Here's how you can help name the U.S. Steel eaglet

CBS News21-04-2025

The eaglet in the U.S. Steel nest is getting bigger, which means it's time for a name.
The Tamarack Wildlife Center is holding a fundraiser where eagle fans can pay to vote for a name for
USS 8
. Voting ends on April 30, and the winner will be announced the next day.
Names on the ballot include nods to the number eight, like Ocho and Hachi, since this eaglet is the eighth one to hatch at U.S. Steel's Irvin Plant in West Mifflin. Steel and Infinity are on the list, as well as Starsky and Ikuzo.
Proceeds will go to the Tamarack Wildlife Center in Crawford County, which cared for a U.S. Steel fledgling that fell out of the nest in 2022, damaging her flight and tail feathers. After three months in treatment, the young eagle, named Rosie, was successfully released.
Last year's eaglet, USS 7, was named Lucky. Seven was a bit of a lucky number for the eaglet. Born on April 7, she was the seventh eaglet to hatch at the nest. It took Lucky 77 days to fledge, and
$7,000 was raised in a contest
to pick her name.
Irvin and Stella laid three eggs this year, but only one hatched on March 27. While it's the sixth season at the nest for Irvin, Stella replaced Claire, who left the nest late last year. The nest was built in 2019, and
a wildlife camera has been livestreaming
the family since 2021.

On today's General Hospital recap: Ric checks in on Liz and they discuss the Nurses Ball. Laura stops by, surprised to see Ric, but Liz reassures her. Laura thinks Ric has been keeping tabs on Liz and knows Lucky's coming and going. Liz swears she's set boundaries with Ric but his presence still upsets Lucky. Laura is certain Lucky never fell out of love and is happy they're back together. Liz says she's not sure if it's enough, if they can make it work. Laura hopes Lucky is happy here but wants them to figure out what's right for them. Alexis has a meeting with Lucky and Kristina to discuss the night her daughter tried to kill Ava. She says if the police investigate, Kristina will go to prison, and she wants all the details. Kristina explains about being at the scene and while she was in the background, Lucky points out the police's body cam might show her there. Kristina says she told Dante that she saw the smashed up car. Lucky says the only thing incriminating Kristina is the car and thought she was in the clear when the mechanic told him the car was gone. Kristina asks if Alexis can see a way out of this. Alexis says the problem is the car since there is proof that the brake lines were cut and Ava and Ric have the upper hand. Alexis thinks maybe she can get them to turn on each other and warns Kristina to stop being impulsive. Carly tells Curtis that the custody hearing is starting today (is it June 2nd already?!!) and would like Curtis' help. Carly says Drillow are accusing Michael of abandonment (and asks him to have Aurora remind the public that Drew is a con artist which might sway the jury in Michael's favour. Curtis says he can't do it because it could backfire. He says Michael is the majority shareholder and Drew could end up looking like a victim. Curtis says he's working on something else. Curtis tells Portia that he can't help Carly because of Drew's blackmail over her. Portia tells him about Jacinda but doesn't think Drew can track her down. She questions why Tracy was arrested for drugging Drew and Curtis figures he planted the ketamine. Portia says there is no evidence of her involvement, because the ketamine would get traced to Brad. Curtis says they need to find Jacinda. Michael asks Sasha if the kids can stay with her during the hearing but Sasha says Ric called her as a witness. He wonders if Ric knows about the paternity, but Sasha doesn't think so. Sasha wonders if she'd told Michael about the fourth of July kiss, if he could have worked it out with Willow and not gotten to this point. Michael says he was desperate to make Willow happy and never got to know the real her. Nina tells Ava that she got information that would help Willow get full custody but doesn't want to use it. Nina tells her about figuring out that Michael is Sasha's baby daddy and Ava wonders why Nina hasn't told Willow. Nina says she loves Sasha and exposing her baby daddy would be a betrayal. Nina also believes that if Willow gets full custody, she'll never leave Drew. She says Drew wants to bring the kids and Willow to DC and she'll lose them. Nina thinks it's better off if Willow doesn't get full custody. Ava tells her to do what she can live with. Emma wakes up alone and worries that Gio ditched her, but he returns and tells her that she's the only one that he trusts. He's upset about all the phone messages he's been getting from everyone and doesn't believe everyone's concern. He says knowing he's related to all of them doesn't change things and that he doesn't want fake relationships with anyone. Gio wonders if Sonny knew the truth since he's friends with Lois and it would explain him paying for his musical education. Gio mentions Camilla, but Emma says she loved him as his mother. She says Camilla taking him at her lowest point gave her a reason to keep on going. He agrees that Camilla was his mother, but Brook Lynn is the one who gave him away. Emma asks where they're going now, but Gio says he needs answers and that they need to go back. Lois overhears Brook Lynn on the phone with Anna then asks whether Gio and Emma are together. Brook Lynn tells her that she doesn't have the right to ask. Lois just wants to know if Gio is okay, but Brook Lynn says he took off with Emma. When Lois asks about tracking Gio's phone, Brook Lynn gets angry and says Gio needs space. Brook Lynn accuses Lois of betraying her trust, but Lois says she did what she thought was best. Lois says Camella just wanted to raise Gio and Lois found a good family for him. Brook Lynn says she asked for a closed adoption and instead grew up living down the street from Gio and interacting with him. Lois says she didn't want to send the baby away and could keep an eye on him. Brook Lynn says she was an adult when Camilla died but Lois says she couldn't add to Gio's grief by telling him then. Lois says she gave Brook Lynn her freedom which was the right thing to do. She says Brook Lynn would be a different person now had she been told about Gio after Camilla died. Brook Lynn is angry Lois made the decisions and can't help Gio through this because he doesn't trust her. Brook Lynn says Gio doesn't want anything to do with her, and she doesn't want anything to do with Lois, as Gloria shows up and chastises her. Laura tells Alexis she was looking over Ace's trust and there seems to be money missing. Lucky tells Liz he knows more about her car accident that he let on. Ric asks Nina if she's ready to testify as to what she saw when everyone found out about Drew and Willow's affair. He asks if she has something else to add. Sens. Fetterman, McCormick find common ground in FOX Nation debate

