Man accused of framing other man for deportation by writing letters threatening Trump's life
MILWAUKEE: A Wisconsin man is facing charges accusing him of forging a letter threatening President Donald Trump's life in an effort to get another man deported. Prosecutors said in a criminal complaint filed Monday that Demetric D. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Scott was behind a letter sent to state and federal officials with the return address and name of Ramón Morales Reyes. Scott was charged Monday with felony witness intimidation, identity theft and two counts of bail jumping. His attorney, Robert Hampton III, didn't immediately return an email from The Associated Press seeking comment. Immigration agents arrested Morales Reyes, 54, on May 21 after he dropped his child off at school in Milwaukee. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced the arrest, saying he had written a letter threatening to kill Trump and would "self-deport" to Mexico. The announcement, which also was posted by the White House on its social media accounts, contained an image of the letter as well as a photo of Morales Reyes. But the claim started to unravel as investigators talked to Morales Reyes, who doesn't speak English fluently, and obtained a handwriting sample from him that was different than the handwriting in the letters, according to court documents. Morales Reyes is listed as a victim in the case involving Scott, who is awaiting trial in Milwaukee County Jail on armed robbery and aggravated battery charges. The trial is scheduled for July. Law enforcement officers listened to several calls Scott made from the jail in which he talked about letters that needed to be mailed and a plan to get someone picked up by ICE so Scott's trial could get dismissed, according to the criminal complaint. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now He also admitted to police that he wrote the letters, documents said. Morales Reyes works as a dishwasher in Milwaukee, where he lives with his wife and three children. He had recently applied for a U visa, which is for people in the country illegally who become victims of serious crimes, said attorney Kime Abduli, who filed that application. Abduli told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Monday that she was glad Morales Reyes was being cleared of any involvement in the letter writing. His deportation defence lawyer, Cain Oulahan, wrote in an email Monday night that the main focus now is to secure Morales Reyes' release from custody and the next step will be to pursue any relief he may qualify for in immigration court. "While he has a U visa pending, those are unfortunately backlogged for years, so we will be looking at other options to keep him here with his family, which includes his three US citizen children," Oulahan wrote.

Following Opp outcry, Sena minister makes son withdraw from hotel auction
MUMBAI: Following the controversy over his son Siddhant buying a star hotel in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar for ₹67 crore, social justice minister and Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Shirsat on Monday announced that Siddhant would withdraw from the auction. The opposition Shiv Sena (UBT) had alleged that the hotel was worth ₹110 crore but was being auctioned for ₹67 crore. It also questioned how Siddhant, who had declared ₹59 lakh as his annual income, could raise such a huge amount to buy the hotel. Addressing a press conference, Shirsat said that he had asked his son to withdraw from the auction process (although they won it). He also came down heavily on Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and opposition leader in the state legislative council Ambadas Danve who had raised questions on the deal. 'Many shareholders of the hotel had problems with the owners, and the courts had asked for an auction,' said Shirsat. 'There were no tenders filed the first seven times. The eighth time, my son and his friends decided to bid.' Shirsat claimed that the payment to make a bid was a nominal ₹10 lakh to 15 lakh. 'But people made all kinds of foolish statements,' he said. 'They should have been allowed to complete the process. As per the court order, we had to pay the money in white, but even before the process began, we got negative publicity. Claims were also made that we were purchasing the hotel for ₹110 crore. Hence my son has decided to withdraw his bid.' Danve and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut had raised several questions over the deal. Danve had claimed that the property was worth ₹110 crore and questioned how it was being given to Shirsat's son for just ₹67 crore. He also asked Shirsat to explain how his son could raise ₹67 crore, given that his declared annual income was ₹59 lakh, and also told the minister to disclose who the partners in the bid were. 'Shinde's party is looting Maharashtra,' said Raut. Shirsat responded to the allegations, saying that Siddhant was raising the money through a bank loan. 'However as questions were being raised unnecessarily, I told my son it was better to withdraw his bid,' he said. 'A political attack is okay. But don't attack my houses and children. If anyone launches a personal attack, I will set your houses on fire,' he raged. The hotel, VITS, was earlier owned by a businessman in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and subsequently by Ramesh Havele's Dhanada Corporation. After it ran into financial problems, the courts asked the sub-divisional officer to deposit its profits in court so that the hotel workers could be paid.

Kasle is accused of spreading communal hatred, defaming public officials and sharing objectionable content on social media. The NM Joshi police station had registered a first information report (FIR) against Kasle last week, based on a complaint by a Bhandup-based social activist. He was accused of posting defamatory and objectionable messages against a woman politician, and booked for publishing or circulating false information, defamation and criminal actions intended to insult the modesty of a woman under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita along with the IT Act, said police. On Friday, Kasle was arrested from Delhi and brought to Mumbai. He was produced before the court on Saturday and remanded in police custody for two days. On Monday, he was produced before the court again and remanded in judicial custody. Police officers who interrogated Kasle said he wanted to increase his followers on social media by putting up controversial posts. Kasle's viewership on social media was around 80,000 and he would start getting money once the figure crossed the 100,000-mark, he told the police. 'During interrogation, he said that does not care about police cases and will continue to put up controversial posts once he is released from judicial custody,' a police officer aware of the matter said. Kalse was suspended when he claimed that he was offered a contract to kill the main accused in the Santosh Deshmukh murder case while he was posted in Beed district. He was dismissed from service under Article 311 of the Constitution around two months ago after he uploaded videos about the supposed offer to kill Karad and other matters, said police. Kasle had worked as a sub-inspector at the DB Marg and Marine Drive police stations in Mumbai before he was transferred to Beed district. His wife is a police sub-inspector and is presently posted in Nanded.
