way in preserving and enriching temple heritage and its service to devotees. The land donation is expected to significantly benefit the temple's future development plans, including expansion of facilities for pilgrims and construction of additional amenities. The donation ceremony was attended by several key members of the temple administration, including the temple Superintendent Venkatesh, chief priests, village elders, and other staff members. The atmosphere was filled with spiritual fervor and gratitude, as devotees welcomed this noble gesture with reverence.