(WHTM) — Pennsylvania's two first-term senators sat in stark contrast to each other as they shared a stage Monday, but they found common ground. Democrat John Fetterman and Republican Dave McCormick participated in FOX Nation's 'The Senate Project,' an Oxford-style debate that brings legislators together to discuss topics. The event took place in Boston. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox. Subscribe Now McCormick and Fetterman both expressed support for Nippon Steel's proposed investment in U.S. Steel. Previously, both senators were vocal about their opposition to the Japanese company's initial proposal to purchase the company. They also agreed on 'getting tough' on Russia and Iran, as well as sealing the border. Fetterman took aim at his own party for its handling of the issue. In recent days, the Democratic Senator has found himself on the receiving end of party attacks. Fetterman dismissed criticism from former staffers over missed votes in the Senate. He said he missed those votes because they were on Mondays. 'Those are travel days,' Fetterman said. 'I have three young kids, and those are throwaway procedural votes that were never determinative, or they weren't important, and that's a choice that I made. If you want to attack me for that, go ahead, but I'd like to point out that Bernie and Senator Murray missed more, so why aren't the left media yelling and demanding them or claiming they're not doing their job? Be genuine on that.' Fetterman claims media trying to 'smear' him over missed votes, absences Sen. Fetterman said he will be present to vote on President Donald Trump's spending plan. He said he is a 'likely no' because of its changes to SNAP benefits. McCormick said he will vote yes on the bill because it will root out waste, fraud and abuse. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Dallas Cowboys legend and Hall of Famer Michael Irvin was impressed by what head coach Brian Schottenheimer is building at The Star.

Dallas Cowboys legend and Hall of Famer Michael Irvin was impressed by what head coach Brian Schottenheimer is building at The Star. originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Dallas Cowboys have had a lot of mantras over the past couple of seasons, with "Carpe Omnia" and "Rooted" being used under Mike McCarthy, but now this is Brian Schottenheimer's ship, and we, with the help of Hall of Famer Michael Irvin, may have just unearthed another one. Advertisement Competition under pressure. As OTAs have gotten underway, Schottenheimer invited several legends to The Star to participate in meetings and watch practice, including Irvin among others. And Irvin, on his YouTube channel, detailed what the day was like, and he came away with a three-word phrase I heard all throughout his 27-minute video. Competition under pressure. From the basketball hoop in the meeting room as players competed against each other, to having a good practice, only for Schottenheimer to call the group in and give them an old-fashioned talking to, the "Playmaker" was impressed. Irvin stated that players were looking around, trying to determine who had let the team down, yet nobody spoke up. Why? Advertisement Because that's how you built what Irvin calls the right culture. "That's how you build champions because now nobody wants to be the one to let everybody down," Irvin said. "If everybody [is] looking around saying who did that, who took it easy, then you get some answers around here and you get some more of them championships. Because that's how you create, that's how you live in the right what they call culture." Rich Barnes-Imagn Images Mind you, this is an OTA practice, and that is the standard being set. But Irvin wasn't done with his story. He detailed that when CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens both caught 70+ yard touchdowns, they were tackled way before, yet both sprinted to the end zone anyway. Advertisement 'Competition under pressure, I'm telling you, I like what I saw,' Irvin added. 'I like how he's handling it." Now, Irvin has always been Dallas' biggest fan and supporter, but after being in the meeting rooms and on the practice field, seeing Schottenheimer do his thing, and watching the players get put through their paces, he was left impressed. "I'm telling y'all, I walked out of there real excited about this season, and I'm going to tell you, a lot of people going to be sleeping [on Dallas] then we going to creep." It was an insightful talk Irvin gave, which peeked behind the curtain of Schottenheimer's vision for his team in 2025, and he came away impressed with the direction the franchise is heading.
