The memory of NHL sensation Johnny Gaudreau and his brother, now-retired professional hockey player Matthew Gaudreau, will be honored this weekend in a unique way with the first-ever Gaudreau Family 5K Run/Walk and Family Day in Sewell, New Jersey.
The celebration— scheduled for Saturday at Washington Lake Park—already sold out its in-person registration in just three weeks. There is still virtual participation available for people who wish to come from afar.

First annual 5K run/walk in honour of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau
Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Gaudreau were known for their sporting achievements, and both brothers volunteered at Archbishop Damiano School growing up — the same school their mother, Jane Gaudreau, has worked at for more than 40 years.
The community event is designed to celebrate the Gaudreau family's long-standing ties to South Jersey while raising money for something near and dear to their hearts: constructing an inclusive playground at Archbishop Damiano School in Westville, Gloucester County — a school that has been molding the Gaudreau family for generations.
The event will feature far more than the 5K run/walk. There will be face painting, yoga classes, a live deejay, food booths, and a silent auction packed with unique sports memorabilia.

Raffle baskets have been donated in excess of 75 as well for the event.
The timing of the incident adds an extra emotional punch for the Gaudreau family. One day before their sister's wedding last August, Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau were hit by a suspected drunken driver while riding their bikes in Salem County. Sean Higgins, 44, is being charged in the incident.
'We wanted to do something that would be fun for the children, for everybody,' their mother, Jane Gaudreau said.
'We have face painting, and there's going to be yoga, there's lots of food, and there's over 75 raffle baskets.'
Jane Gaudreau added that Saturday's event is not only fundraising but also appreciation. 'My brother, who has special needs, started school there back in the '70s, and my mom went up with him, and she also taught there,' she said. 'I would have to take my lunch at the end of the day. I would pick them up around a little after 2 and then bring them to my work.
They would volunteer at my work until my oldest daughter was finished, or I was finished, and we would go home from there.
There's so many people that really helped us that we really haven't had a chance to thank. It's just phenomenal the way this committee has just worked so hard to do this in honor of the boys. I know John and Matty would be so proud.'

Trump 2025 travel ban: Uncle Sam's new no-fly list just got bigger; this is what has been banned and barred
Image credits: Getty Images Donald Trump , the President of the United States of America on Wednesday signed a proclamation banning citizens of 12 countries across the globe from entering the United States. The move, which is a part of the POTUS' immigration crackdown launched earlier this year, is portrayed as a needed action to protect the country against "foreign terrorists" and other security threats. "We will not allow people to enter our country who wish to do us harm," Trump said in a video posted on X. He also added that the list could be revised and new countries could be added. Who has been banned from the United States and who has been barred? Find out below! Afghanistan Myanmar Chad Congo Equatorial Guinea Eritrea Haiti Iran Libya Somalia Sudan Yemen Partially restricted from the United States of America There are seven other countries whose entry to the US is partially restricted. These are: Burundi Cuba Laos Sierra Leone Togo Turkmenistan Venezuela Welcomed to the United States of America Image credits: Getty Images According to The Guardian, Trump's new travel ban contains a unique exemption. Players, staff or associated families with clubs participating in the 2025 Club World Cup, the 2026 Fifa World Cup or the 2028 Olympics could be exempted from the US travel ban. Section 4 of the order, outlines the exemption stating, "any athlete or member of an athletic team, including coaches, persons performing a necessary support role and immediate relatives, travelling for the World Cup, Olympics, or other major sporting event as determined by the secretary of the state" are not subject to the ban. The travel ban by the President is a reinstatement as earlier the Biden administration had repealed the ban on nationals from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen in 2021 calling it "a stain on our national conscience." Many countries such as Somalia and Venezuela have already responded to the travel ban. While the former pledged to work with the U.S. to address the security issues, the latter announced that living in the United States is a "big risk" and advised its citizens against being in the U.S.

Did Donald Trump influence Rob Manfred's decision on Pete Rose's Hall of Fame chances
Did Donald Trump influence Rob Manfred's decision on Pete Rose's Hall of Fame chances (Image Source: Getty Images) The world of baseball saw a major shift recently. A long-standing decision has been rethought after years. What led to it? Who was behind the pressure? One surprising name was mentioned, and it's not a baseball player. Donald Trump 's opinion influenced a major MLB decision On Wednesday, during an MLB owners meeting, commissioner Rob Manfred shared surprising details in a press conference. He said that former U.S. President Donald Trump was one of the people who supported lifting Pete Rose's lifetime ban from baseball. Manfred said, 'He was one of a number of voices that were supportive of the idea that this was the right decision.' The decision, made official on May 13, 2025, now allows Pete Rose to be considered for the Baseball Hall of Fame in December 2027. Trump's support wasn't the only voice Manfred heard. He added, 'Obviously, I have respect for the office, and the advice that he gave, I paid attention to. But I had a lot of other people that were weighing in on the topic, as well.' Did Donald Trump influence Rob Manfred's decision on Pete Rose's Hall of Fame chances (Via Getty) Rose was permanently banned in August 1989. At that time, he and then-commissioner A. Bartlett Giamatti agreed to the punishment. Rose was found to have gambled on games, including ones involving his own team, the Cincinnati Reds, while playing and managing from 1985 to 1987. In 1991, the Hall of Fame made it clear that those on the permanently banned list would not be considered for entry. But this new ruling has changed that policy after more than 30 years. He said that robot umpires might be used in MLB starting in 2026. This technology would help teams challenge ball and strike calls. Tested in 288 games during spring training 2025, this mechanism lets teams succeed 52.2% of their challenges. Rob Manfred also said that MLB is in contact with Olympic authorities about permitting major league players to compete in the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles. He said talks on a possible salary cap would begin following the 2025 season. Discussions with the players' union are expected to begin in early 2026. There are also plans to finalize a new Sunday night broadcast deal before the All-Star break this year. The league is talking to three networks and streaming services. Manfred confirmed that attendance is up by 1.4% compared to last year. He also shared that the Las Vegas ballpark for the Athletics is expected to be ready by Opening Day 2028.

Appearing on CarCast , the WWE veteran said that he has injured himself multiple times while getting fight-ready for the finale. "I know the date (of my retirement match). No one else knows the date public-wise… I hurt myself a couple times in the past three months. But I pulled back... I've got a very high bar to set that I set for myself and 99 times out of a hundred, it's unrealistic… I've been in the ring a couple times. I'm gonna get in the ring again today and it's just tough, man. It is tough.' Goldberg said that he knows it is unrealistic, especially at this age, to think that his body can handle the pressure that he is putting it in. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo But at the same time, he wants to do the best he can in what would be his goodbye to something he has loved for so long.
